@bluey1610 there's a movie, it's called Pirates of the Caribean. This movie was meant to be a Monkey Island movie but for some reason someone didn't liked. Some years later they released it with a diferent name.

@Savci008 It could just be because the voices they gave the characters were never going to match how I'd imagined they'd sound in my head, but I do genuinely think it loses something. I suppose it's a bit like the difference between reading a book and having it read to you.

It also doesn't help that the games that came after Monkey Island 2 are of dubious quality at best.

Love this music so much I ended up burning a cd of it to take on holiday ... it unfailingly makes me smile in a way very few songs can do.

And ITA totally with vladpiranha - the art style on this was brilliant! Why they wanted to screw it up by making it rubbishy 3D I don't know.

Though, keep in mind that it was the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride at Disney World that inspired Ron Gilbert to make the game. In the new Monkey 2 Special Edition, he even admits that that's where he got the idea for a dog in a jail holding the keys, for example.

2 will always be the best, but I've enjoyed the rest of the series quite well. The vocal cast introduced in the third game is very well suited, and Dominic Armato gave the character of Guybrush just the right kick of extra life he needed. I wish the fourth game had been a cartoon instead of crappy turn-of-the-century CG, but the newest game looks great.

I used to fantasize about this game. The corners of my house became creepy treasure holds, the outside became the wild sea, and every foreign location became a new island. My dog was my first mate and I set up monkey stuffed animals all over the place. My outside back deck became a dusky night ship deck where the crew. My friend and I would be governor of our own island and compete for attraction. We would have military/education stats divided between us and pick alliances with other islands.

Ever since this game came out, I've been in love with the smuggler's cave music. Although at first I'd be humming the main theme. I wish Captain Rottingham's sword fight theme was on here, that one was better than the original and it featured accordion for a French twist! :D

This should be much higher on the list like in the 10 ten. This isn't the type music you remember because of the great game but because the music really is amazing. I still find my self humming this at times. Try doing that with boss battle music of some RPG I never heard of.
