@4realpeepl Their music in the early 60s were influenced by black music, In the same way black music was influenced by the Irish. Plus, Th beatles made way btter music in the late 60s which WASN'T influenced by black music. Saying that I would like to add that being black has nothing to do with music or how good you are, Who ever says something like Elvis stole music from the black man, Is wrong and a racist.
@MunisAwesome Huh..I read about "better than something other" in many comments on youtube...Listen guys, music is no formula 1.. ie a cover made 1001st time MAY still be good. Hard to accept it if you do not feel it, eh? Who are you to judge what was better and what worst 50 years ago anyway? It is rock'n roll man, not Absurdistan Has an Idol.. Anyhow skin color does not matter I agree.
@xtandixi That is kinda true, But most people would agree that musicians that play overly repetitive music and hasn't changed at all within it's genre isn't as good as a musician who creates his own style of music.
The best rocking roll band the world had the blessing to grow up with I was blessed to grow up in that time period... Ringo must have let loose on this song that's for sure. Great Vid.. thanks for putting it up.. brought back many memories
Ringo was insane. Couldn't take my eyes off him. (Idiot cameraman- took his eye off Ringo) So glad Ringo came to the Beatles. Amazing drummer, not to mention- calm, down to earth, rhythm crazy, smiling & a real comedian. We really lucked out with our 4 Beatles. They're unbelievable.
Lord love them and their synchronised bowing and the end of every song. Wish I'd been around back then, my only dilema? Just which one of these gorgeous crumpets to drool over. Hell I'm greedy, I'd take them all!
They tuned down a half step. Makes a big difference when you're hittin the high notes. Great version and good quality. Dont think I've heard this at this concert before
@ryuman757 Side note, I'll bet you didn't know that Eight Days a Week, a Hard Days Night, and Tomorrow Never Knows were all written based on Ringo's sayings. I'd compare the Beatles without Ringo to Thanksgiving without the candied sweet potatoes/yams...he wasn't essential to the technical sound of the band, but he gave them that "punch." added lots to the image, and, yes, he happens to be a human metronome of a drummer who knew exactly when to show off.
/"Ringo has established himself with a sound that was quite unique and is the best rock drummer in the world. " And "One of the best things about Ringo was how he flowed, he listened to his pals and picked up the tempo. His playing, when you hear him working with Paul on bass and the other guys on guitars, has soul. It was just remarkable.” Sir George Martin
Ringo made them the world class live band at that time! So simple but having some kind of groove. It is very similar role of the drummer, Yukihiro Takahashi, Yellow Magic Orchestra as the early Techno live band in'79 and '80.
@IFantasticMrFoxI yeah, ringo starts killin' it and the camera just moves away. Haha. Man, I thought this was such a cool song and such a hilarious comment that I stopped writing my term paper to say this. Let me know if you find any clips of ringo killin it again, cuz just the sheer amount that his platform was shakin was awesome. Such a fantastic band.
Ugh... it seems like everytime they have video of this song, the camera person always looks away when Ringo starts to do his awesome drumming near the end...
The Beatles were the real deal and nothing shows this any better than this old video! They could and would...rock it baby! Paul rocks the house with his vocal and Ringo hits those drums like a nut case,;George and John gettin' down too.
As solid as this performance was, I just Picture Little Richard in a Backwoods Georgia Bar in the 50's rocking this out on an old Piano and people dancing. CCR's version is pretty nice too. Cheers.
@BeatleJim55 LOL!! I believe he's right! Paul's voice gets really sexy in this song... and no disrespect to Little Richard intended, but the Beatles just kicked his butt all up and down the street on this number. Never heard anybody do this song better than they did, live or on the album version. IT. JUST. ROCKS.
Wow Ringo really gave this song something special! The only thing I miss, are the vocals of the creator of the song himself, the one and only Little Richard!!!
@smitske1990 Interest, because there is an interview with Little Richard where he actually says Paul sings this song better than anyone, including himself. But everyone is welcome to their own opinion :)
@konstanz2012 IMO, you're right. Ringo was the best. If you look at the huge spectrum of music styles and arrangements the Beatles recorded, there are very few rock drummers of the day who could have done what he did. Keith Moon?...human thrashing machine. Charlie Watts?....... some, but not all. Bobby Elliot?...probably some. The Beatles used bits of Spanish music, Cuban mambo, reggae, Hindustani, Bakersfield country, Carl Perkins (George's idol) Smokey Robinson. I've run out of room here.
@zoomustard Your right, what a lot of Ringo critics don't seem to acknowledge is how many different styles of music he can play. We keep hearing how much better people like Keith Moon and John Bonham were than Ringo and while they were excellent drummers and they might be better than Ringo at what they do, are there many examples of them playing in different styles? Also, Ringo played on Moon's solo album and Moon knew more about drumming than Ringo's armchair critics do.
I can't believe the flimsy set up that Ringo's kit was on. It shook so much it seemed like it was about to collaspe at any moment. You would think that as big as the Beatles had already become they could have had a better stage set up than they did.
@kentaappel I had the same Gretch kit when I was 14 (1966) It was just different then. Everything the Beatles had on stage probably came with them on their plane. It wasn't like concerts today. I saw Yes in 1970 ( I think ) and they powered their PA with 4 Crown 300A amplifiers. I have a 300A powering my home stereo today.
@kentaappel They should have performed on a better stage and they could have given Ringo a bigger drum set like Keith Moon's for this type of performance.
@Myajackson1996 : the beatles and little richard were friends and was on a gruop, that happened in 1963 when the beatles had permission to sing little richard's song and little richard accepted. And in the 60's little richard was watching the beatles singing this song and when little richard was being interviewed he said ''the beatles sang it more wonderfull than me'' he said.
