@DestroyerAlexandros That's too funy. The stats proved that Manny threw more punches. It didn't prove he won the fight. If you can't score boxing then Manny won that fight. The question is does throwing many punches equate to effective aggressiveness? The answer is a big fat NO. He was timed beautifully by Marquez, who easily won most of the rounds.
Sugar Ray Robinson has rightfully earned his place as the greatest pound for pound boxer of alltime. It wasn't built on hype or the media agenda. I mean lets be real, they weren't in the habbit of creating titles to honour a man of colour in that period where he reigned. He had to be extraordinary in all ways as a fighter. It was people within the boxing community that acknowledged his genius. Its unanimous amongst fighters. Boxers know boxing better than those who've never been in the ring.
@bolder2009 Yeah and the fact that he went close to 130 wins in his prime with only 1 loss that he avenged multiple times. It's true that he's extraordinary and the fact that people who actually play the sport unanimously consider him the greatest is enough. The casual fans can never appreciate the sport like the people who actually do it.
@DestroyerAlexandros Casual fans know Ali, Tyson, and some others from the golden age of the heavyweight division in the 60's and 70's, and the welterweight/middleweight division in 70's and 80's with the legendary foursome. Benitez is vastly underated. Pernell Whitaker is also underated. There are so many great fighters that you never hear about. SRR isn't really appreciated outside of boxing. Henrny Armstrong, Willie Pep are virtually unknown outside of boxing.
@DestroyerAlexandros But in his day SRR was a major figure outside of the ring. He was the first athlete to travel with an entourage, and he influenced the popular culture of his time.
@bolder2009 I absolutely agree man. I don't mind the multiple organizations, but what pisses me off is when the champions duck each other. Like JCC ducking Martinez. Like all the heavyweight holders ducking Vladimir. Like all the cruiserweights ducking each other. It's stupid and it's one of the reasons MMA is taking over. You have 2 big organizations there and they have a boss that sets up the fights people wanna see.
@DestroyerAlexandros Totally agree, even though I don't follow MMA. Boxing is losing fans to other sports, especially in America. That's one of the reason why the Manny v Mayweather fight needs to happen. I mean they are already both past their absolute prime. If the fight doesn't happen this year, the chances are the momentum will be lost. Personally its the only legacy fight available for them, besides moving up to fight Sergio Martinez.
@bolder2009 A fight with Sergio Martinez would be nice, but the Argentinian would destroy them. They're both old and past it, Manny f*cked himself up with all the moving up and down just like Roy Jones. Mayweather f*cked himself up with his inactivity and WWE stints. If they fight each other it won't be too great either. Pacman has a problem with counterpunchers, Mayweather has a problem with southpaws. It's gonna be a LACKLUSTER fight.
@DestroyerAlexandros No the fight with Martinez is the only other fight that would enhance their legacy. If you want to achieve greatness, these are the kind of challenges that you have to take on. The fact that it is a bigger risk is what makes it more compelling. I mean they've never fought any competition like a prime Hearns, Duran, Leonard or Hagler. They need to take on the best fight available, and Martinez is willing to fight them.
@DestroyerAlexandros Uncle Bob and Pacman are just today's Don King and Tyson with extra cheese. Bob owns Manny, and is probably cheating him out of millions of dollars. He is Uncle Bob's golden goose. You know how currupt the sport is. We all saw what they did to Holmes when he was about to equal Marciano's record of 49-0. We all saw how they robbed him. And how they robbed Marquez to keep the fight with Mayweather alive. They can't fool everyone.
@bolder2009 Can't disagree with that. But Mayweather is stalling equally. Fact is Manny went up in weight and fought Margarito, one of the most dangerous guys that everybody feared. He demolished Cotto whom Mayweather ducked. I can't say about Marquez. A point can be made that the Mexican won but there are very solid arguments that Pacman won. Pacman is similar to Tyson in a way but while Tyson fought comfortable opponents Manny is moving up and taking on challenges.
