Great playing :-) I too acquired a lot of vintage guitars and effects. my fav axes I own are a 1978 Gibson Marauder and a 1978 Hagsrom Hiin. Work hard and play hard my brother.
@craigmcarthur1 oh!! PRS i see thats why u look like the guitar guy from linkin park, thats cool man!!! u play very cool and u have a grea stuff :D grettings from mexico
@craigmcarthur1 Your guitar is very beautiful; I like this shape more than classic Les Paul. And the guitar sounds very good too, but IMHO, Boss MT-2 might not the best mate for this guitar though.
Thanks for the video, I got an MT-2 a few months ago, your video was one of those rare reviews which made the MT-2 sound decent.
You could have saved yourself thousands and thousands of dollars in both pedals and electric bills and have hundreds of more tone options if you would've bought the Line 6 UX2 Studio with PodFarm...it's essentially like having any amp or pedal at your disposal right in your computer hooked up to a kick ass sound system.
I have a PODXT Live, a POD 2.0, Line 6 Flextone II amp and a Boss GT6. There is no substitute for a nice valve amp, good guitar and some nice stomp boxes
@1971SuperLead Raise your strap up a few and you could probably hit licks you struggled with and gave up on because you'd rather look cool. You ever see someone looking cool during a carpal tunnel attack? Get your elbow below the neck and quit advising people to play with poor technique.
@willrichtor Well, there are your choices......health or stardom! lol
I really think this guy is talented, and if he wants to sit in his home and be amazing ....that's cool, but if he wants to be the next Slash.....he needs to think about his image as well.
I'm not suggesting he play with a lowered guitar all the time.....just during shows......like this one!
Image is just as important as talent these days, if you want to sell out forums and get gold records.
@1971SuperLead Cool isn't freakin about the level of your guitar or what idiotic clothes you wear that, 10 years down the road, date you badly. Slash has always looked like an idiot. He's a good enough player to get away with it. When you can play as well as you can, or this guy can, cause both of you are outstanding players, all you need to do is connect with the audience. Image has become much MORE important than talent. Be a shame to perpetuate the trend, needlessly.
@willrichtor That may be your definition of "cool", but if you were to conduct a survey of Slash fans and their opinion on Slash....you'd find that 99% of Slash fans think Slash looks cool. The low slung guitar image is a widely popular image. A short guitar strap is equal to wearing flood pants. It's simply not attractive. If you want to fight your audience's taste and wear flood pants....good luck with that. Metal heads may be rebels, but they are slaves to image as well. A bit of irony there!
@willrichtor Thinking about how Metal fans are so conservative about their image...long hair, thick leather, tatoos, etc. I dare to invision a Metal band that rebels against this long standing image. What if they all dressed like Al Gore or George Bush. What if the entire audience also dressed the way the right wing fundemental conservatives would love to see young Americans dressed as? Why not the lyrics as well? "Pay your taxes! Don't ask questions! We work for whatever authority hands us!"
@1971SuperLead Dare to envision no more: Look up Deathklok. That's Brendan "home movies" Small. A dork. An unapologetically nerdy individual who is creator and frontman for the hottest metal band in the entire world at the moment, and arguably of the last 2 decades. He'd be something if he grew a gnarly beard, lowered his guitar to his knees, jumped on the metal choo choo train(chugga chugga squeal squeal) and drank his potential away like Zakk Wylde, a real rock star.
@willrichtor Well no, he had no image at all and made his fortune by being invisible and using cartoons, but his characters in the cartoons are low slung, image conscience players. He's actually the worst example for your argument as he totally embraces the low slung guitar image.
Admit man. Image is a powerful thing. Images sell. People worship images. Every man falls in love with his eyes first. The world is a world of images. You gotta look good.......whatever "good" is.
@1971SuperLead Being You been to a metal show recently? Look at the kids there, the young ones are gravitating back toward normal dress. Not conservative, I don't know where the hell you pulled that from, but normal damn teenage "image" and believe it or not, kids like bands with whom they can identify. I've seen Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth(x2) Testament, Exodus, Danzig in the past year, and the kids laughed at the way they looked, but the music never failed to impress.
@willrichtor The point is that image is still important. You gotta look good....whatever "good" is. Slayer and those guys were all extremely image conscious. They would have never made it big had they walked onto the stage looking like Pat Boone. The fellow in this video is tall, slender, has good hair and has a nice guitar. He's playing some really cool riffs on a cool guitar and I'm thinking "All this guy needs is to drop his guitar a couple inches and he would be a rock star." Is that wrong?
The stock version, nop its too fizzy and alters the tone of the amplifier way too much. The Keeley version however is good, very versatile and useable overdrive. Well worth trying
