People are so lame on youtube.. xanax - no recreational use? Psh yeah right. I pop 3 bars and im gooood fucked up. Xanax never really got me HIGH like opiates do, xanax just kinda numbs and relaxes me, sorta like a tired zombie. IMO xanax is only good for stress/sleep, not a recreational drug. After starting a Facebook support group for those of us struggling with benzos & withdrawal, I've done a ton of research, recently finding most doctors often keep prescribing them in higher doses, as they fear their patients will simply go to another doctor for them. Doc's don't even screw with the elderly's doses, as the withdrawal is so traumatic, thinking they're better off taking them until they're dead. I'm just approaching normal (16 months clear) after 7 years high dose Klonopin & Ativan.

No one hear knows about benzodizepines then...Dr's keep uping the dosage of benzos' like Xanax, klonopin, Valium, and Ativan because tolerance to the drug sets in and more of the drug is required to acheieve the same effects in a very short time. Benzo's are only meant to be taken for a max of 4 weeks but Dr's prescribe them anyway. Plus the w/d from large dosages over long periods of time can take months and even years to recover from. I know because I was put on them mistakenly by a Dr.

Most of these people TRUST their Doctors at first, but once you are put in this medication it dulls your senses and emotions. Panic and anxiety go away naturally when our brains find ways to cope. Benzos don't allow that natural process to happen. hope you decide to get off of them

@MAKER6450 Anyways,,be careful getting off of them, there is taper advice and help online. Please don't think that a small does couldn't really mess you up. I have seen so many people on the benzo forums have problems on what they considered to be very small dosages. There are taper schedules for almost every different benzo online. Tapering usually takes months not weeks...very very slow. Good luck in your withdrawal from them...hopefully you will make out with no w/d symptoms at all.

These drugs are insidious and have a way of creeping up on you.
