@Seektruth1st Well the 323gtr has about 200hp (1.8L turbo) and is awd if I'm not mistaken. Also, it weights about 2200 lbs. The KLDE mx6 has 160 hp and weights about 2800 lbs. If it were a klze mx6 it would be about 200 hp. Just so you can understand: taking 600 lbs off a car takes off about 1.5 seconds on the 1/4 mile on an mx6. So if both were at 200hp, the 323 should have about 1.5 seconds faster which is about 65m difference (roughly 13 car lengths)
@Seektruth1st This of course is very roughly calculated, not taking into consideration clutch, fl;ywheel, driving skills, tires and a whole bunch of factors that come into play. Anyways DE = 160hp ZE = 200hp, thats a 25% upgrade + the ZE has flat head pistons for a higher compression and has a better response. and a 7500rpm limiter rather than 7000rpm
@atreyukicks Thanks for all that info there, though just one more thing. Is there any way to tell the difference from a DE and ZE ar a glance? Say if I were shopping for one of these Mazdas?
@Seektruth1st The intake manifold gives it away. The klde has a very short "neck" (the part right after the throttle body onto the intake manifold) and the ze has a long one. Here are two pics that can help you:
@atreyukicks Thanks for that, I am thinking of getting one of these cars, they seem cheap for what they are considering the original retail price too. Most reviews and feed back seems good though you sound as though you have a bit of knowledge on the car.
Whats your opinion of them? Either model and reliability in general...
Is the DE acceptably quick for what it is you think?
id be happy if it is at least the same as a VY commodore or stock Magna
@Seektruth1st The DE is fast enough however the ZE is just so much more fun :P Most used mx6's on the market already have a ZE swapped into them (At least here in Quebec they do) and go for anywhere between 1000 - 2500 $ with the ZE already swapped in it. As for speed: It is faster than a mustang GT. It might only have 200hp but it only weighs about 2700 lbs which is like 1000lbs lighter than mustangs. The mx6 also has short gears, you will be running at 3000rpm at 60 mph in 5th gear.
@atreyukicks Yeah I have watched a few videos on them and they do go nicely.Im in Aus but there are a ot of them around though not sure how common the ZE swap over is.
How many secs you think the stock DE will run up 0-60mph or 0-100km?
@Seektruth1st it varies from driver to driver but the ze should have maybe half a second faster. The DE should be able to do about 6, maybe 6.5sec 0-60mph, then again I have never done a 0-60 in a DE :S
@Seektruth1st As for reliability: You can beat the crap out of the ZE and it will still run.... just let it warm up before you gun it and you'll be fine. Also don't forget: larger engine doesn't necessarily mean faster. Most American v6's with bigger displacement than the Mazda kl engines don't even produce as much power..... the 3.0 and 3.1l gm engines in most cars in the 90's only made about 150-170 hp while the 2.5l klze makes 200hp.
o lolku malo wiesz, a raczej nic, jak widzisz on nie gustuje tam w siatexach, a auto doinwestowane, jest filmik ze zlotu mazdaspeed- mx6 piotrusia, gtr nie pamietam juz

the 323 should have won by a couple car lengths... especially if the mx6 is the klde and not the klze. The 323 weights like 800lbs less XD

An obvious giveaway that it is one or the other?
Cheers.
