  • de el ultimo modelo no hablo,lei que lo hicieron mas europeo y ahora si esta fuerte,pero del primer modelo de gt500 es un trasto,consola interior como la de un ford fiesta,plasticos del motor de la misma calidad que un ford fiesta en un coche de mas de 300cv,os lo explico,ese coche donde yo vivo en pleno verano dandole caña por una carretera de curvas y pasa de ford mustang a ford antorcha que hasta la carcel cojo,con un m3 e36 que tiene menos cv me lo como con PA-ta-tas fritas¡¡¡jajajajaja

    I wouldn't get one though, I'd still get a 2011 5.0 Mustang GT and slap on a supercharger.

    The 2011 Mustang GT runs the same #'s as a BMW M3 for 30,000$ less.

  • Simply the best car ever laid down by Detroit. The 03-04 Cobras were fast and had a lot of potential, but theres more potential in the GT500 . 5.4 litres , GT heads ,, the old 03-04 Cobras , albeit awesome, were only 4.6 motors. Money for maoney in mods, the GT500 will eat its lunch. And with a few bolt ons, they will take new ZO6s too. Just a killer car.

  • no, the 5.4 is just a stroked and bored 4.6, same motor...the 03-04 cobra is lighter too. Plus, mods are cheaper for the cobra, I have a 634rwhp cobra...I gave my 98 gt with 175,000 miles and 11,000 for it...beat that with a gt500???? The cheapest shelby I could find was a mammoth supercharged one with heavy mods (OHHHH YEAA!!!!) for 32,000...hell of a deal, but love the cobra...just matters what your opinion is really, lol!

  • @wignigeater You need to see 5.0 Mustangs very thorough test between a "Terminator" and a "Condor" , the designated engine names. In stock form, the 08 Shelby they had beat the 03 Cobra significantly. They then added equal mods, which test results put the Shelby SIGNIFICANTLY faster , once again, EQUALLY modded . Its a cool article. By the way, the 5.4 is NOT the same engine. You may want to read up on that. I do like the 03/04s, but they were replaced by the Shelby for a reason.

  • no, plus they are much much more expensive to maintain and mod. I LOOOOVVVEEE them, don't get me wrong, but if you wanna go super performance, get the 03-04 because they have been out longer and therefore are cheaper/easier to mod in any way.

  • @wignigeater yes theyve been out longer but the fact is stock or EQUALLY modded a Shelby is faster . The engine is a better engine in the Shelby, thats why the 03-04s engines arent in the Shelbys . Im rather skeptical of the new aluminum 5.4 too,, aluminum isnt near as strong as iron, despite the sleeves . I love the 03-04s, they are great cars with INSANE potential, just not "as" insane of potential in the Shelbys. Both are great American muscle machines.

    But the 2011 5.0 Mustang looks more appealing with it's price tag + aftermarket potential.

  • I try and study different types of dialect so I can understand what people from all walks of life are saying. Some do say hood overseas, but it's about as common as someone over calling it a bonnete.

  • Yes, but you have higher octane fuel, allowing for fairly stout compression ratios.

    From what I've observed Europe's performance vehicles are one of two things when compared to the GT500, half the size, or twice the price.

    I would like to see even smaller engines (V8's of course, I'm a Yankee) making more power here in the states, but we're still on that "there's no replacement for displacement" mindset...

  • In europe a cars horse power is measured by the output to the rear/front wheels not the crank.

  • I can appreciate that, FireBirdKnight. Drive wheel power is a more realistic expression of potential performance. Still the car is an American car sold to a primarily American market. If the SAE, (Society of Automotive Engineers), measure horse power at the crank then some credit should be given to the notion that it is a 500bhp, (Brake Horse Power which means measured at the crank), car. There is no false advertisement on the part of Ford when it comes to the power output of the Shelby GT 500.

  • Yep I was just mentioning that the guy was from Europe where we measure HP in a different way, I love my muscle cars and appreciate the difference between them and Euro performance cars :).

I think we are on the same page though when it comes to mutual respect for the differences between European and American performance. Still I would like the see the differences between them blurred a little more. It would be nice to see a stock Mustang hold with a BMW or a Jag in the corners before I die.

  • Yea he was ott with that comment while Mustangs may not be my favorite muscle car I can appreciate them as great muscle cars. I'd like to see Ford pour more into the production value of the Mustangs as you said I'd like to see it hold it's own against a BMW.

    I saw a video of it going around a track against a Lotus Elise and it just it's edge in the corner due to it still using a live rear axle. If Chevy can manufacture the Camaro with a limited slip diff etc why can't Ford?

