  • Ginger Bakes looks younger than he did in 1968

  • I forget that it was just 3 guys who made this incredible sound. They are the best.

  • My goodness talk about changing! Still happy to see and hear them Thanks!

  • Awsome my best track of all time!! Ginger rocks !

  • BEST THREE PIECE BAND EVER! Hendrix's experience was # 2

  • Nothin' better than hearing this reunion concert for my ears.

And GINGER BAKER's solo!!!! Man, kids today couldn't buy that kind of talent.

  • Besides THE WHO (Moon, Entwistle) I cannot think of a better rhythm section. Jack and Ginger with Clapton wailing on guitar. In my humble opinion NOBODY can touch "Slowhand". 3 Member band, and they rocked out like there were at least 5 on stage. You will never see bands like the who or cream anymore.

  • @samshelly : Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell (Hendrix); Glen Cornick and Clive Bunker (Tull); Mo Foster and Simon Phillips (Beck). Not to argue...but they were definitely beasts...and contenders. Cheers

  • @auntycheeseandrice Nobody mentions McCartney, Lennon, and Starr as a "rhythm section," but glory be -- the early- and mid- Beatles had a great crunch and swing unheard since. Probably too familiar to be recognized. Did like Tull and Experience. Love The Who, but I think Entwhistle and Moon were two rhythm sections with Pete as a third.

  • @vcx9dfne What you say is true. I forgot Tommy Alderidge and Mars Cowling when they backed Pat Travers back in the mid 70's. Those concerts were OMG events. I play drums. Watching Tommy was an either /or event: either you committed to learn it...or you threw away your sticks because it was hopeless :). I still have mine. Do you play?

  • @auntycheeseandrice I have not played in years. My model was Moon. This drove a little band I joined crazy; they wanted me to just keep the beat. I intend to get a set and go back to it just for the soul. I used to put on the vinyl, put on the headphones, and play along with "Happy Jack" or something. Now, it's so much better. Nobody wants a 57-year-old re-emerging drummer who likes to play hard rock and oldies, but it doesn't matter. You play in bands still?

  • @vcx9dfne I play all the time: warm up with rudiments, and play a large setup in my front room several times a week. I haven't played with a band since about '85 though. I started playing at 8. I'm almost 51 now. My son plays. He's 16. I am having a blast showing him things. Not sure if someone wants me..I haven't been in the market for a band. But, I can tell you that playing feels GREAT! :D

  • @auntycheeseandrice That's probably what I mean: feels great. I never knew any rudiments :) Just picked up rhythm guitar again ($250 acoustic, inherited) and, while I'm not good, it feels good! Is there anything simple in electronic drums that feels like drums and won't annoy the neighbors?

  • @vcx9dfne I am ignorant regarding current electronic drum alternatives with respect to any brand or model. There are two main performance issues to consider though: physical feel (bounce) and trigger response. I assume that CPU's have improved over the years to allow a more accurate auditory response. My guess is you get what you pay for though. Maybe test drive some in a music store? Sorry I am not much help there.

  • @auntycheeseandrice Well, my concern would be feel. That's what it's about. On rare occasions I could grab a drum set, first thing I did was "I Can See for Miles" :) Gets everything going right away. Well, thanks. I'm lazy but should go see what's out there. Maybe I just need a house where I can put up a set and make some noise!

  • @vcx9dfne A wall of noise! YES!

  • DE IMPACTO

  • Eric needed to turn up a little and get back on the Gibson guitars that were his trademark sound in Cream.

  • nice job guys

  • Such an inspirational performance! Speechless. I kept on listening to the solo part and the bass behind it!

  • luke warm guitar playing.......from a legend..........bruce still sounds great

  • @marbleheadband I love Clapton...nice rich sound, but I do tend to agree with you on this point. He looks like he's in good shape in the video, and frankly I really thought he was going to bust out and bend strings, but he just didn't. It was nice, but did lack that raw, rough punch I was expecting.

