  • Fan asså vad jag hatar Surströmming

  • This is sooo disgusting! I would never eat it.. or smell it!!

  • It's not rotten, it's fermented.

    I would suggest not to eat the intestines and enjoy the rest of the fish chilled together with "tunnbröd" (a soft, thin kind of bread), chopped red onion, dill, boiled potato and perhaps some gräddfil (Swedish sourcream). Simply make a wrap of these ingredients and don't forget about the beer and "snaps"!

    I'm convinced most people could eat surströmming served in this way, especially if they never were told it's rotten fish.

  • @scholion

    Fermentation is basically the breaking down of a substance, which is what rotting essentially is. Though the fish isn't rotten, it's definitely rotting.

  • @DragonStarlight rotting is decomposing of proteins, which isnt happening here

  • @scholion "surstromming + bread, red onion, dill, potato and sourcream"

    So basically you're saying to cover up the flavor with stuff that tastes good. You could hand your friend a bit of human shit covered in those items and he'd probably eat it. What's the point of creating a food where the point is not to taste it? >_<;;

  • @HumaneAnon you always eat stuff "as is" ? you never combine anything?

  • Indeed! It smells like a dead animal on the highway.. No, that smells good compared to surströmming, but it TASTES great

  • I love surströmming ^^ taste gr8!