Hey craig, I just wanted to say thanks so much for this video... I was looking for demos of the Keeley mod and you definitely sold me on it, and now I just put this video on in the background to listen to those riffs, love your stuff! Is this song (Muscle Memory) getting released at all?
What are you planning on doing with them? I wouldadis plugging the MT-2 straight into your amp, and connecting the DD-3 via your amps effects loop. Then mess around wit the settings until you get the sound you hear in your head
Great riffs, great demo. I wish I could find a showdown between the unmodded version and this, but it'll have to do. Also, I love that you've got 3 LP's and play your PRS. Nice guitar, I've got one too. Money well spent :P
@randalldunman94 i was thinking the same thing. I once went crazy and scored 12 boss pedal on craigslist but it didnt take long to relilize i didnt need most of them. i sold all exept the dd 7 and metal zone, kinda wish a kept the compessor. my point is... you are right, and i think this guy might never find the sound he's looking for if he bought all of those. lol
@randalldunman94 don't e a jealous bitch. Maybe he works for a living and makes good enough money to buy shit he wants? You could do the same if you wern't such a fucking loser hanging around commenting on youtube because your a jealous little faggot that wishes he had more stuff than he does. Fuck yourself
@Jfly7814 Don't comment back towards me with terrible grammar and lack of English understanding. Money has nothing to do with it, you ignorant little shit. The only reason you even saw my comment is because it's well liked, meaning others agree. If you don't like the fact that I left a shitty comment, then commenting back with and equally ignorant one makes you just the same as everything you claimed that I am. Unfortunately my comment was made seven months ago, your's was today. Grow up.
@randalldunman94 I don't care if your stupid ass comment was made 3 years ago or 3 minutes ago. The people who liked it are just more morons like you who are nothing more than jealous. If you knew anything about the human psych you would understand jealousy is very common. People are jealous of things they don't have. This is a perfect example. Don't be a bitch, man up and admit your just jealous he has stuff you wish you could afford if you didn't still live with mommy and daddy....BIATCH!!!
@randalldunman94 and fuck you and your grammar. What is this high school? Well...that would make sense as to why it pissed you off so much. Must still be in school getting graded on it. In the real world grammar doesn't fucking matter. Unless of coarse you work with a bunch of stuck up suits and ties all day. Work construction with other men and come talk to me about grammar you little faggot. This is youtube, not your english class. SUCK MAH BALLZ!!
@Jfly7814 And now you say things suck as "Suck mah ballz," and "biatch," which only further proves my point that you're an ignorant human being. If you feel as if using foul language makes you seem "cooler," then that's fine; however, just know that it doesn't, you still look equally as mentally unhealthy. I can afford what he uses, I actually play a Paul Reed Smith, I use the MT-2 and a foot board processor, so insulting my economic flow to cover your pathetic anger is worsening your stature.
@randalldunman94 hahaha dude i was just bored at working randomly trolling threads. You took my bait, it kept me entertained. You got one thing right though, i am mentally unhealthy hahaha
i bought this pedal for 2 months now. when i tried it today, it doesn't work. the red light on the pedal doesn't show up!! is this happening because the battery is dead??
or is my distortion fucked up??? please helpppppppp
Man!!! for that setup I need a GPS (Global Positioning System) To find the maybe the Chorus, jajaja!! but i see you have there the $1,500 +++ switcher system. But looks very cool, Nothing matters if you have the sound you want, and that's is all about. Enjoy it to the maxxxx
@ThomasBorn92 Quite the opposite, he wont admit it, but they PILE UP against each other rendering his rig useless and not impressing anyone who knows what is required for a good tone (an amp, and a good pedal)
The clue is in the name of the pedal...METAL Zone... All I've heard from all these demos is players imitating metal!! Give it some serious riffage, then get up on the high strings and shred up!!
Not knocking your playing at all, but if you're guna do a review at least play in the style the pedal was designed for... Go and learn some Dimebag now!!
Very Twangy and High-Endish. You'll loose all your sound and sound like nothing but crappy fuzz when playing with a full band. I was going to bye one - not any more!
(this cable-mass-thing must be a general thing with LP-people in general.. I got this problem myself...)
you got to do yourself the favour to never ever start doing drugs....that makes it worse, I can tell you that... everything gets crowded by even more useless stuff and you start REALLY never getting rid of anything that ever gets into your effects-colletion before it is broken ;)
The Keeley MT-2 is silly amounts of low end if you like. The EQ is great. The stock MT-2 is very thin and noisey. The Keeley however is very quiet and versatile
@gu1tarister that is a PRS SC and none of the guitars in the background look like gibsons, well they look like gibsons, but not exactly like a gibson.... teehee
@joe29786 I disagree. Tone starts at your fingertips. If you just flood a signal with tons of effects and guitar tracks, then you lose the value of the playing.