@DestroyerAlexandros Manny hasn't looked good in his last few fights. And Mosely wasn't throwing punches when he had the openings. I think we know why, but that'll come out eventually. Mayweather's last fight was easy money. Ortiz was never gonna last 12 rounds. His inexperience of competing against an elite fighter was obvious for all to see. Those headbutts were purely out of frustration because he couldn't hit Mayweather. Cheap shot or not, he was just target practice for Mayweather
@DestroyerAlexandros The time of talk has long been over. Its time to get this fight done and dusted. I'm telling you, this match up will be a cloud that overshadows their career if they don't get it on. 20 years down the line, they'll say, "who did they fight?" There are other fighters coming up who will replace them. If they want to be remembered, then this is the moment. Its overdue but on the other hand its right on time. May 5th is as good a day as any, to make it happen.
@bolder2009 Pacman just agreed to take less money. Anyway, you're spot on about Tyson. He also ducked Foreman. People talk of Tyson like he beat everybody, but the truth is that he lost to the best fighters of his generation - Lewis and Holyfield. And he ducked others. Back in the day Tyson's opponents were advertised as a big challenge but there was no internet so people couldn't look it up and find out he's facing cherry picked guys.
@DestroyerAlexandros haha he wernt in his prime against evander or lennix! he would have knocked them suckas out so quick, they'd have wished they were drug dealers! dont judge a fighter on a couple of losses!
@khanz2k Those are not just a couple of losses. Those are the BIGGEST fights in his career. Those are the BEST fighters of HIS GENERATION. There not ordinary losses like he was winning a fight and got caught or something.
@DestroyerAlexandros listen, he fought them when he was out of jail, depressed, rough, etc... he had so much problems and clearly wasnt focused. and how could you say the fight with lennix was a 'huge' fight! did you see tyson and how he looked? he was obviously in for the cash, look at his earlier interviews when he talks about lennix. just look at tysons career in the 80's then make a judgement.
@khanz2k I've seen matches from his whole career. He looks good in the 80s knocking out people who have negative records. At the time they were promoted as a big deal in order to make Tyson seem unstoppable. Tyson's good but he's nowhere near the invincible machine popular media makes him out to be.
@DestroyerAlexandros he fought massive beast players what are you onabout! he was the youngest champ now what can you say about that, he himself thought he would lose that fight. why didnt lennix call him out 10 years before they fought? he was a chicken! Tyson was the most ruthless fighter ever. his defence was impregnable ;)
his speed when he was young would devastate any boxer around! please listen to yourself and realise the error of your ways, watch his videos!
@khanz2k Dude I've watched dozens of Tyson matches. He's a great swarmer but had trouble with bigger guys (he was pretty small for a contemporary heavy) and his cardio was shit. He's the youngest HW champ it's true but the best heavies prime around 30 so the guys who were his age like Lennox, Riddick and Evander weren't in their prime yet. Sure he was fast, he was 210 lbs! You can't expect the 250 lbs giants to be as fast. Read bolder2009's comments below, the guy is knowledgeable.
@DestroyerAlexandros dozen aint good enough he had around 37 fights before he lost. all his fights were with taller bigger opponents and he schooled em all. his cardio was not the best but he compensated with his raw power and speed early. he had don king who ruined his life, he went jail, just like Ali and screwed his life with women and all sorts. Evander was a dirty player and got to tysons head. tyson just showed who was dirtier. and he dont know nothin mayt, research!
@khanz2k Dude I've seen all his best fights. He did school a lot of guys before 1990 but he was fighting cherry picked opponents. Once again, read bolder2009's comments under this video (from a few hours ago)
@DestroyerAlexandros he just came out of amateurs what do you expect? still, he fought hard and had about 80% or more knockouts in 3 years! once again, look at tyson documentary or summa, watch his defence video, speed video etc. if not then i cant say more, i respect your judgement.
watch this, look at the size of bruno! every fighter tyson fought them days would try and grap him and hold on for their dear lives! he forced a stoppage from the ref. Bruno was a tough fighter aswell. you cant say that was an easy fight. tyson head movement and counter punching was sublime!
@DestroyerAlexandros how much times do i have to tell ya, he was out of his prime when he fought them, especially against lennix, he was old and fat. ill bet you all my belongings that he would have ko'd them if they fought him in the 80's! guaranteed!
