Ebay is like an abusive spouse that want's you to believe it's your fault when they beat you.
Building a small list on ebay is useful if your backend product is high margin and over a G.The diseconomy of scale are at play.I eliminate the 3 top paid tiers of your sales funnel and give people what others are paying for in return for a higher conversion rate and and more money NOW.

Your ebay methods worked far better 5 years ago when the competitive heard was thinner.Classified ads are not ideal for competitive keywords for reasons that I'm sure you are aware of.
I don't believe the majority of your list building efforts or income is derived directly from ebay anymore, which explains why you are never upset about fee increases or abrupt rule changes..

What Ebay did not count on....is that the sellers were a large part of the buyers on Ebay!!! We made Power sellers out of Bubble wrap venders, envelope & box sellers, cute label sellers, tissue & plastic bag sellers and oh so many more....etc. Plus....because we spent all day on Ebay....we bought like crazy!!!!!

You're that person who......... buys an item, in which the item is buy it now with the shipping costs posted, and then you complain when you get the item. Ive had many buyers like yourself. If seller A has a t.v. for $1000 free shipping, and seller B has the identical t.v. for $.01 with $900 S&H..... which do you buy? overcharging on S&H is merely to offset ebay fees. Isn't making money what america is all about?
No, you need to understand that ebay is behind the higher shipping charges to start with, because they don't charge a percentage on that side of the equation. It is also within policy to charge "handling" charges. But yeah anyone still selling on ebay deserves a negative just for being scabby and ignorant.
You are absolutely correct that eBay is the place to be for easy cheap exposure, it is where the market is. But eBay is acting more like an employer with metrics to the seller than the affordable tool that the seller is paying for.
Many came to eBay to get away from being an employee, that had worked for years, but these latest moves put the all sellers under a new boss, not just bad ones.
Niche marketing will be my choice from now on before using eBay on things I can't market on my own.

You are right, we need and alternative to Ebay.
Lower you max bids though that way you rip off the sellers and make the sellers go broke or get them to start looking for alternatives.

This is not the first time a company made big policy changes, thinking it would help them make more money.
Remember "new coke?" Oh yes, it was going to push sales through the roof.
"New coke" came out and sales dropped through the floor. Huge disaster. Coca Cola dropped "new coke" and went back to "old coke" in a heartbeat.
We don't need boycotts and crap like that. All we have to do is sit back and see what happens.
