For all the commenters, there are robots with cameras (some wireless, some with VERY long wired control lines) small enough to fit into sewer pipe(s) with tracks like a tank on them. Whether this was a sanitary or storm line, dunno. But still, a gator got in it somehow.
dude alligators and crocodiles are the scariest mother fuckers on the planet, i think id be more scared if i seen a croc/gator than a shark (by looks, not by the fact that most sharks dont eat humans...on purpose)
On the contrary to a popular belief, alligators can survive in Total darkness! In fact, they'll even get bigger in darkness! Don't believe me? Just ask alligator farmers!
its possible if a sewer is connected to an area where alligators can live or, if someone felt like putting a bunch of baby gators in the storm drain, i dunno.
The gator is in a storm sewer, nothing to do with sanitary ie, flushing down the toilet theory. At the beginning of the video you can cleary see the majority of its body outside the sewer at the outfall. The sewer probably discharges to a pond and the gator is most likely using the sewer as a refuge. In the wild gators and crocs are known to dig crevices in the side of banks during the dry season to escape the heat of the day.
I don't think Rigid is going to cover Gator bites under their warrenty program.
I can hear one of our drain tech's, Sir our shield formula will help prevent that pesty Gator build up. If you don't use it its just a matter of time and that pesty 180 lbs Gator buildup is going to cause a back up..........
probably an irresponsible owner flush their pet into a sewer, the poor aligator stuck in small space and scrapping rats or whatever it is to survive.....
And gators look like this and act like it..but on one retrospective~
This one has lived in a Sewer all his life(proably) it looks like an X-men gATOR. sort of morphed into a different kind a gator! Here in Fla we have in the house in the bath draIN roaches come out in hordes/ snakes;/ gators! Its srta the norm. I do not know where this vid came, but people flush animals down the toilet(hence gators in NY. I have seen a Trantula come out of the john!!! what next?
Real~! I have seebn this kind of stuff here in Fla with my own eyes! Here we have cockroach infestations in bath drains and the ones who come out of your drain are weired to say the least alligators, crocodiles, kittys, puppys(stuck), boas, and pythoon, opussums etc..real!
man that gator looks pissed, wouldn't you be pissed if you were woken up by a robot camera coming at you? and that pipe to me looks like a ditch pipe you know one of those pipes that ends in a river.
this was a pipe in the begining, it is a manhole coming up! Here in Fla we have alot of these(at first I thought the same as you!) But I have one in front of the house and Kittys have been stuck(in the drain part not manhole part )Here we have Boa constricters and Pythons getting stucjk in drains~roaches size of kittys etc...I belive it!
the thumbnail for the video looks like a CoD mod menu

And why does it move as if its whole body is ridged.

It doesn't move like a real animal; it's eyes are always open and looking in the exact same direction.
To me it looks like a blow-up doll, because its paws stick out in front of it when it move around. As if someone was just shaking it around.