  • @JDL2112 his voice is better than ever ..... i'm just disappointed he didnt wanna shred it up, i would have left the fenders home & brought something big guns; like 2 vintage marshall half stacks & a 61 SG re-issue or something......saw clapton in recent joe bonamassa blues concert (london) & bonamassa blew him off the stage, although he was hot back in the 90's as the touring guitarist for roger waters-pros & cons tour

  • @4:17 its Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter

  • ginger baker looks bad

  • Does the bass guitar got frets ?

  • @Fjorden96 Not Jack's bro. Warwick sells his signature model, (the one he's playing here,) for like $6000!!! Each one is personally inspected and signed by Jack Bruce. It's a Warwick Thumb. I have a Warwick Thumb 6-string and the tone that comes out of those basses are just thick and sick!!

  • oh my god, the bass!!!

  • Just doesn't touch 1968. To be honest, I would rather hear Clapton's version from 24 Nights.

  • Clapton did start on a gibson as seen in old films. If youve been playing anything for over 50 years your a professional without questions. Eric Clapton can play that guitar as well as he can sing. Ive personally never heard a 60+ yr old sing as well as him, let alone free solo. And those drums, insanely accurate, and the best sounding kit of the genre. These guys set the standard for live sound. Unsurpassed EQ quality. This is the stuff that can give you bumps and tears because of its greatness

  • Ginger Baker... or Clint Eastwood??

  • oohhhhhh, sweet, still some of the best ever!

  • had a cold shiver running down my back @ 03:58

  • Comment removed

  • you maked me as spam, bu anyone of you remember that clapton executes a part of the song with the wah and here not? it's less than itwas with first cream... sure he sings but who really care? he's on of the top guitarists in the world...

  • @bluesdues he flips to the neck pickup with the tone knob to basically 2 or 1

  • They sound pretty good for their age and how long it's been since they played together besides the few weeks before the concert. Clapton said he regretted doing the concert in his book...

  • Not correct, according to his book he really liked the gigs in Royal Albert Hall, but he didn´t like their concerts in MSG.

  • I wish clapton had played this song with a gibsons instead. I read somewhere that he started playing fender after jimi's sound became popular.Sounds great either way.

  • i think that he liked Buddy's tone more, because he was more influenced by him

  • like clapton said in his book..he wished he`d never done it

  • Hope you whingers can do now what you did better 30 years before!

Anyway, anyone know what the bass JB is playing is? I want one!

  • its a Warwick Bass

  • Warwick fretless

  • buddy u really, really dont av a clue do ya!!

  • Damn! These guys could still rock! I can't find any body who can rock like Cream did, now. No more excellent guitar riffs on the radio. All the youngsters with great constructive criticism on how to do this better will be over 50 someday and will hopefully look back and feel embarrassed at their youthful arrogance. I was once so wise as they. Now I am a grown up.

  • Eric Clapton was God and he will always be..

  • mangas de giles salgan del video putos

  • Congratz to you rabble, turn a beautiful timeless performance by 3 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Members into your own whine session. How good is your 60+ yr. old grandad at anything? These guys still got it, only an uneducated fool would even think to flame them.

  • The nervous system starts to fail at age 40. Eyesight before then. This is why you don't see many formula one drivers at that age. Playing hard rock under blazing lights at 60+ with a precision every bit as good as in their 30s - that should be all but impossible. At least for humans. Maybe there's more to this Eric Clapton being a God than I thought...

  • even eric has a slight cold for a while everybody knows it,fans publishers, etc.older he get more he is primadonna...my humble opinion or fans are just fanatic herd-mentalities.Gibson forever

  • Well, he is Eric Fucking Clapton.

  • I'll tell you what clapton is.... a guitarist! and a fine one at that. Poor Jack, whatever throat surgery he had has completely killed his voice here, although he can still play. And props to Eric for playing and singing when he felt like crap (heavy bout of 'flu)

And yes I agree the Fender sound is too thin for cream stuff.

  • jack had throat surgery?

  • I thought he did, turns out it was his liver. Had liver cancer and almost died when his body initially rejected the transplant.... my bad.

Too many ciggies or w/e but his voice isn't half of what it was.

  • thats wat i was saying..like i was wasn't it liver transplant...yea his age is getting to him..but still has talent..

  • They are playing very well, but Eric should use the SG, the Fender is too "weak" for this song...

