  • This movie Bad

  • In the swimming scene it's the Olympic champion who appears, as pwgr2000 correctly points out. It is plain immoral to show such full nudity in a film watched by so many minors. In the rest of the movie it's Maureen O'Sullivan, who wears a scanty costume that often exposes bare buttocks.

  • @canyonade you need not own a damn TV...whats wrong with seein the human body?

  • @unomattwill i always find it interesting that those that want to view a nude human either want the body young, thin, and good looking. how come you never hear of anyone that wants to view a human that's either old, fat,or ugly ?

  • What you need to understand is that the human race is both complex and unpredictable. There are sexual websites out there catering to fetishes for exactly these three categories - the old, the fat and the ugly, and sometimes all three together. What you are talking about is the preferences of the majority, not the totality, so "never" is the wrong word.

  • Tarzan Faces A Feminine Menace For The First Time indeed!!! With Johnny Weissmuller looking outstanding at age 41, the producers not only trimmed his loincloth to its skimpiest since Tarzan Escapes, but they also couldn't pass up the titillating opportunity to put Tarzan in bondage being threatened with torture by an exotically sexy woman in Acquanetta.

Even though she does not follow through with torturing him (unfortunately), it's still one of the most "adult" scenes ever in a Tarzan film.

  • Did'nt Maureen O Sullivan do a nude swimming scene in that movie? I remember watching a Little Rascals where Spanky , about three years old was telling babies as small as him about Tarzan. It was the one where Spanky was in charge of the babies and he was a baby himself. He glued their diapers to the floor. One baby kept saying "Remarkable!" I think it was Wheezers real life brother.

  • Maureen O'Sullivan's last Tarzan film had been 'Tarzan's New York Adventure' in 1942, Weissmuller's last film with MGM. She didn't want to continue with the series when it moved to RKO studios in 1943 and Brenda Joyce took over as Jane.

The nude scene you are referring to is from 'Tarzan and His Mate' from 1934 but a former Olympic swimmer named Josephine McKim doubled for Ms O'Sullivan in those scenes.

  • @Sheri451

As pwgr2000 says, it was the Olympic swimmer who did the scene. Be as it tmay, the scene was not suitable for minor audiences, or for any audiences. She was totally nude. And in the movie itself, the real Jane wore a very scant costume that often displayed her buttocks.

  • Dear pgw2000,

If you go to 37:28 you'll see his testicles. Morality must be upheld. In my church this video was played several times and the segment mentioned was the subject of lively discussion every single time.

  • @canyonade you are so fried! get a grip!

  • In "Tarzan the Ape Man" (1932), Johnny Weissmuller fights a leopard. At 37:28 his loincloth is very loose and his testicles are clearly visible. You can see if you play it in very slow motion.

  • How come I keep getting comments about glimpses of Johnny Weissmuller's testicles? I hope you don't mind if I do not run to my DVD and fast forward to this less-than-delectable scene.

  • Acquanetta was a lovely woman.

  • At 3:52, when Tarzan fights, his loincloth isn't tight enough and you can see part of his left testicle.

  • Dear pwgr2000,

My comment was about Tarzan and the Magic Fountain, not Tarzan and the Leopard Woman. In two of the very last scenes (one of them when Tarzan and Jane are coming down the cliff) you can see Janes buttocks.

By the way, in Tarzan and the Leopard Woman, in the first few minutes, Tarzan is fighting and as his loincloth is not really tight you can see part of his left testicle.

  • I know you are talking about Magic Fountain, because you clearly said that film had bare buttocks in it, and my comment related to that film.

I went back and watched the last 15 minutes of that film and could not find any bare buttocks, only the brief upskirt shot.

  • Brenda Joyce had the most beautiful legs and thighs of all the Janes. What a pity that she was so covered up. But in "Tarzan and the Magic Fountain" she shows some bare buttocks (in one of the last scenes).

  • This is a very strange comment. I've seen this film many times and I certainly had no recollection of any bare buttocks in it as the actors wore commodious pantaloons under their animal skins.

The mid 1940s was the era when the Hayes Code dictated all levels of propriety in mainstream US cinema and bare buttocks were strictly forbidden.

There is a mild upskirt shot as Tarzan rescues Jane from the flaming arrows as they are descending the cliff towards the end of the film. No buttocks.

  • Take a good look at those last scenes. You can see her buttocks under her skirt.

  • This is my favorite Tarzan film. Johnny Weissmuller was in incredible shape here.

Brenda Joyce was a Gorgeous Jane and Acquanetta was incredibly sexy as Lea.I love the scene where she threatens to torture Tarzan with her Claw!-Great Stuff!

  • Thanks. Don't forget to visit my web page about that film. It has information about the making of the film, a plot summary, a couple of black and white photos and a full set of colour lobby cards from the film. The link is in the commments section.

  • Can you give me the link of this film? I was a child when i watched it. I lived in a little farm here in Brasil.

  • The link is in the "More Info" section at the top right, under the yellow "Subscribe" button.

  • Great to see Acquanetta! Is the film in the public domain yet? Any chance of clips? Thanks for putting this up.

  • No, Warners control the rights to this film and they have released a nice print of it on "The Tarzan Collection - Vol 2", which contains all six RKO Weismuller films. Vol. 1 contains all six MGM Weismuller films.

Don't forget to visit my web page about this film to see more photos of Aquanetta as the Leopard Woman, including a full set of lobby cards for the film, plus background information about the production. See the "About This Video" section for the link.

  • What's your website?

  • You can find the link to my website on my channel. As my previous message said, the link to the page about "Tarzan and the Leopard Woman" is in the information posted when this clip was uploaded.

  • Her death took place in Phoenix, AZ, where she owned a property exhibiting Acquanetta memorabilia. Is that still going? The public really deserved more of this enchanting and mysterious woman!
