  • I just love Darcy's "On foot?" and Elizabeth's expression just after that. It's almost as if she wants to say: "No I flew here! Are you stupid or what?"

  • oh how scandalous! Lizzy walking out on dirt with her head uncovered and no shawl! And for Darcy to see that!!! >_<//////

  • Watch Darcy's reaction at 2:05

Looks up. Sees Lizzy. Becomes startled. Regains composure. All in a few seconds. THAT, my friends, is good acting.

  • Every time I hear Mrs Bennet talking I can't help thinking that she sounds like one of the Monty Python "women" :D

  • @Afterthebattle Same here!

  • I agree that Jane isn’t pretty enough, she does have the right personality for the role. Remember that in the early 19th century people had different ideas of what was attractive. Jane’s look would have been considered beautiful back then. They especially preferred fair-haired women too.

  • @SonyaNataliaWr exactly!

  • Honestly, Jane should've been the prettiest girl anong the Bennet ssters, and she looks so plain. Aside from this detail, this version has no compare.

  • has anyone read the book pride and prejudice and zombies. i did and it was very humorous.

  • unless to make it real they eat well, not this othr versions when do they eat a little? ok but dont tell me anything it just my opinion

  • Mrs Bennett party crasher

  • Boy, this mother! Sure, throw her girls, by themselves and teens, at soldiers! Yes, mothers should teach their girls to run after men. It works so well. / And that one sister sure got a prize of a man from their circle of society. He's a sot. Could he get more food on his plate? And he doesn't stand when Lizzy comes in. These are the beautiful people? Caroline's problem is that she doesn't know when to shut up. She thinks she knows Darcy. Her one brain cell doesn't stretch that far.

  • I somehow love this elizabeth bennet too...nice character...

  • did they really show off that much cleavage in those days?

  • Personally i think Elizabeth is much, much prettier then jane in this version! :)

    Like if you agree

  • Please could you upload the parts which have been blocked under another name if that's possible? i used to watch this all the time and when i found out it was blocked i was so sad!!!!!!!!!!! please try anything you can ipluso! :)

  • Thank you so much for upload :)

  • most favorite movie EVEEEEEEEERRRRRRR :) oh and also i love the mom (Mrs. Bennit) she's hilarious

  • 6:39 made me LOL .. he's like "....alrighty then."

XD oh, elizabeth. i love you so much, you prideful bitch, you :')

  • @sleeksilverxo hahaha, prideful bitch ;)

  • Try to turn on the CC with the 'transcribed audio'. It's hilarious how off base they are with it. Thumbs up this if you tried it : ) The best one is at 6:52

  • @JOceans11 hamburger @7:06 lol

i dont get what its meant to do is just like subtitles?!

look at it is like watching a really badly dubbed movie!

  • "They were brightened by the exercise." LOL :)

  • could someone pls tell me what happened to the whole 1995 version

and so much has been elimated..thanks...

  • can sumone pls send the whole tv series to me pls

  • I must say that when I was reading the book I just hated Mr. Darcy so much at first, the word a******* would come out of my mouth rather often

  • Caroline: I'm afraid, Mr. Darcy, that this escapade may have affected your admiration for her fine eyes...

Darcy: Not at all--they were brightened by the excercise.

    Me: OOH, BUUUUUUURN.

  • Why is everyone so obsessed with the looks of the characters? I think they are portrayed perfectly. I have read the book and the 2005 movie is so over glamourised in my opinion. Kiera Knightley is rubbish at showing any expressions and the story is rushed through. This is beautifully done with such care and devotion to the story. I think Jane is very pretty in this too, a natural pretty and she is much more shy and kind in this one I find, as in the book.

  • Mr Bennett to Mrs. Bennett: "Here sits two of the silliest girls in the country." So true....they get it from their mother.

  • she wasn't a very pretty Jane was she. hmm

  • where is part 4 of 6 ???

  • Is it me, or does anyone else watch part of Pride and Prejudice every time they're on Youtube? I just love this movie! Can't stop watching it. <3

  • Firth makes a really good Darcy. :)

  • this is a very good adaptation. the acting is really good.

  • I love the accuracy of this version..............

But I just don't get how these actors can be attractive. Colin Firth is hot, indeed and so is the actor who plays Bingley, but all the other actors look like 80s porn stars.

  • @thatsvy bahahaha thats flippin funny dude! And yes Colin and Crispin (bingley) are both FIIIINE men

  • I love how their coats billow in the wind as they walk back to the house.

  • i love the 2005 version. but this one i pretty good too...but kiera knightley(spelling?) was the best lizzie in my opinion

  • I would have been so upset if I lived in that era. All the time! Nobody would have liked me because I would be so hurt all the time and go off and yell at them. (: More power to Elizabeth.

