I don't know her real name, but she goes by "Red Scarlet" and this speed run is in the Genis Books of World Records as the fastest 100% speed run ever recorded. There are other videos on youtube that are faster than this speed run, but only because they hacked the game. Red Scarlet did no do any hacks and this is 100% real and legit.

it's hard to explain when I do the spin jump on a wall while holding the run button I quickly turn in the opposite direction of the wall and then while still holding the run button, press in the same direction of the wall and jump button at the same time. u have to get a feel of it to get it it down.

Oh come on. I've beaten this game twice, and already I'm not bad at the wall jump. Just jump towards a wall and then you'll see Samus turn around. When that happens push the d-pad in the opposite direction of the wall and jump. It takes practice and I'm no expert at it, but you'll get better if you just keep at it.

What she did here is amazing, so I hope this doesnt get taken the wrong way.. but there are SO many mistakes in this run, especially since a lot of it is right at the very beginning. Im surprised nobody has simply taken this route but done it cleaner to surpass this, or is something like that considered bad etiquette in the speed running world?

Go to the Speed Demos Archive site and look at the Super Metroid Speedrun comments made by Red Scarlet. She obviously states how there are many mistakes she made during the run but felt satisfied with the results anyways.

Regardless of the mistakes she made, it's almost impossible to really replicate what she's done anyways for a minute less. 55 minutes in the end is one very impossible run to try and beat :P

Yea youre probably right, I know its not something I could ever take on. What Ive watched is incredible, so I wasnt trying to rag. I just noticed that this is years old and was surprised nobody has tried to overtake it. I suppose something like isnt a "sit down and go for it" kinda thing, probly takes a ridiculous amount of time and planning.

He didn't get the energy tank the first time because he had full health. Energy tanks give you full health so if your doing a speed run its a quick and easy way to refill your health so you can keep playing.

Getting a tank give you full health, that's why Scarlet skips it and gets it later, to skip having to recharge health.

Just run and do a wall jump. Its a bit easier if you open the door to get a slightly larger platform to get a running start on.

Sok. 2 do the wall jump hit ur jump button and the opposite direction of the wall at the same time...causing you 2 walljump. Learned it from the little critters in Brinstar. =P

I think it's an "energy balance" thing, saving that energy tank for later. From what I can tell, when you're running through this fast you have to closely regulate your energy level due to the all of the super leaps and similar; an energy tank can be a free restore point.

The high jump boots get removed in several areas so that the arc of your jump doesn't hit the ceiling, which slows you down.

Also, this isn't me, my run time is 1:02, I'm a slowpoke. This run was done by Red Scarlet, and I believe is still the world record.
