  • I have a version of this that has two gates instead of one, and uses Life-Like's Power-Loc track. It came with my Freight Runner HO-scale train set (other accessories included a 90-degree cross track for the figure eight layout, a stock pen with little human and farm animal figures for it, a train station building kit, some trees, automobiles, signs and utility poles. I've actually switched to using Code-83 track now, but I still have the train and accessories on it.

  • Looks like that Life Like Gate isn't "Life Like" enough

  • Gate says "om nom nom".

  • LOL - the gate is trying to kill you! For more realistic operation try Walthers signals and gates connected to under-table Tortoise switch machines.

  • I wish Life-Like would get their act together and get the crossing signals right. The crossbuck isn't black with white text. It's supposed to be the other way with black text and a white crossbuck. The gate (it is not an arm it is a gate people!) isn't black and yellow it is RED and WHITE!. But nice vid though!

  • @177987auprr1 - It's actually a half boom, not a gate or an arm. The Life-Like one is modelled on what they looked like forty-odd years ago, when Life-Like started making crossings.

  • @177987auprr1 That's because they first began making that in 1978. Many HO-scale manufacturers have followed this practice; Athearn, Tyco, and others.

  • I might get one

  • The arm is to stop the car from backing up when the train is trying to eat it :D

  • @nathan82206

ha~ The truth behind that gate..

  • Has anybody tinkered with the mechanism to see if they could slightly reduce the spring tension to keep the gates down?

  • in my crossing gates i took of the gate so it could be a non gate crossing

  • at least it costs less than other electric trains

  • that gate is retarted

  • It's the suicide gate.

  • @tryithere

    cool~

  • i had this along time ago and its broke i just push the train and boom gone

  • Life-like Is shit. It's good for 5-10 yr olds to get into the hobby. BACHMANN's are the better buy. I still have my life-like. I gave them LED's and sounds. Plus I gave the cars and engine more detail. I gave them bachmann motors too.

  • @Jared1452 I agree.

  • made in china......thats says it fucking all !!!

  • I had a few of these myself, I actually still have the signal but the base is gone. That is the best you can get without eletricity, considering the whole thing works on levers and the trains weight. I had one that was made by Bachmann, included the lights and bells, but the darn thing would derail my cars. Good for beginners but in time I would get something more prototypical.

  • I have this crossing but never use it. The arms bouncing up and down always piss me off.

  • Ha ha! I had that thing when I was a little kid! Drove me nuts how it went up and down (I cant tell you how many I broke by cutting the "wood" planks to the length of the actual road before I realized how it worked!) Memories!

  • GOINGUP AND DOWN NO TRAIN AND FOXS

  • Yeah on long cars like passengers the gate will bounce but on shorter freight car it will stay down longer. I had this in N-Scale when I was younger. It's OK but eventually want something more realistic.

  • @unionpacifictrain - hope you learned your lesson between then and now - don't forward chain spam.

  • @JBofBrisbane chain spam is rediculous, its a tually really annoying, i will never post chain spam again.

  • its a waste of money

  • well my reason is because the gate doesn't stay down and that thing is a piece of crap!

  • right~that's true

  • @unionpacifictrain because it uses a pressure board and the cars r 2 long 4 it

  • your right there life like pieces of shit!

  • @unionpacifictrain Life-Like is shit, so I went for Bachmann and a hell of a lot better

  • @MrLuebeck aint that the truth i know this cause i own a life like loco and it craps out at every point on the track so i broke down and bought a used Walthers that only needed lubrication.

  • that thing is a life like piece of shit and diarrhea !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beside giving your comment, please also give your reason.

  • What happend to your video?

  • !? It's fine.

  • Sorry. When I last played it it said: "Were sorry the video has been removed."

  • hey~thx for your advice...

  • @LivengoodTodd I agree. I went from Life-Like to Bachmann and a hell of a lot better

  • nice but if that was real life the car wud get crushed cos of how late the signals went down

  • haha~that's true

  • I switching back to just regular HO because of stuff like this and that most railroad locomotives and rolling stock are for just a regular HO scale. My old Power-Loc set I had I threw it away in the garbage.

  • leave the poor guy alone, what did he ever do to you. great video, nice crossing!

  • this crosseing is nice!!!!!!

  • right..... and no electricity required ^^"

  • ugh I hated that kind of crossing setup. the gates would go up and down and wasn't real at all. good video anyways.

  • thx~ :p

  • it's a Life Like crossing gate which bought many years ago

  • not life like to me lol, cool signals anyways

  • was that an original union pacific set? if so than i got that for christmas 2 years ago