  • At 2.19 the script note said, "Darcy has an erection." It was a head shot.

Colin Firth comment on it in one of his interviews.

  • Ms. Bingley "I am afraid Mr. Darcy that this escapade may have affected your admiration for her fine eyes" Darcy "Not at all they were brightened by the exercise" BOOM, take it Ms. Bingley

  • Can somebody tell me what is this scene about? Something about accomplished woman, and this Mr Darcy wanting something more substantial? Uhh yeah I didn't get it, lol. This is my first time coming upon pride and prejudice.

  • @LizzieDoodle16 basically, he was turning the "accomplished lady" thing back onto elizabeth.. as she was reading ;) but she thought he was just stating more and more things to make an "accomplished lady" and was being prideful again :)P kinda hard to explain.. but yeah haha

  • @LizzieDoodle16 They basically talk about who is an accomplished woman and Miss Bingley says 100 things which she thinks she is. But Darcy does not care about Miss Bingley's comments, he just wants to save Elizabeth so he says that an accomplished woman has to improve her mind by reading many books-which Lizzy was doing. Elizabeth thinks that Mr. Darcy just added one more thing to Miss Bingley's list so she kind of makes fun of him. Hope I could be of help to you.

  • @csokijegkrem

Yes you were, thank you very much. I know understand. :)

  • Comment removed

  • @LizzieDoodle16 ~Bingley's sis was being sarcastic, snobbish & subtly putting Lizzy down. She knew Darcy liked Liz & her brother liked Jane. She was intimidated by Lizzy's low class, informalities, freedom, lack of decorum & not being part of society; her standard's & prejudices for an accomplished woman but still got Darcy's interest. Darcy, not impressed by her standards, said there were not 1/2 a dozen women who would satisfy his notion of "accomplished"...he preferred a reader/thinker.

  • @trw1501

Ooh I see! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain that to me. It makes sense. Oh but I do got a question (if you or anyone could answer....) later on, Lizzy visits Darcy and his sister. The bingly sisters seem to make a comment that, i guess, seems insulting? Lizzie just walks back to Georgina, and says something about "not turning the page for her". Something like that, what was that about?

  • @LizzieDoodle16 Lol! Miss Bingley was being a bitch to Lizzy in that scene. She asked Lizzy if the militia (army) was stationed in Brighton (close to the Bennett family). Lizzie responded that they were staying in Meryton (farther away) for the summer. Miss Bingley then says to Lizzy, "That must be a great loss for your family." Insinuating that her family was desperate & hoping one of the sisters married a man of the militia.

  • @LizzieDoodle16 ~Miss Bingley then goes on to say in front of Georgiana (Darcy's sister) that she heard (paraphrasing) the Bennett sisters were chasing after the affections of Wickham. She said that to make Lizzy look bad to Georgina for several reasons: 1: She knew about Georgiana's affection for and heartache over Wickham . 2. She saw that Georgiana liked Lizzy & a bond was forming. 3. She knew Darcy was starting to "fall" for Lizzy. 4. She was an 'uppity' bitch....continued.

  • @LizzieDoodle16 Continued.... 5. She was pissed off about her brother loving Lizzy's sister, Jane. 6. She wanted Georgiana's friendship so she could wiggle her way to Darcy. 7. She wanted Darcy to herself.

  • @LizzieDoodle16 ~Lizzy immediately went to Georgiana's side after the exchange of words with Miss Bingley about Wickman. In order to distract Georgiana & protect her from that witch she begin turning the pages of the music for the song she was playing. Lizzy's quick reaction to protect his sister, impressed Darcy as you can see by the look on his face. haha...hope this helps. :-)

  • @trw1501 You're wrong on several points: the Bennett family live close to Meryton and the militia moved from Meryton to Brighton; none of the Bingleys knew of the attempted elopement of Georgiana and Wickham because Darcy wished that Bingley would wed Georgiana; Lizzy went to the piano to give Georgiana an excuse for her gaffe in playing when she had heard Wickham's name mentioned. In the book, Caroline never dared to mention Wickham by name & Georgiana wasn't playing piano when this happened.

  • @trw1501 Caroline was only aware of the affections of Lizzy for Wickham and the mention of his name at Pemberly was to remind Darcy of this and the absurdity of the family's attraction to the militia. Remember that at the Netherfield ball, Caroline warned Lizzy not to believe in what Wickham said and that he had wronged Darcy, but didn't know how. Darcy kept secret the attempted elopement with his sister from everyone, especially the Bingleys & Hurst. Only Col. Fitzwilliam knew of this affair.