  • Zeropoint, definitively you suck...

Music is much more than technique... is not about what you can see or heard Mr. Eric Clapton, but it´s about what you can feel through his music...

And music is not competition...is not important "who´s the best"...

Knopfler and Lee are undeniable masters, but they can be it together with eric clapton...

If your concerns are about "who's the best", I think it´s better for you to watch athletics, races or something... music is not competition

  • @luiscorinthians75 ; Incredibly well put !!!! I dearly love YOUTUBE however rarely do I ever glance down to the comments. We are so fortunate in so many, many ways. Hat's off to you!! Now celebrate that....

  • It's the cream reunion, damn good music considering how old they are now; and only getting better with age if you ask me.

Sure he might not be the greatest guitarist in the world, but who really gives a damn; its good music - and if you don't like it then don't listen.

    Simple as that.

  • as i stated before on this video blog; i like Clapton, just sick of everybody;including his colleagues who put him on a pedestal when he isn't that good. at least as far as being the best. Hey, i can play better than him and even if i were famous, i hardly think i'm the greatest. And if i were a professional musician, i'd strive to live up to my legend and not play by the numbers every damn night.

  • You have to view Clapton as someone other than just a 'guitar player'. You have to look at what he represents and his legend. He introduced American white listeners to music that was in their own back yard for 50 years. BB King states he owes his life to Clapton. Like Eddie Van Halen who came after.. there have been many pretenders to the throne, with better technique and a wider knowledge of music, but it's the guys who open the doors in my book that become legends.

  • I wholeheartedly agree with you. Everyone lauds him for the derek and the dominos work, but it was Duane Allman that did the greatest work on that album. I want to jab a stick in someone's eye every time I hear someone talk about Clapton doing the crying dove trick.

  • well thank you, brother. People just love to run with the pack and use the same worn out cliches which is probably why they still act like Clapton is/ was "God". They obviously have never heard Peter Green.

  • c´mon man.... theyre equal. plus the album really is more claptons work.

  • And the wah-wah?

  • sharrer2 ,

HOW CAN U SAY THAT! GO DIE

  • Wooooow! Assolo fantastico!"!!! :DD

  • He's washed up..

  • Claptons setup sounds horrible

  • To your uneducated ears maybe. We all use many different EQ settings (tone) that please our ears at the time of our performance. The musically ignorant punter's tonal perceptions are stuck in the time warp created by the first time they heard a song. The first kiss is the one by which all subsequent kisses will be judged.

I love that FILTHY distorted tone Eric is achieving but I doubt whether Eric give's a rat's arse what either of us thinks.

  • U spend alot of time saying nothing.Hes washed up..gone faggy

  • i personally like the sound. it has a nice warm tone but not too much distortion. of course his lace sensor pickups were better but the noiseless with the mid boost still sounds nice.

  • claptons setup sounds like overdriven fender yummyness

    it's the tone of cream

  • sounds shitty..no balls..too clean and shit tone compared to a modded gibson sg he used on the original recordings..Do it balls to teh wall or dont do it all all

  • can you do better?

    didnt thinks so.

  • pal i dont care..Eric Clapton could jump off a roof top tomm and i could care les.s..iam simply saying teh ppl came to see teh man do it teh way it was done..and with a shitty fender and a combo amp isnt teh way it was done..the guys a fag!!he didnt wanan be there and was for teh cash..say what u want

  • Eric doesn't need the cash, trust me on that one,all will go to keep his treatment facility going strong.

  • Yaik: Mind your own business. He does it how he wants to.

  • cool user name! let's people know where you stand before they attack you on your hatin'. Clapton really is a bit lame most of the time. If he wasn't (erroneously) referred to as the greatest guitarist, he'd probably seem a lot better than they make him out to be. But there's the rub right there.

  • Hi, Clapton was totally sick with flu this evening, that should excuse him ST

  • perhaps, but how do you explain the last 35 years? Sometimes he catches fire, but there's really nothing extraordinary about his playing after the 60's. Not hating on the man, i just wish he'd advance beyond the same old licks and phrases that he's been doing all these years. Jeff Beck has grown by leaps and bounds since he started 45 years ago. Why can't Clapton?

