Black and White Played on Kinect Hack (FAAST) without Mote

I've always thought that Black & White makes the most sense for a Kinect game. After all, you play the entire game as a disembodied hand which can cast miracles through various gestures. Top this with the fact that Lionhead clearly has an interest in Kinect and it seems like the perfect match.

Your videos perfectly illustrates how microsoft missed an oppertunity when they decided the KINECT should work completely without peripherials, it's obvious that the KINECT + something like the nunchuck is much much much more powerful

This is why the Kinect is the future of gaming, while Move and the Wii are great, games with intuitive controls that you can get up (or sit down) and control with your hands make the experience even more immersive. There are so many things they can do with this new toy, from FPS stuff to spell casting on a Harry Potter game. I would love to see a Mirror's Edge type of game for the kinect, that would be THE game for me.

This was the first game that popped into my head as perfect for the Natal/Kinect! Nice to see someone with actuall programming abilities was on the same track. ::high five:: Now if only you could get the Kinect to recognize finger positions for grabbing.

one last ?. Do you think that the kinect would interfere with the IR signal from the Nvidia 3d fusion dongle?

@JustKOF Erm I dunno, can I come over and find out? Sounds like quite a setup your getting yourself there! Kinect doesn't seem to have issue with other IR devices (or cause them issue) IR on a wiimote works just fine (but I haven't been able to find or hack together a good enough script for it yet) even if you have the sensor bar right on top of it (weird I know). Anyways, back to my PC made from reclaimed components I found lying around the house!

Lol thanks. It's affordable comparatively especially with credit, sales and bargain hunting. I bought the parts over the span of a year to keep cost down. The projector is the cheapest and best way to go 3d. Take a look at the Acer H5360, it goes for around $500us. A 86" manual pull down screen cost me less then $80 or even you can DIY. I buy mid-range PC parts and sell older parts on Ebay every 6-12 months to keep up. I use it for work also. Thanks for all of your help.

@superhinnie And your point? The wiimote has buttons that can be used for more detailed settings. It also has vibration and feels great with certain gun attachments which allows you to reload and shoot with the sensation of holding a real gun. The IR for the wii sucks which is why i wanted to see how precise the kinect would be for gun control. I

Do you think that it's possible to hold the wiimote in a gun attachment while using the mouse movement from FAAST? I'm thinking the accuracy would be far better then using the gyro or IR from the wiimote. Also, i still want to use the button to simulate actual shooting and feel the feedback. I'm still setting up my space (projector mount and kinect stand coming) so i haven't gotten around to working the kinect yet.

@JustKOF I'll check this out for you tomorrow, its something I want to mess with too... well combining both really. Imagine this, gyros for turning and absolute positioning for aiming - with a bit of practice that would be better then mouse control!

@davezpsp I'm afraid the IR camera doesn't work that way :( would be nice though! try playing with the angle - I can get it working in my office which is only about 8ft by 8ft, including my desk! The official Kinect games however might have other ideas and not let you proceed :(