@khanz2k A highlight video? Come on man, that's purely subjective. Just like saying "Tyson was the fastest heavyweight". Of course he's fast, he's 215 lbs. That's what MIDGET heavyweights weigh nowadays. To me a guy like Pulev is faster because he's technically slower than Tyson but is nearly as fast even though he weights 50 lbs more than Tyson.
@DestroyerAlexandros to be honest all his fights were so fast, a highlight video is showing it all anyway, they were all 1st rounders.
he weren't a midget mayt, he was a beast of a man! no way you can compare Pulev (unheard of) to Tyson.
Just think of this: Only two fighters will be remembered in the history of boxing, and one is Muhammad Ali, and the other is Mike Tyson. i'd say case closed but, your just not accepting anythin are ya?
@khanz2k The reason these two will be remembered is because they were MONEY MAKING MACHINES, media sensations. I've been to gyms all over Europe and nowhere is Tyson considered the greatest heavyweight. In the pubs, among the casual fans, Tyson is a demi-god. Tyson appeals to people who wants thrills and sensations. He was very exciting, but boring slobs like Klitschko and Lewis will beat him at any point in time, any shape any day, even though they're not so popular among casuals fans.
@DestroyerAlexandros dont say Ali was money making machine, he was the greatest of all time.
Lennix and klitschko wouldnt stand a chance. if you look at tyson fights, all the opponent did was hold onto him but when the ref split them tyson unleashed the power!
nowhere in hell tyson would lose to these rubbish so called champs. boxing has gone now, the 90's was the last era of pure talent!
@khanz2k Don't believe the hype man. Boxing is as alive as it's ever been. Boxing gained popularity in Eastern Europe which is a HUGE talent pool. Look at sports like tennis, the Olympic disciplines. They were invaded by talented Eastern Europeans. The only reason Americans say boxing is dead is because there are no good American heavyweights. It's more alive than ever. But Tyson looked good against average competition. Tyson didn't fight Riddick Bowe and he ducked Foreman blatantly.
@DestroyerAlexandros heavyweight division has nothing in it, just boring old klitscko's.
i think that the most exciting weight is around welterweight with the likes of mayweather, paquiao, khan etc..
tyson won the champ of the world how was he 'average'? he had an outrageous private life believe me the things he did messed his performance up later in his career, look at the shape of tyson pre 90's and post 95.
@bertelliish Boxing is very popular outside the US now. Just because something is not popular in the US doesn't mean the rest of the world follows suit, open your mind.
@DestroyerAlexandros Actually there was a documentary in the late 80's where his managers at the time talked about getting the right fighters for him to look good. It might be up on youtube.
@bolder2009 Yeah they did milk the cow. But Tyson is a wonderful person, he's a very misunderstood human being and he didn't deserve most of the things that happened to him. Watch some of his latest interviews he sounds like a wise man. He found God.
@DestroyerAlexandros "Our chief responsibility, has been over the last year, to pick the opponents for Mike Tyson. Nothing. Nothing is more important, than the opponents you pick for a fighter." - Jim Jacobs, 1988
@DestroyerAlexandros When people talk of Ali's great fights, they don't mention that he beat an old Archie Moore, even though Archie Moore was a legendary fighter and great champion. Marciano is not given a great deal of credit for beating a past his prime Joe Louis. So Manny and Floyd won't be remembered for beating a past his prime De La Hoya. "Who did they fight?" That's what they'll say. "Who did they fight in their PRIME?". I don't know if that matters to them, but that's how it goes.
@DestroyerAlexandros Marciano retired undefeated, but you'll be hard pressed to find any boxers who ranks him ahead of Joe Louis or Ali. You don't get respect just because you are undefeated. Otherwise Joe Calzage would be more respected. Why would anyone think he will get any credit for beating a Roy Jones that was and is a shadow of his former self? It don't work like that. You have earn the legacy. Some people wanna call Ali overated but he earned his respect in the ring. He faced all comers
@DestroyerAlexandros Calzage got a very questionable decision over Hopkins. There are many who believe Hopkins won that fight. Who does Calzage have in his resume that's credible? Early in his career he dethroned Eubank who was a big name in UK but not well known in US, and later Kessler. Wins over a past his prime Hopkins and a Roy Jones that should have been retired a long time before they fought. That's hardly gonna stack up. He avoided fighting in America for years and padded his record.
