I'm gay man but I don't support "free tibet".
Dalai is totally a liar, who just wants to "reclaim" his sovereignty on tibet. If you look at the history of tibet, you will find he lead a much more brutal regime when he was ruling tibet, which was not democratic, or humane at all.
It's true everybody has the right to protest. But you gotta learn the cause and effect of the issue you protest. Don't just simply look at Dalai's hypocritical smile.

this is a reply for dodowoo well your missing one fact 90-95%, if not more, want the Dalai Lama back in Tibet unlike the iraq issue where just the small number of saddam supporters who benefitted from his reign.

Second, learn something about Dorje Shugden, and find out why those Tibetans hate Dalai Lama so much.
Thrid, I've been to Sichuan and Gansu provinces in China which share borders with Tibet. There're tons of Tibetans living in those regions. They interact with Chinese very well and don't wanna be isolated for "free tibet".