  • Hard to improve on perfection?

  • But he's not perfect. Clapton has visited many styles over the years, but has never bothered to take a page from the masters of that class. instead he hires the real deal like Albert Lee for instance or even Chris Stainton and Mark Knopfler, which is highly commendable. My main gripe isn't with Clapton so much as the fans who think it doesn't get any better than him.

  • Clapton adopted more on blues

    jeff beck continued on rock

Clapton is not a shredder, we all know that but what clapton has is emotional playing skills.. he plays with Soul (blues related)

  • you don't have to sell me on Clapton's merits. i've studied his work throughout the last 30 years. I'm just saying at the end of the day, he should be a bit more proficient for what his status in rock is and his guitar prowess. There are many other white players who have kept us white folk enthralled with the blues throughout the years, such as Billy Gibbons, SRV, Johnny Winter and the Stones, who are the first band to really introduce us to the blues while being major stars in the process.

  • anybody would have done same thing including you, man

    clapton is god

  • Peter Green was better. He just flaked off on acid when he was just about to hit big in the States. B.B. King even cites him up there with Clapton.

  • have you ever wander if eric watch his videos on you tube???no only eric..anyone of them..

  • christ ginger is like 80

  • haha yeah, but he is still a fucking beast

  • Jack bruce is a damn good bassist

  • @qwerly45 Also a great singer, or at least in his prime he was amazing. At least he's not like Geddy Lee, who can't sing well any more.

  • Brilliant solo :)

  • great band but i have to say i dont think clapton was in top form for these shows, i mean he plays great as always these shows just lack certain soul for me

  • What bollocks do you talk? Just lacks a certain soul for you! What soul is that exactly? Twat.

  • I am pretty sure he we a little sick or so I read.

  • he had just recived a liver tansplant so he was guite weak

  • GODS!!!

  • this english crowd lacks of emotion, they are all seating or waving their bodies...they need to BUST THEIR HEADS OFF ALL OVER THE SOOOOONNGG

  • this video proves that clapton is a true godr. 60 years old, playing with the flu still pounding out absolutely amazing solos.....

  • I remember the first time I heard this song and the place where I was, this band was and still the greatest group that ever went on stage, they are like a great bottle of wine, they got better with time.

  • One of the best versions of White Room, but this would have rocked even more had Eric played it with a Les Paul or a Firebird.

  • noo dude

    the SG! : )

  • YES, the painted one

  • the fool

  • both the les paul and SG suck.... clapton is and always will be a stratocaster player

  • "clapton is and always will be a stratocaster player" yeah because these days fender pays him a shit load to play em. but he didnt use them until he went solo and if you knew anything you'd know he's done a few stints before then. Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and Cream(of course) Blind Faith, Derek and the dominoes and few others and guess what for most of that time he used Les Pauls, ES 335s and SGs, and teles early on in the yardbirds. long story short you're ignorant. screw flanders

  • Blaze: Clapton uses Fenders because they are his preferred guitar. He has said how much he enjoys the flexibility of the tone, how easy they are to play, and because after Cream he had grown tired of the "big" sound the Gibsons get.

Money has nothing to do with it, Clapton is an artist who has remained true to his music in spite of what nay sayers always say about his solo career. He plays Fenders cause he WANTS to.

  • the good ol' gibson sound was so sweet:)

    watch?v=rq6r23-le5o&feature=related <3

  • he was playing strats before fender asked him to make a signature.

  • those were the days when clapton was still curious about playin in the band and humble.and i can hear it.typical feb-march born guy.

  • You'd think Clapton would bust out the Gibsons and the Marshalls for this.

  • three truly gifted musicians

  • GREAT!!! Then Clapton is the best!!

  • Clapton's voice is simply amazing. Jack also does a stand up job.

  • sure would kill to have a grandpa who can rock out like that;)

  • Amen to that brother

  • Wow this is an awesome reunion. I love Eric during the solo around 4:30, he gets so into it, its awesome. Great song too!

  • My fender NOS blues junior gives me almost this exact sound.

  • "I wait in this place,

    where the sun never shines.