@DestroyerAlexandros Tyson was knocking everyone out, including an old past his prime Larry Holmes that should never have come out of retirement. But its well known in boxing circles that he ducked Riddick Bowe and Lennox Lewis in the 90's. It was Lennox who was pursuing Tyson. He didn't even want to get in the ring with an old Foreman. When he was tested we all saw what happened. Regardless of whatever excuses his fans like to bring up, the fact is that he lost his defining fights.
@DestroyerAlexandros Of course it will generate a ton of money and shine the spotlight on boxing in a way we haven't seen since the first Tyson v Holyfield fight, but what happened to wanting to prove that you are the best? What happened to that warrior's pride that the great champions of the past had? I mean if they want to be compared to the legends (crazy talk) at least prove to us that you are the best of your own era first. The jury's still out. Can you imagine Hagler stalling like this?
@DestroyerAlexandros If Manny can't make his own decision because Uncle Bob owns him and is protective of his asset, then I don't wanna hear talk of 'pound for pound' or 'fighter of the decade'. It means nothing when you haven't tested yourself against the best, most skilled boxer of this generation.
@bolder2009 No, that's Mayweather's case. He's the one who hasn't tested himself. He didn't fight Cotto, he's scared of Pacquiao, he won't fight Margarito or Martinez. He wants to fight 21 year old Saul Alvarez next. Boxing went down the toilet because the promoters chose to reminisce of the "good old times" instead of promoting the current fighters. They could have made the Klitschko brothers IDOLS of this generation by promoting them as "the most consistent champions" (continues)
@DestroyerAlexandros The problem with the Klitscko brothers is that they don't excite the imagination. They have been dominant but they haven't had any fights that have caught the imagination. Boring to watch, but they do what they have to do. They get the job done in the ring.
@DestroyerAlexandros I don't believe he is scared of Manny. Mayweather is the best defensive fighter, best counter puncher, most skilled boxer, and if you look at the way their styles match up, there's nothing about Manny that would cause Mayweather any serious concern. If Mayweather has any fear, its the fear of losing his 0.
@DestroyerAlexandros Cotto has got too many flaws to seriously trouble Mayweather, but he'd have a puncher's chance like any boxer who steps in the ring.
@DestroyerAlexandros Manny fights Mayweather's left overs. When Mayweather fights De La Hoya or Mosely, the media says they're too old. When Manny fights them, they say look how great Manny is. Same with Hatton, who said only last week that he couldn't even hit Mayweather with confetti. That defence is too good. After Mayweather put him away, Manny fought him but no one was criticising him for fighting Hatton. So I don't need to hear that fight of the decade hype. He is P4P smoke and mirrors.
@bolder2009 or they could have promoted Vitali as "World champion in two sports" (he was world champ in kickboxing too). But no, they had to hate on everybody born after 1975, they had to keep ranting about how the heavyweight division is "dead". Compare that to MMA, where Alistair Overeem was champion of Dream, Strikeforce AND K-1 kickboxing. They immediately promoted him as "world champion in multiple sports" and made a billion on their next PPV.
Anybody saying Manny Pacquiao would beat SRR should stop watching the sport. Manny Pacquiao has been built up my the media and Bob Arum and has fought tailor made opponents that have little boxing ability in terms of defense, counterpunching, speed and so on. The only time in the past three years he fought a skilled boxer like Marquez he deserved a loss!
"That man was beautiful. Timing, speed, reflexes, rhythm, his body, everything was beautiful. And to me, still, I would say pound for pound...I'd say I'm the greatest heavyweight of all time, but pound for pound, I still say Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest of all time."
"Ray Robinson was the perfect fighter because he had no weakness. He had one of the greatest chins of all time. He was never really knocked out in a 25 year career. Another special thing about Robinson was how many times he was able to get off the floor to win. He always rose to the occasion."