  • True that. I saw a similar match up between the Mustang and the Elise on Top Gear a ways back. Still I can't see a Mustang, even without a live axle, beating a Elise around the Top Gear proving grounds any time soon. When it comes to the live rear axle fail I could not agree with you more, despite the fact the the 2010 Mustang turns in harder, the Camaro enjoys a higher slalom speed because of it's independent rear suspension and LSD. A shame really the Mustang is 300lbs lighter than the Camaro.

  • Yea I think that is actually where I saw it lol. True the Mustang without the live rear axle would have trouble beating the elise with the weight difference. I guess Ford are pushing the Mustang sales based on it's name and heritage rather than build quality.

  • I am a fan of the of the old '66 Mustang, because I owned one. The new ones don't inspire me the same way. My loyalty to that old Mustang makes me protect the new ones. I agree though the Mustang could have a better build quality, a poor weather seal on the windows is just bad business. I learned to drive in a canyon with allot of corners, so yes I feel the Mustang would benefit from IFS and LSD. Though heavier and more expensive than the Mustang, the Camaro is the better car for the time being.

  • I agree with you there I like the classic Mustangs they have character, the new one is just a bit on the chunky side for me I know it's got to be bigger for all the new required safety features but still :).

    With the new Camaro out I'd expect Ford to raise their standards on the Mustang build it would be suicide not to.

  • The Camaro has without question raised the bar, Ford needs to step up and find a way to meet the challenge. Consider that GM built the Camaro on the Australia based Holden, Commodore platform. Now think of the Mustang's roots. The '66 Mustang was based on the US Ford Falcon, which is still made, and raced by Ford of Australia. If the Commodore and Falcon compete in V8 Supercar, then perhaps Australia is where Ford should look for the solution to the Mustang's handling woes.

  • To do honest I have not driven the new Camaro so I have no right to speak for it's comfort. I can only go by what the reviews have said. The fact that the 2010 Camaro maintains a higher slalom speed despite it's higher weight and softer suspension settings supports my assertion that Ford should offer the option for an independent rear end to interested buyers. Bear in mind that in the real world curves have bumps mid corner.

  • Plz tell me you ppl aren't going to get this SVT over the Roush 427R? Much better car that outperforms this car in every way. Sadly the 500 just isnt performing up to its price tag =(. If you want a name, get the GT500.. if you want performance, get the Roush. Not to mention the last batch of roush was the last to be made. Resale value on them will be amazing.

  • its coming...not sure if u know but the Ford "777" mod motor is a stroked version of the 6.2 thats in development for the 2010 mustang...its codenamed the 777 for its figures...7.0 liters, 700hp @7k rpms naturally aspirated

  • i think the mustang is getting a 302 again...its the same 4.6 3-valve 281 ci. but stroked to 302 ci. its supposedly goin to make 350hp and maybe the BOSS 6.2 4-valve for the next gen GT500. the 2010 GT will be underpowered when compared to the camaro but it'll be cheaper as usual, which leaves money left over for mods to beat camaro and challenger all over again.

  • I own a 2004 Terminator Cobra, a bit cheaper than the new GT500 heh, basically the same engine, just 110hp less. But because the shelby is so heavy, the '03/04 Cobra's can usually out pace them in a straight line, even through the corners as they have a IRS, where the Shelby is a live axle.

    Great cars tho, my friends father just bought one, I love it!

  • Why does ford always had superchargers to there sports cars? can they make bigger engines? They always use the cheap triton 5.4 or the 4.6

  • triton 4.6&5.4 are truck engines, that and the modular architecture (tight cylinder spacing) doesnt allow for alot of cubes. its so much easier to make power with FI, which correct me if im wrong, is what any gearhead would want. the 4.6 terminator cobra can easily make twice its factory rating of 390hp. evolotion performance just made over 1000hp on a TT-GT5OO STOCK BLOCK/INTERNALS. we should be greatful a manufacturer builds their engines to take the abuse like Ford/SVT does

  • MY FAVORITE CAR IS THE Z06 NOT ZR1 and yes the ZR1 is Supercharged but it has a 6.2L not a 4.6L or 5.4L plus a independent suspension not solid

  • There wasnt enough space in the hood for a supercharger in a LS7 i believe, i read it somewhere, so they had to put a supercharger in a LS3, however i think they added more displacement than usual LS3. anyways just proves that chevy beats ford.

  • actually GM felt the cylinder walls in the LS7 were too thin to handle boost so they went with the LS3 for reliability. evolution performance built a TT-GT500 that made over 1000hp on the stock block/internals...your LS7 cant do that without EXTENSIVE mods...9:1 compression pistons, forged crank and rods, and headporting. the lingenfelter TT-Z06 needed all this to keep up with the FGT-TT with its stock block internals...DOHC 5.4> OHV 7.0
