For all the commenters, there are robots with cameras (some wireless, some with VERY long wired control lines) small enough to fit into sewer pipe(s) with tracks like a tank on them. Whether this was a sanitary or storm line, dunno. But still, a gator got in it somehow.

The gator is in a storm sewer, nothing to do with sanitary ie, flushing down the toilet theory. At the beginning of the video you can cleary see the majority of its body outside the sewer at the outfall. The sewer probably discharges to a pond and the gator is most likely using the sewer as a refuge. In the wild gators and crocs are known to dig crevices in the side of banks during the dry season to escape the heat of the day.

This one has lived in a Sewer all his life(proably) it looks like an X-men gATOR. sort of morphed into a different kind a gator! Here in Fla we have in the house in the bath draIN roaches come out in hordes/ snakes;/ gators! Its srta the norm. I do not know where this vid came, but people flush animals down the toilet(hence gators in NY. I have seen a Trantula come out of the john!!! what next?

this was a pipe in the begining, it is a manhole coming up! Here in Fla we have alot of these(at first I thought the same as you!) But I have one in front of the house and Kittys have been stuck(in the drain part not manhole part )Here we have Boa constricters and Pythons getting stucjk in drains~roaches size of kittys etc...I belive it!