Put Sugar Ray and Pacquiao in the same weight division and Manny would knock Sugar ray out with all due respect..And yesss, the knock outs look great but u gotta remember the gloves back then were much lighter and they had less protection than the modern day boxing gloves. Make Tyson wear one of those gloves and he'd probably put his opponent into a near death experience.
estaba pesado el vato pero nunca derroto a un mexicano que son una potencia en el boxeo mundial, y pera ser el mejor debe vences a los mejores incluso perdio con el unico mexicano con el que peleo
THIS MAN IS A COWARD... DENYING A TITLE FIGHT FOR CHARLEY BURLEY LOOK HIM UP BECAUSE IF IT WASN'T FOR THIS MAN AND OTHERS HE WOULD OF BEEN PUT DOWN AS ONE OF THE GREATS
I came here to say , god bless you sir the Greatest that ever did it . I was going for Pacquaio and was sad he lost but happy that you guys see what idiots you were .
Sugar Ray Robinson greaest p4p ! Would knock out Pac and Maweather
Too bad that they not only happened to be boxers but the best boxers of all time (Sugar Ray Robinson, Joe Louis, Muhammed Ali ....). They all would have handed you your allegedly superior white racist ass with ease. That coming from a white German boy.
Fuck racism! It's for idiots, who are too lazy, too dumb or both for taking a good look at their fellow men before judging them.
@MightyJabroni fuck u u probly like taking pics of adolf hiter holding a dildo with ur father. germans aint white either they are more black then white, also u dont know shit abt boxing name me the longest heavyweight champion
How old are you? 12? You either are embarrassingly bad at spelling or you type everything with a scoop. If you are so proud of your culture, how come that you don't even have the decency to master your own language? Your writing looks like burping at someone.
The longest heavyweight champion title reign? Joe Louis - a black man and acknowledged as one of the greatest of all time. In your face!
@MightyJabroni i am 18 which is much older then ur german ass. i have mastered the engluish language but i dumbed it down so u understand. i bet u dont know what the longest english word is. and wrong muhammed ali is the greatest heavyweight champion
Ali - the greatest champion? You asked me for the longest heavyweight Champion, who by fact can only be one - Joe Louis. There is little room for interpretation since time can be meassured, you know. And if you consider Ali to be the greatest - that's just fine since he is a black man, too.^^
"i have mastered the engluish language....." Congratulations - you just owned yourself. Are you for real? Or are you even bad at being racist?
@MightyJabroni ok if i wanted longest REIGNING heavyweight champion then ofc its joe louis. but i said LONGEST (physically). see even u try to be expert at english language and u still fail. ur comprehension sucks no wonder ur unemployed and watching scrubby dirty and old videos. and as i said it seems a watered down version of english is the only way u will understand. gtfo u german u should feel ashamed of what ur country had done to this world. also max schlemming is a retard
"Longest" (physically)? What are you referring to? Ali's dick? And if you mean physical size (height) then you are yet again a total moron. Both Klitschkos, obviously Walujew, G. Foreman .... all those guys are bigger than Ali - just to name a few. You fail again at making any sense.
You call me unemployed? Who is wasting his and every reader's time by typing random insulting shit? You think you have a ready tongue but just make a fool out of yourself for everyone to see.
Anyway - begone Troll! Arguing with you is like stealing a child's break time snack: frustratingly uninteresting, not challenging at all and an overall waste of time. Don't expect me to respond to any of your upcoming bullshit and racist crud.
Raise your hand in phony troll victory or whatever. I have enough of this crap.
@vidz06....maywether would get destroyed by robinson and ali mayweather cant handle power punchers hence the reason why he dodges all legit competition
@bravesoleviii so many fighters are more proven than manny and none of them would be favored against robinson. His weight class record is cool thats about it. Duran, Chavez, Galaxy, Ricardo Lopez, Hearns, Pryor, Salvadore Sanchez so many. All wud be favored against manny in their prime, none would be favored against Robinson he is much responsible from all things sweet within the science cause he was literaly the first and the best that ever did it. Not manny..