  • If only girls in real life were as thoughtful as Jane. I liked a girl who had an absolutly nuts family. When she found out that i disagreed with her family on how they behaved, she rejected me. Oh well, i guess thats the diff between movies and real life. In movies the nuts dosnt rub off on jane, but in real life the nuttyness actually rubs off.

  • I cannot stand the Bingley sisters! Grrrr

  • If you really love this BBC adaptation, I think you SHOULD buy the DVD. Not only will you have a better viewing experience, but also show your appreciation for all the good work done to create this wonderful mini-series.

  • @Javiervallestero True of course. But don't condemn all the viewers just yet! I own two copies of the DVD (the second one remastered or whatever). But still, when I'm at my laptop and can't concentrate on the work in hand, I sometimes watch Youtube films like these. Wouldn't be surprised if there are more people who use Youtube that way.

  • Is there no Episode 1: 1/6, 2/6, 4/6? I wasn't able to find them. Please upload and ty for uploading this :-)

  • I LOVE Colin Firth's expressions! 8:56!

  • I love Darcy's change of countenance and welcoming gestures when he decides to be so kind as take her to Jane

  • i am utterly smitten with mr darcy

  • i think what makes this version so beautiful is the littlest moments..

    like when

    - caroline talks on and darcy carries on what he's doing and lizzie says one thing and he's turned his whole body in her direction and just STARES at her

    - or when caroline tries to fault lizzie and darcy compliments her <<3

ahhhhhhhh i could continue watching it forever :)

  • @pinkycow123 i always like the way darcy looks at her..:)

  • @pinkycow123 me too

  • @pinkycow123 : Mr. Darcy: " -and not half a dozen would satisfy my notion of an accomplished woman."

Mr. Darcy: " and to all this, you must yet add something more substantial; the improvement of her mind by extensive reading." :D Oh Darcy...*SIGH*

  • @pinkycow123 totally agree!

  • Doesn't the Elizabeth from this version resemble Greer Garson from the 1940 version?

  • 21 people are lady catherine de berg.

  • it's absolutely ridiculous that this movie or any should be blocked. If I buy a movie and invite 20 people to come watch it,do those people have to pay the studio to watch?Maybe I send it home With 1person who invites 20of their friends to watch,do they all have to pay? No.Maybe I just pass it around freely for anyone to watch and loan to anyone else. everyone would watch it for free.In my opinion no one else is profiting from this.Studios need to change with the times and we all should complain

  • @bleyendfaith it is not ridiculous. Movies cost a lot of money. lots of effort goes into them. lots of planing. And it is the studios choice whether they want you to be able to watch it for free over the internet or not. TV productions are financed through the advertisement and DVD sells you watch during commercial breaks. And if the BBC has no contract with youtube, why should youtube be allowed to make money out of the BBCs property. the studio has loss. who buys dvds if they can watch online?

  • Why are so many parts missing! I can't watch it in bits and pieces!

  • what is that white thing moving near Maries chair at 0:19 ???

  • Mr. Bingley is so adorable

  • Betty Boop

  • "I rather wonder you know any.." Lol....Mr. Darcy will felt ouch by your words Lizzy

  • @seriouslymirah Actually, Eliza’s comments attacked scathingly the Bingley sisters, because they considered themselves the epitome of ‘accomplished women’ due to their wealth, position in society, education, attitude, poise and elan. There was serious warfare of words between the ladies of this scene. Darcy was caught in the middle.

  • @seriouslymirah The Bingley sisters in turn considered Lizzy a country bumpkin, lacking sophistication and education. However, Caroline was jealous of the attraction which Darcy had for this woman who lacked significant accomplishments. She tried to contrast Lizzy to herself and used herself as the yardstick for Georgiana to measure up to.

  • "On foot?"

Such a charmer you are, Darcy.

  • "i thank you no" .. be told!

  • I'm getting older or Darcy is getting younger.

  • Mr. Benet: “Our life holds few distinctions Mrs. Benet, but I think we may safely boast that here sit two of the silliest girls in the country"

now, that's funny....i had to LOL....

  • Mr. Darcy just won the Oscar and I love love Colin very much!!!

  • Lol Mr D ''On foot?'' it looks like he's trying to not laugh at her. i wouldn't blame him.

  • In comparison with the 2002 version this one is just awesome. I love watching it, thx for uploading.

  • Mrs. Bennett's character is perfect. her voice, her manner just what i imagined

  • Dont you love all the catty remarks of Bingley's sisters about Elizabeth and all the Bennetts when one of them is married to drunken clown?

