  • I seriously preferred the Barter Theatre's version back in the summer of 2006. The voices were much better and the emotion behind it was more moving....

I saw both and Barter's takes the award!

  • Don't have the energy that Jon Denver have.

  • It wasn't a bad show - I really enjoyed, though partly because it was during the NYC transit strike a couple of years back, and I'd barely been outside for a few days. These clips don't quite do it justice. In some ways it was like an SNL skit, but it was enjoyable, and I am a JD fan from way back.

  • For some reason, these were probably the worst videos of the songs from this show. I saw it when it was in New York and it was truly amazing, but this looks like a dress rehearsal or something. For those of you who think it is crap, it was SO MUCH BETTER when I saw it oh so many times. Never fear. John Denver's music was saved...it just seems this video didn't capture the true essence of the show. It was fantastic. Something must have been wrong with the tape. Seriously.

  • It's different being there vs watching a video clip. I saw this in CO in 2002 before it went to Broadway. It was sold out for all performances. It might seem to be irreverent and seemingly aimed at mocking JD, but this particular production was anything but. I don't know if this clip is from that series, but there wasn't a dry eye in the house. What was nice about the one I went to, is that there were so many young people there, both in attendance and on stage.

  • To anyone watching,

THIS IS NOT JOHN DENVER MUSIC!!!

This is a disgustingly pathetic attempt to portray the musical life of John Denver. Do not get a negative impression of John through this appropriately off-Broadway show.

    Simply pathetic.

    Cheers,

    Chris

  • #1 the sentiment of creating a show based on the legacy of JD's work is touching....

#2 the treatment of his work is one of, if not the worst insulting trash i have ever laid my eyes and ears on.

Its obvious that these people do not feel the spirit of JD's music.

How sad- How glad i am that i never went to see this monstrosity..... JD would maybe have a laugh at them once he stopped spinning in his grave....

  • If I'd known being a bad singer was a requirement, I'd have signed up to be in this show. These performances are almost bad enough to make you forget what a wonderfully talented songwriter and singer John Denver was. Fortunately, we have HIS performances to remind us. It is sad that those charged with minding his legacy are putting out crap like this show.