'Heavy Metal' from the Boss manual
Level - 12 o'clock
Left EQ Outer - 3 o'clock
Left EQ Inner - 3 o'clock
Right EQ Outer - 1.5 o'clock
Right EQ Inner - 10.5 o'clock
Distortion - 2 o'clock
It's a very, very nice sound.

You could do the same if you wern't such a fucking loser hanging around commenting on youtube because your a jealous little faggot that wishes he had more stuff than he does. Fuck yourself
Jfly7814 11 months ago
@Jfly7814 Don't comment back towards me with terrible grammar and lack of English understanding. Money has nothing to do with it, you ignorant little shit. The only reason you even saw my comment is because it's well liked, meaning others agree. If you don't like the fact that I left a shitty comment, then commenting back with and equally ignorant one makes you just the same as everything you claimed that I am. Unfortunately my comment was made seven months ago, your's was today. Grow up.
randalldunman94 11 months ago
@randalldunman94 I don't care if your stupid ass comment was made 3 years ago or 3 minutes ago. The people who liked it are just more morons like you who are nothing more than jealous. If you knew anything about the human psych you would understand jealousy is very common. People are jealous of things they don't have. This is a perfect example. Don't be a bitch, man up and admit your just jealous he has stuff you wish you could afford if you didn't still live with mommy and daddy....BIATCH!!!
Jfly7814 11 months ago
@randalldunman94 and fuck you and your grammar. What is this high school? Well...that would make sense as to why it pissed you off so much. Must still be in school getting graded on it. In the real world grammar doesn't fucking matter. Unless of coarse you work with a bunch of stuck up suits and ties all day. Work construction with other men and come talk to me about grammar you little faggot. This is youtube, not your english class. SUCK MAH BALLZ!!
Jfly7814 11 months ago
@Jfly7814 And now you say things suck as "Suck mah ballz," and "biatch," which only further proves my point that you're an ignorant human being. If you feel as if using foul language makes you seem "cooler," then that's fine; however, just know that it doesn't, you still look equally as mentally unhealthy. I can afford what he uses, I actually play a Paul Reed Smith, I use the MT-2 and a foot board processor, so insulting my economic flow to cover your pathetic anger is worsening your stature.
randalldunman94 11 months ago
@randalldunman94 hahaha dude i was just bored at working randomly trolling threads. You took my bait, it kept me entertained. You got one thing right though, i am mentally unhealthy hahaha

The pedal I use in this video is the Robert Keeley Electronics modiied version of the Boss MT-2, hence the blue led

Man!!! for that setup I need a GPS (Global Positioning System) To find the maybe the Chorus, jajaja!! but i see you have there the $1,500 +++ switcher system. But looks very cool, Nothing matters if you have the sound you want, and that's is all about. Enjoy it to the maxxxx
Dionydejesus 1 year ago
Wow. Does that set up drain your tone?
ThomasBorn92 1 year ago
Nop, it would if the fx were in series, but i have them hooked up thru a Gig Rig Pro 14
craigmcarthur1 1 year ago
@ThomasBorn92 the pedal is buffered, this prevents signal loss. pretty much all boss pedals are buffered bypass
ckyvick666 1 year ago
@ThomasBorn92 Quite the opposite, he wont admit it, but they PILE UP against each other rendering his rig useless and not impressing anyone who knows what is required for a good tone (an amp, and a good pedal)
RRViper800TT 1 year ago
what pedals would u perfer for playing music like breaking benjamin
kk2170 1 year ago
The clue is in the name of the pedal...METAL Zone... All I've heard from all these demos is players imitating metal!! Give it some serious riffage, then get up on the high strings and shred up!!
Not knocking your playing at all, but if you're guna do a review at least play in the style the pedal was designed for... Go and learn some Dimebag now!!
themiddyman 1 year ago
@themiddyman "metal" is a pretty loose term, and usually gets used for anything with high gain, , he just happens to play a different style
Shivemaster 1 year ago
it sounded toooo repetitive, and only dime bag can get away with making the country twang style, mixed with shred... ummm keep it up though!
kennithherrick 1 year ago
Very Twangy and High-Endish. You'll loose all your sound and sound like nothing but crappy fuzz when playing with a full band. I was going to bye one - not any more!

what are the EQ settings on your amp head? and pedal?
Frippster22 1 year ago
uncomfortable thought of being filmed ? ;)
CAPZLOKK 1 year ago
nice epiphones and the PRS
ramprage15 1 year ago
The Keeley MT-2 is silly amounts of low end if you like. The EQ is great. The stock MT-2 is very thin and noisey. The Keeley however is very quiet and versatile
craigmcarthur1 1 year ago
I think you have a thing for Gibson :P
gu1tarister 1 year ago
@gu1tarister that is a PRS SC and none of the guitars in the background look like gibsons, well they look like gibsons, but not exactly like a gibson.... teehee

goddamn got enough shit why dont u donate some to my broke ass i do have keely modded mt-2 but i need me a 6505+ head i be happy then
capone7182 1 year ago
i have a doubt....
that sound comes from the metal zone, or it is because of the mesa boggie?
6AxL6 1 year ago
Its all pedal driven thru the clean channel of my hiwatt. no boogie in the sinal chain
craigmcarthur1 1 year ago
@6AxL6 For some reason, the MT-2 and Mesa's really mix well. Pat O'Brien from Cannibal Corpse uses that combination and he always gets a great tone.

You can never have too many guitars or effects.
joe29786 1 year ago 30
@joe29786 I disagree. Tone starts at your fingertips. If you just flood a signal with tons of effects and guitar tracks, then you lose the value of the playing.