    I wait in this place,

where the shadows run from themselves."

  • msg to pagliux, yeah eric clapton play guitar he big influence onthe electric guitar

  • they would be good if they harmonized singing together

    i like eric's music a lot

  • Are you implying that that first super band ever assembled doesn't sound good?

  • this is very good, but where's the wah wha peddle?

  • i was thinking the same thing. i personally think it sounds better without, but its definatly not the same without it.

    Matt

  • Yeah, I like this version, but the wah could have made it even better...if that's possible.

Clapton pulls off an amazing solo...I can't imagine how it would have sounded with the wah rocked back a bit.

  • good choice of guitar amplifier...those old fender tweeds

  • im a heavy metal guy but i really prefer bluesy solos. they have more....dimensions u could say.

  • You should diversify your musical tastes as much as possible.

  • Ginger B,,Big Baseguitar

  • all about the warwick fretless.

  • eric clapton dimostra ancora una volta di non essere solo un grande chitarrista,ma anche un gradissimo cantante rock!

  • the solo Clapton plays in this performance is one of the best solos I've heard in my life.

  • Agreed. I didn't care for the performance UNTIL the solo. Then I flipped out.

  • if you already haven't, go see layla live, absolutly amazing

  • WOW-------FANTASTIC. BSP

  • I have always loved to look at Eric's face while he plays.

  • Jack's voice is not shot. What are you talking about? This is Cream reunion - after 40 years since the Goodbye Concert. Its the event that we are enjoying. We don't want perfection - just Cream!

  • i think what eveyone means is we all wish we could just keep them young and on stage forever from that period..i know i do

  • dam i wish his voice didnt go

  • dont worrie man i know what you ment, Long live the cream!!

  • Too bad Jack Buces voice is shot, it really made this song. He still sounds fine, but the magic in his voice is gone, but hey, it isnt his fault. When you get old you get old, and he did more than enough for the world when he recorded it 40 years ago. Still love the bass work and clapton and baker are great. Bruce just unfortunately lost his voice.

  • His voice isn't shot. He just had had a liver transplant that almost killed him. That is why he was sitting most of the concert. Being in your 50's-early 60's isn't old to anyone but an airhead kid.

  • clapton was way better whan he was young..

  • bollocks his technique AND voice improved loads, only fault was ditchin the wa wa peddle

  • yea ur crazy...Clapton still got it

  • Clapton is God

  • Perfection!!!

  • cream is the most amazing band

  • I think that Jack Bruce is one of the most underrated bassists ever.

  • Nice bass work, shame about the voice

  • who said jack bruce sucks...assholes

    blues rock on bitches

  • miss those "aahh's" in the beginning!

  • I don't know if Bruce could hit those notes nowadays. I'm sure Clapton would have no problem, but they need a harmony for it to be most effective, so I guess they just decided to drop it.

  • I don't know if Bruce could hit those notes nowadays. I'm sure Clapton would have no problem, but they need a harmony for it to be most effective, so I guess they just decided to drop it.

  • the only band that can say the have all 3 members in the top 10 at their instrament. marvelous band stand up there wit the beatles

  • rush hehe :P... Neil Peart, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson!!! they are some of the highest rated in their fields too!!! but NOWHERE NEAR Cream's class!!!

  • I disagree, as much as I love cream, RUSH as a band are much better musicians (well except EC) Ginger and jack are great and all, but Geddy and Neil are just amazing

  • meh.

  • (youtube bug, this was supposed to be a reply to another comment, the video itself is amazing)

  • man my comments are place in thw rong place all the time, you youtube should do something against that.

  • Yeah, that was pretty annoying, I was saying "meh" to the guy who thought Geddy Lee and Neil Peart were better than Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce...

  • Neil Peart is a pretty gifted drummer.

  • And very skilled.

  • i have to say they have an amazing amount of technique, but i really don't care for rush.

oh, and one more thing. you should watch ginger;s toad solo from this concert. blows away every peart solo i've ever seen.

  • And Eric still on tripp..

  • no he is clean here but he is sick "as luck would have it i came down with a terrible flu virus, for the next three shows i was completely out of it"- eric clapton his autobiography page 297