  • HAH 2:10 there's so much attitude in that curtsey lizzie

  • @7:48 Love Caroline's line "Oh, dear Georgiana! (how) I long to see her!" So funny!

  • Didn't snooker originate in the late 19th century? And Jane Austen wrote this novel in the early 19th century..........just a thought ;)

  • @Dujsee hey..he's playing billiards :-)

  • have any of you watched Pride and Prejudice 2003- the American version.

They try to modernize it and then chuck in a few quotes- quite funny really!

  • mr hurst to me looks and acts like a pig

  • omg Caroline Bingley in this version looks so evil and scary- no wonder Darcy doesn't want anything to do with her!!

  • @zen22r did you know there are 3 or 4 Pride and prejudice books? you can read them online if you want.

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder...was there any cosmetic products back in the 17th-18th century?

  • even the dogs in this series are lovely.

And Mrs. Hurst... argh! you're a fine one to talk about lowly relations, being married to an unmannered lout like that boorish lump sitting next to you.

  • dirt or no dirt, there is nothing like a brisk walk in the English countryside.

  • Lidia is younger but has breasts two times larger than Mary

    poor Mary !

  • what's with this nbc ownership? can't see part 6\6... few months ago i watched the whole series with no problem..

  • I WANNA BREAK THE FINGERS OFF OF 18 PEOPLE THAT CLICKED DILIKE!!! NOOOOOOOO! IN THIS MOVIE YOU ARE NOT ALOUD TO DISLIKE! THERE'S NOTHING TO DISLIKE!!!!! AND NO! YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINION!!!! XD LOL

  • Elizabeth acts bitchy in this version..

  • i like the mr bingley and mrs bennet and elizabeth and jane better in the keira knightely version

otherwise i like all the other characters better in this one :)

  • Who is the woman at 6:51, the one with brown or rather black hair? In which way is she related to Mr. Darcy? She isn't his sister, is she?

  • @ThePianosarah The woman with the black hair and wearing the orange dress is Caroline Bingley. The other woman is Louisa Hurst; they are both the sisters of Mr. Bingley and are not related to Mr. Darcy (although the Bingley sisters wish otherwise).

  • @menthemidori Thank you. Now I understand better. But Caroline likes Mr. Darcy a lot, right?

  • @ThePianosarah Yes, but I think its safe to assume that she likes Mr. Darcy's fortune more than the man himself.

  • @ThePianosarah The two women are Bingley's sisters.

  • smoldering gaze alert!

  • mrs bennet voice is like a monthy python character...

like brians mother in life of brian.....

  • If Jane should die! hahaha I adore Mr Bennet. :D brilliant brilliant brilliant. its so funny to think of how Mr Bennet is such a different father than Mr Woodhouse in Emma. :D

  • I find this Mrs. Bennett to be the most insufferable of them all.

  • @bonjovifreak17 which in other words mean that this Mrs Benette fitted the role completely

i m not English so doesnt know much abt the society but to a non english person this version and actors luk best

  • @filza18pk very true :)

  • they are averry burefull and inturasting film iloov heeeeeeeeeeeee verry match my name is betty nounou

  • the word mischievous goes out to the sisters on Darcy side ^ ^

in this version, Mr. Darcy seems to have more power and authority than in the newer version

  • The mother is my favorite in Pride and Prejucide :)

  • It's funny the way Caroline is trying to pick away at Darcy's admiration for Elizabeth when she says

" I'm afeaid, Mr Darcy, that this escapade may have affected your admiration for her fine eyes"

and then Darcy says the opposite thing from which she expected and she's just left there smiling...

This version is cast so well!!!

  • @coolJessie123 yahmaraaaaaaaaa

  • Uh, Oh, looks like these videos are being removed...

  • This actress portraying Caroline Bingley is actually Jane Austen's niece-a few times removed!

  • This Lizzie is a lot more attractive than Keira Knightley. She actually has the body of a woman instead of a 12 year old boy. :)

  • @NikkiMikki789

However, Keira Knightley nailed the character of the book (a passionate young girl with high spirits), whereas Jennifer Ehle (much as I adore her as an actress) is too mature and ladylike for Elizabeth Bennet.

  • @TheGlaros

I disagree. Elizabeth is also a mature, responsible young woman. She is respected by her father, Darcy and The Gardiners'. Ehle captures the maturity and spirit of the character as well as relates to the period which the novel was written.

  • @lapagan01

Her father doesn't enjoy her company because she is mature, but because she is clever, lively and quick-witted. For the same reasons and for her arch manners Darcy feels attracted to her. I don't want to imply that Elizabeth Bennet is irresponsible, but Jennifer Ehle's portrayal was too matronly, it lacked high spirits.

