My Sulfer Crested is smart, but he can't say that many words, but he demonstrates intelligence in so many other ways! Make sure that if you want a parrot you are ready to give it A LOT of love and interaction everyday :)
Everyone watch at 1:54. That cockatoo is wild, that's soo amazing. It just shows that parrots really are intelligent. More than people know they are. If you'd like see a great show it was on PBS Nature and it was called "Parrots Look Who's Talking" I have owned parrots for years, the smartest one I have is a Congo African Grey.
Wonderful clip, and thank you SO much for posting it! I've sent the link to everyone I know back in the states (under the title 'The Cockatoo Queen') as the best example of why I love living here in Oz (I wake up every morning feeling like I live in a pet shop!).
Aw, that's sweet XD Ahh.. everyone calls me the Cockatoo Queen now. But yeah, it's great living in a country with friendly animals, I love all the birds here.
"i will name you george, and i will love you forever" pahahahahahah thats hilarious you should try giving them toast instead of just plain bread, maybe even crackers. they love crunchy stuff like that. id give em apples or some kind of fruit =]
I would, but we moved, so I can't feed them anymore ;~; Mum only let me feed them bread anyways, and they were too impatient for toast XD I tried giving them apples once, they didn't eat them.
Siaarn, with SO MANY of those blokes around you home, is there any way you can capture one and send it to the USA? I would LOVE one, and would gladly pay to send him to Oklahoma. Please?
Haha, I can't do that, think of the stress the poor things would be put under. Besides, we moved recently, so I don't get to feed them anymore :< If you really want a cockatoo you can buy them from certain pet shops, but they are REALLY noisy and hard to take care of, and they aren't always friendly.
NOT TRUE! I have an Umbrella Cockatoo and she is not noisy and she is no trouble at all to take care of and she is a love bug and wants to be held and tickled and kissed on. She will go thru the hormone stage but we will handle that when it gets here.
I meant the wild ones, silly. These guys are noisy as anything, shoving them in a cage would make it worse. I know domesti cockatoos are tame and quiet, my friend has one.
Siaarn, I was going to say, you MUST live in (or near) Sydney to have that many cockatoo fellows around your house! You have so many wild ones, you don't need pets!
Aww poor thing, well this one seems to fit in with the other cockatoos, maybe he's not really a pet he could be part of a wild life program, you know like how sometimes they track birds to see how they're breeding and stuff.
I AM THE COCKATOO QUEEN!!!! LOL!

Are they not scared of you?
They dont seem to care that your there.
Do you feed them often?
xkiwigurl 5 years ago
Pretty often. Some of them are a bit scared of me feeding them.. One of them has a band around it's ankle so I think it might be tame.
Siaarn 5 years ago
Wow... When my cockatoo flew away the wild ones attacked it. We got him back tho. Poor person who lost it
