  • thanks for all the uploads, love the channel. but Nazz (no the just Nazz) are much betetr than these guys in my opinion.

    Rundgren is a genius!

  • I'm really happy for you @clashboy1977 and Imma let you finish, but Kanye West is the most impertinent kudo-usurper of ALL TIME.

; saludos

  • I think I may have warped memory. It might be Edison Electric's keyboardist I'm thinking of. Who played the factory with Bruce. Too many tabs, not enough brain cells.

  • Mandrake was one of my favorite late sixties bands. Once played Sunday Morning all night, into Sun. Morn. Remember seeing keyboardist play for Jack Bruce with Mitch Mitchell and I think Larry Coryell at El. Fact. Oh yea, can't get to heaven on the frankford El.

  • muy bueno amigo , sicodelia de categoría

  • They were way popular in the immediate area-Philly and the suburbs-all my friends had Mandrake albums and saw them at Eletric factory. Yes I think they were as good or better than some of the nationally known groups.

  • my favorite song offf medium.....why weren't these guys way popular: their music was pre-prog at it's best.

  • American Dream..that sounds so familiar. I think Vanilla Fudge was a 60s Phila band-they had a hit or 2 back in the day-mostly psychedelized cover tunes.

Sweet Satvin Chain-played a lot of local venues and at Be-Ins in Fairmount park

  • I saw Mandrake Memorial as warm up act for Vanilla Fudge. Walked away from concert, never listened to VF again. I still listen to MM.

  • The American Dream was another underrated band from Philadelphia. They made one excellent album, which was produced by Rundgren (at 20, his first production, I believe). Nick Jameson, later of Foghat, was a member. Do you remember them?

  • @maida1982a - Yes, American Dream was another great Philadelphia-area band. The cuts played most often from the album were I Ain't Searchin' and Frankford El. They released a single with I Ain't Searchin' on the A side and Goodnews on the B side. Both Mandrake Memorial and American Dream really deserved a lot more attention than they got.

  • @bellsys1 Didn't know about the Philly connection. Back in the mid- to late '80s, WMMR was playing a lot of American Dream ("I Ain't Searchin'", mostly) on its Psychedelic Supper program, and I followed that until it was dropped. I had the album.

Mandrake Memorial appears to be more adventurous than the Dream and Nazz ever got. They stayed strongly in the psych camp while the others either rejoined society or turned into pop stars.

  • @YusakuJon3 Craig anderton is from new jersey went to the same high school as nelson riddle but not at the same time wrote articles on electronic music

  • @spacepatrolman He later played with Linda Cohen...a Philly siger/songwroter/guitar player. I booked a '72 version of Mandrake into a coffeehouse in Vorhees,NJ.Just randy Monaco from the original

  • @richrollison1 the mandrake memorial did a free concert at FDU and gave everybody a free copy of their album too bad i missed the one in vorhees

  • Craig of course also played sitar....

  • trauma flasbacks for sure
