dude you need to buy a tv tuner on ebay that comes with WinPVR hook your VCR to that and hit play on the vcr and record on the winpvr. I bought mine for $16.
Unfortunately the main stream news makes it look like Texas was out of it. Nothing could be further from the truth. Houston was one of the top alternative and club scenes in the country especially early on. Razormaid shipped more samples to Houston second only to New York in the 80's. Love the reference to the Oilers - LOL

yeah, all roughly 25 million people living in throughout this massive state have never heard of anything. what the hell are you talking about, man? explain the place in which you live where everyone has heard of and knows everything. i'd love know. where do you come from that makes you so awesome? let's hear it. enlighten us texans. thanks, bud.
I moved to Houston in 2006 from the UK and one of the biggest shocks was the low quality and tackiness of the local news. I see back then was even worse and I just can't believe some of the presenters (who seem in their 40s) never heard of Morrissey (The Smiths anyone?)
wow. this is in 92. the smiths started in 84, and the main thing the reporters keep saying is what an obscure singer he is, based on the fact that they never heard of him. i'm guessing they didn't know many popular singers from that time. i can't imagine those particular news casters had much of a record collection.
WOW. Thanks for posting this. I was there that day and it was great meeting and hugging Morrissey. It was great hanging out with everyone in line; in fact, I think I had too much fun and ended up puking on the side on Record Rack. Oh well, it was worth it!
for all his fans my friend he is our GOD,because he coult translate our fears, feelings and insecurities but not in a way of feeling bad to be like that but a way of feeling proud of being like this.
you can see me in all my glory at the 06:55 mark. how funny that someone would post this wonderful memory from a long time ago. i started collecting the records in 85' and have them insured.
i was the hispanic guy with the pink bowling shirt and sunglasses. man that was fun. The bowling shirt had Boz stitched on it. Those were the days. My friend took a poll and I was the only person that could play most of the smiths/morrissey songs on guitar in that huge fuckin line. He took a poll, man! It was scientific.
of course the newscasters have never heard of him, they're idiots. i love the girl at the 1 minute mark. she kisses his cheek, turns, hurries away saying "oh my god". awesome.
I was there. About 6 or 7th in line. It was HOT, and we camped out overnight. Morrissey signed his new single at the time "Your the One for Me Fatty" in crayon. I have half of the autograph on the record now. Shawn, Tony, if you see this -- what's up?!
While the Record Rack was cool, it really catered to newer stuff. I preferred Infinite Records in the old house, Record Exchange, and there was a cool little cd shop near the slight curve on Westheimer.
I remember that record store on the curve on Westheimer. I was part of that crowd during the late 1980's and early 1990's that hung out on lower Westheimer. Those were the days, my friend!!
Oh wow...thanks for posting that! I was there, too...waaaaay at the back of the line. I remember I was 347 and they ran out of bracelets maybe five or six people after me (so much for 500...remember the protest?). Will be there Monday, too!!
I was there, too! I'm the dorky girl in glasses at the end saying "He's like a god!" Ahhhh...to be so young again! :-) Thanks to my friend who found this video! Great memories!
I was the first person in line. I had no idea this video was on YouTube.
Yes, I know I looked like trash in these videos, but believe me, it was very hot.
I remember walking into the Record Rack the day before Morrissey arrived and asking where I should wait to meet him. The guy looked at me and realized it was going to be a long night. I remember that day like it was yesterday.
"I started something I couldn't finish" You sang, And I ran Out of the room Hands over ears Gripped by fears Of perforations and tears To my eardrum. Ho hum. Song sung Blue. You Never knew How much I really disliked you.
In a river The colour of lead I casually tossed The Queen Is Dead But with His Singing still in my Head, My ears bled. Better off dead I thought. So I jumped in also.
I wandered lonely As a crowd Of Mozz fans At a good taste convention Where mere mention Of His name Could inflame A small shy typist To reflect And plan a mass murder Of the Pope of mope And cretins who hoped In vain to meet him At Record Rack. A justified attack, Any Jury would back.
Please go and watch videos of music that you do like, rather than spewing bile about Morrissey fans. Thankfully most of us have the decency not to reply as savagely as you.
It was dark as I Was ramming The spamming Home. And on a cold leather seat While eating meat Flavoured crisps It suddenly struck me It isn't murder at all Just cowslaughter. Lock up your daughter 10 years with good behaviour. He has forgiven Jesus The Saviour. What flavour? Beef and onion.
OMG, KTRK's L@5 set looked awful, IMO. No offense to anyone though. I grew up in Boston, and thank goodness the ABC station there isn't an O&O, because they're not as good as non-O&O's, IMO.
I can't believe I found this video! My best friend and I were there and we met him and I'll never forget it! We were absolutely in awe of the great and wonderful Moz.
Thanks for everything, Bruce!! I can tell you I had many a late car payment because I would blow all my cash in your store. RR was the BEST! Truly a Houston icon and I was sick to see it go. I still have all the vinyl I bought there. You made my 20s more memorable than anyone else!! THANK YOU!!!
Wow. I lived in the area and don't know how I missed this. Record Rack was awesome! Fortunately, I got to meet Morrissey a few years ago. I went to go see him in concert in Miami and randomly ran into him walking on the beach. It was amazing. He was by himself and talked to me for about 5 minutes!
Great to see this !! it's so emotinal to see this footage i got to meet him finally in oaris 2002 and got his authograph !! but in 1989 i got a handwritten postcard from him after writing a letter to him !! i was speechles...... and i'm still a fan i saw him 3 times this year live and next concert is brussels !! thxs Viva Moz !!!

It's funny how back in the day, Morrissey fans all looked like regular healthy happy white kids, but now they are all Mexicans and fags.
I had that interview T-shirt they show at the 1:40-second mark.

@CurlyPubis And the happy white kids, grew up to be disappointed adults. I know. Some of them are on Morrissey Solo.

Such a shame that the Record Rack is gone now. Along with Nu Beat, Vinyl Edge, Sound Exchange...
There used to be 100 great record stores in this city, now there are what...2, 3 maybe?
Damn, the Houston music scene has changed so much since the internet. All for the worse.