@runescapeglitches this who Ali emulated the way he through hooks his trunks and other things too Ali call himself the greatest as a title Ali himself payed homage to sugar ray Robinson and said it himself ray Robinson Floyd Mayweather Muhammad Ali the best to do it but if they were all in a Wright class Mayweather would whoop both of them he superior skilled
Dude, no. Pacquiao will never be before suagr ray robinson. And i adore the pac man even have the same chest tattoo, but hell no. Ray robinson would Knockout manny
@TheNigerianScammer First of all I highly doubt Robinson would beat Manny. Robinson is greater in terms of achievements, but with todays training and condition Robinson would be out of his league. Also don't forget that Robinson fought 2 times a month and he only fought Western world competition. His brains were scrambled eggs before he was 30. Pacman fights 2 times a year and he fights people from all over the world, he's as fit at 30-something as he was at 20.
@DestroyerAlexandros are you being serious? Robinson as fit as a 30yo when he was 20? Wow. He fought 15 rounders with no problem and killed a man in the ring. It's safe to say that he would beat Pacquiao, and I'm Pacquiao fan.
@DestroyerAlexandros You have to be kidding me. That's just dumb. If SRR fought today he would have all the advantages that fighters have today so that 'training and condition' argument doesn't wash.
@bolder2009 Yes, if SRR fought TODAY he would have access to the same stuff as Manny and Vladimir. If he was the best then he'd be the best now. But what pisses me off is the "experts" who are usually 80 year old people who think if Joe Louis was transported to present time with a time machine he'd beat Vitali. That's irrational and it's holding the sport back. The MMA guys don't have illusions that Don Frye will beat Alistair Overeem. The tennis guys don't have illusions (continues)
@DestroyerAlexandros The point you were making was that Manny would beat SRR because of evolution. Well lets put Manny back in SRR's era and give him the smaller gloves, and let him fight under the conditions of that era. It could be argued that if SRR was fighting now he would be even greater than he already was with all the modern advantages. 12 rounds instead of 15. Bigger gloves. The benefits of advancements in sporting science to improve efficiency, etc.
@bolder2009 Of course, my philosophy is that if you put a GREAT athlete in any era he will be great. The Klitschkos too, no matter how much Americans hate them. SRR was the best in his time. You put him in the 90s with modern training and equipment he'll still be the best. But to think that you can transport him from the past and he'll beat Pacquiao with his OLD training regimen and his OLD nutrition is ridiculous. It's a whole different game today.
@DestroyerAlexandros As for old 'experts' and there opinions, well who is more credible, someone like that clown Skip Bayless who knows nothing about boxing but thinks Manny is the beginning, middle and end of boxing? Or someone like Jerry Eisenberg who's been watching boxing for most of his 81 years and has seen more great fights and fighters than any of those ESPN clowns put together?
@bolder2009 Well of course there are clowns that think Money Mayweather and Pacman are the greatest ever but there are a lot of clowns too who think just because someone fought 50 years ago he is better. There are clowns that respond to Marciano KO 1 to any "Marciano vs ?" thread, even though Marciano was 190 lbs and weighs as much as most middleweights nowadays. The balance is important. Larry Merchant is pretty balanced in his analysis.
@DestroyerAlexandros People who know boxing don't jump on the band wagon. The media always has an agenda as far as whose the heroe and the villan. They do it for ratings. Boxing fans I know are not into that hype. Gotta respect the history before names are thrown into the company of legendary fighters. I've got nothing against Mayweather and Manny, but they ain't even fought eachother yet, and they've already passed their prime. Its ridiculous! Ali fought all the top competition of his era.
@DestroyerAlexandros Joe Louis the longest reigning and arguably greatest heavyweight champion (although I personally believe that the prime Ali from the period after the first Liston fight to his last fight before the enforced 3 and a half year layoff was the greatest heavyweight of alltime) used to beat all types and sizes of fighters. He knocked out the 260Ibs Abe Simon. Yeah Abe was flat footed but the heavyweights today are just big + steriods. This is a weak era in the HW division.
@bolder2009 that pancho gonzalez will beat Roger Federer. The reason boxing fans believe that shit is because a big portion of us is 70-year-old people.
