Hi mate... The other comments are correct. It's a WW1 issue British Brodie helmet. The rubber ring replaced a felt pad in 1917 to aid comfort. Pretty rare to find these with the original liner as most were reused in WW2 using a different liner. Nice helmet..I have one the same.
@kevinofishero I did find the red Brodie helmet. I guess the whole liner and stuff is original? I don't have the trained eye for it. Yet anyways... I'm going to add a video response of the pictures I took of the red stamp.
i think what you have is a usa, used hemat givein by england to the US when they entered the war in 1918 and you can tell its brit by the spit rivit vs just a rivit that usa made there own helmat u.s helmats have thicker chin strap then brit helmats to and are not a worth as much vs brit brodie
@theman1223 It's possible but I don't know. However, I did find some more information inside the liner, that says it's a Broadie helmet, stamped in red.
I have what is supposedly my great grandfathers American helmet from WWI, and it matches yours same rivets, strap, webbing, everything. Now, that being said is the helmet I have actually a British one? Who knows if he just picked this up off the ground or it was issued to him.
This is most likely, a so called "Brodie" helmet with the split rivets holding the chinstrap, look inside the sweatband and see if´s a label inside ! It has the original interior liner.
the shell is the late WW1 model for sure, not so sure about the interior, i have a portuguese brodie from ww1 (also served in the early twenties) and the leather liner is different. But still pretty sure the shell itself is a ww1 late model.
I have my great grandpas ww1 us helmet and in his and most of the other US ww1 helmets I have compared too all have a cotton type staps and webbing in it I think that is a English ww1 helmet
cool find
