Its funny that some people believe that crap just because they heard that, at cern (the most of them dont even know what that is), there are scientists that will make a black hole out of... lhc aha!. And others make money from that. Nice... Read some some books to inform yourself! And, i don't think that if scientists would know that they would suicide with an experiment they would proceed. Dont you agree?
At CERN they've been continuously postponing the experiment for a reason or another until now. At the end of this month or at the beginning of the next collisions will start eventually. My only hope is that the end of the world has to come, it will be fast. A good instantaneous annihilation. Instead, it seems that growing micro black holes bother people with earthquakes and maybe heat, in a rather annoying way.
Indeed... this only serves to illustrate my point further. All the scare stories had people convinced we were all going to die today. The ignorance of which I speak extends to basic things like date and time.
The fact is that any black hole created in this way will have almost no matter in its vicinity, and so will not have the fuel to offset the loss of energy due to hawking radiation; it should collapse instantaneously.
The only reason to panic is cause y'all just realised you're idiots.
geeky scientists can go blow up watever the hell they want in their labs, but leave the rest of us outa it. i hope these guys are happy we they manage to kill us all. im 12 and ive spent all my life more or less in FUCKING SKL! IM NOT DIEING YET! LEAVE THIS ALONE! wat the hell is the point in doing this? is it like to see hey maybe we could create a lets kill the earth machine...cool switch it on. were fucked.
that, and the fact it won't destroy the universe, but what about the plante it started on? Earth? I don't care about other planets, what about us. O.o
I don't get why scientist feel they have the right to do something like this. It's almost like we don't get a say whether we live or die. Do we not have the right to defend our lives anymore?!
I say DESTROY THE MACHINE! Some things are just better left alone.
your all idiots tbh its a real problem and the black holes which are created can sustain themselves due to the matter around them being drawn in. they are made through colliding protons together at high speeds - which is the big bang replication however mini black holes have a 1 in 5.25 chance of being created during this experiment. if it does then they could sink down to the core of the earth and consume it or tear through the fabric of space and time itself. ive researched this machine fr yrs
although they claim that if mini black holes were created they would vanish almost immediatly and only take a fraction of a gram of mattter from earth, but then again theyre idiots that could destroy the earth so im with you :P
Many people tend to be scared by the term "black hole", because that is "something that sucks in everything around it" in almost every SciFi movie that touches this theme.
The black holes that will probably be created in the LHC can't really be compared to that, because they are way too small and therefore unable to "suck in" the matter around them before they destroy themselves (which will be pretty much instantly after they are created).

This isn't true at all, and anyone with some actual knowledge of the subject would know that. It takes an incredibly massive amount of matter to sustain a black hole, hence why only supermassive stars can create them. Artificial black holes can only be sustained artificially, via the artificial density obtained from ramming particles together at incredible speeds.
ya...the biggest particle accelarator in switzerland, CERN. Blackholes aren't really that rare anymore...even though we can't really see them or anything, they "theoretically" exist almost everywhere. Blackholes can be so diminutive that it's just an atomic reaction or what not. A blackhole wouldn't even kill us, except the the lack of heat and light.
this happend to me once in vegas.

CERN's own website predicted that the LHC would produce micro black holes at the rate of one per second.

I love the way ignorant people shit themselves when equally ignorant people make up scientific scare stories that are just untrue.
So, in your face, you ignorant idiots - it got turned on and NOTHING HAPPENED! Ahahahahahahah!
Also - what would it matter if it did destroy the planet or the whole universe?
First, no-one would actually notice, because we'd be dead in an instant.
Second, it'd prove God didn't ever actually exist, since the entire reality would be undone.
HA! ignorance!

Today it was turned on, yes. But it wasn't the experiment that people are afraid for, that one is sheduled in october..