  • @TheGlaros

Practically the entire film (2005 version) Keira Knightley blends with the background and hardly displays the passion and high spirits you attribute to her portrayal of Elizabeth. The only scene exempted would be the initial proposal scene from Mr.Darcy where personally I would have preferred a little less spewing of venom and jaw clenching.Pride and Prejudice is after all not a spin on "Taming of the Shrew". I do agree that Ehle is a bit matronly however.

  • @aria1232

We must have seen different films, because IMO Keira Knightley nails the character of the book. In the book Darcy misinterpretes her arch manners and that's why he thinks that she wants him to court her.

  • @TheGlaros

"However, Keira Knightley nailed the character of the book (a passionate young girl with high spirits)"

Well I would have put that down as Lydia's character not Elizabeth's (passion and high spirits). As to character depiction if this was a beauty contest Keira wins hands down. The camera does seem to adore her . But as far as capturing the essence of the character goes Jennifer Ehle does a superior job.

  • @aria1232

The book is a character development novel where both main characters experience personal growth. Elizabeth Bennet isn't a perfect, wise young lady from the very beginning. She is prejudiced and very much convinced of herself and her judgement. The sensible Charlotte Lucas tries to prevent her from teasing Darcy - and she goes and teases Darcy. - Passion and high spirits. The main difference to Lydia is that Lizzy is clever, not a fool.

  • @TheGlaros

Oh I do agree with the whole personal development journey. However the archness and "teasing" of Darcy by Elizabeth I would rather put it down to impertinence and a playful disposition than passion and high spirits.

  • @aria1232

Please don't be too severe with me, if I don't always find the most appropriate words! ;-) I am not a native speaker. However, I thought that this playful disposition, as you call it, was better conveyed by Keira Knightley than by Jennifer Ehle.

  • @TheGlaros

Someone mentioned on here I think that Ehle embodied Elizabeth in a sassy yet classy way. Pretty much my take as well.

  • @aria1232

IMO the main error of this miniseries is that Jennifer Ehle is too grown up and mature (matronly) from the very beginning and Darcy is ridiculed too much. As if it were mainly (if not only) him who is wrong and prejudiced and as if Elizabeth were right with her assumptions about him.

  • I don't know if this is the appropriate word, but there is a self-righteous note about it from the female point of view that I can't find in the novel.

  • hmph...4 is missing too now. youtube is utterly evil.

  • Jane Benett seems to have Mona Lisa's smile.

  • I love watching this version, it never gets old, simply the best :)

& I actually loved studying Pride and Prejudice for my GCSEs and mainly because I grew up watching this with my family :D

  • who's the woman with the black hair? she's pissin me off

  • Today's concept of beauty is very messed up. I, for one, believe that Jane Bennet is very beautiful. One does not need to be anorexic to be considered a beauty...

  • @YuukiNicole99 lizzy is pretty, but jane? she is not ugly because of her body. she has a hideous face. in fact, thats the reason they chose her for the role.

  • @IwantOutt She does not have a "hideous face." I don't think she's as pretty as Jane Bennett should be, given that she is supposed to a great beauty. But she isn't ugly, and I'm sure they chose her for the role because she portrays Jane's sweet nature very well.

  • @IwantOutt no, the chose her for the role because in Victorian England that WAS how conventionally beautiful women looked. With very "Roman" like features and small breasted.....I think lizzy is pretty too but in those days she wouldn't be considered "hott"

  • @YuukiNicole99 I agree that she's beautiful but she's bovine intellectually.

  • What does anorexia have to do with it? It's her face that's hideous!

  • I love this version! Jennifer Ehle is so beautiful. God, I wish I looked like that.

But I do prefer Matthew MacFadyen as Mr. Darcy. He's even more handsome than Firth and less stiff. And I laugh everytime when I hear the father say that two of the silliest girls in the world are sitting at their table.

  • I absolutely love this movie.

  • at 9:11

oh that wonderful gaze from Darcy <3

  • You know. I wouldn't mind living in those days just for a few weeks :) To see what its like

  • "Not at all, they were brightened by the excercise...."

  • I rather wear a gown from the 18th or 19th century than the trash that they sell these days and they have the nerve to the crap we wear today fashion! Luckily my Mom and my Grandmother were seamtresses and my Mom is going to teach me!

  • what does she say when asked "Do you play Miss Bennett?" I have a ... indeed?

  • @Reddybyes she said: "Aye, but very ill"... Gawd, I love this version of P&P :D

  • @sarahturt Thanks :)

  • @Reddybyes elizabeth bennet says 'aye but very ill indeed'