@DestroyerAlexandros The winnining time in the recent 400 meters hurdles world championship final in 2011 was slower than the time that Ed Moses ran in 1976 to win Olympic final. So if we go by your evolution argument the present 400 metre hurdlers should be far better, but Ed Moses is still acknowledged as the greatest 400 meters hurdler. Ed has the most consistent fast times (25 of the hundred fastest times), is the greatest technician. Todays 400m hurdlers acknowledge him as the greatest.
@DestroyerAlexandros Sugar Ray Robinson has one of the greatest resume in boxing, in the welterweight and middleweight division. You can only judge a fighter by how they performed in their era against the best of their era. Every fighter that steps in the ring deserves respect but Manny and all his catch weight victories do not convince me that he is as great as the media has hyped him to be. I mean his defining fights were against Marquez and we all know what happened there. The truth hurts.
@bolder2009 You're right. What matters is how you do in your own era. It's like comparing Da Vinci and Aristotle. All that matters is that each of them was the brightest person in HIS generation. That's why arguments like "weak generation" don't work. No generation is weak, especially in the best paid sport in the world. There will always be millions of up-and-comers hungery for success. Pacquiao beat Marquez in the 3rd fight though according to the stats.
@DestroyerAlexandros But in reality anything can happen, so they should just get the fight over and done with. Its an embarassment for boxing. The fighter that I respect the most right now is Andre Ward. This is someone to watch. Maybe not as exciting but he is building up a great legacy by taking on the best of his divison and cleaning it out, outclassing them with superior boxing skills. If he keeps on going the way he is, he'll definitely be a future hall of famer.
@DestroyerAlexandros Da Vinci is exhibit A that proves the present is not always superior to things that have gone before. I mean we still ain't fully caught up to him yet.Your talking about the greatest creative and inventive mind we've ever known. Some of his ideas, and inventions from the 15th century were not even realised till the 20th century. He anticipated so much, his only misfortune was that world took centuries in somes cases, to catch up with his visionary endeavours.
@bolder2009 Exactly, but fighting isn't rocket science. Sports are something every man has done for as long as humanity has existed. There are very scientific reasons why the athletes of today will beat the athletes of yesterday. First of all because of steroids, second of all because people are getting bigger. I read a very interesting article about how there are periods when people get bigger, then they shrink, then they get bigger again, etc. Prior to the ice age people (continues
@DestroyerAlexandros Today there are so many belts its a joke. Before everyone knew who the champion of a divison was. Its just crazy now. Khan says he doesn't care about the IBF belt, he just wants to win back the WBA belt. As a boxing fan I don't have much respect for the phoney belt holders. If their were as many weight divisions in previous eras of boxing do you know how many titles the champions of that era could have won. Boxing isn't as respected as it once was. Its been dumbed down.
@bolder2009 just as big as today. That's because they ate a lot of meat and fruits, which are rich in sugar and protein. They also had to hunt animals which meant that the smaller ones couldn't compete. After that people went to an agricultural diet, which is low quality food, so they shrunk. And now over the last 200 years people are once again moving away from an agricultural diet and they're getting bigger. There was a similar period in the Middle Ages too.
@DestroyerAlexandros I just think the argument is always lopsided. Instead of putting yesterday's fighters in the context of the present which a lot of people do, why not put todays fighters in the context of the past, and strip away their steriods, peds, etc. The only thing that is reasonable to compare with fighters is styles. The greatness of a fighter can only be fairly apportioned for what a fighter does in their era. Greatness transcends time. Genius transcends time.
@DestroyerAlexandros "He only fought Western World competition." You obviously don't know much about boxing. SRR fought the best fighters of his era. He fought and beat more hall of famers than any fighter in history. Manny still hasn't even fought Mayweather, the best boxer of this era. Leonard, Hearns, Benitez, Duran, Hagler....those great fighters fought each other. You simply can't mention Manny in the same sentence as Sugar Ray Robinson. Its ridiculous.
At like 1:01 and 1:04 that is that same guy getting his head rocked with a left and then a right, the second punch knocks the guys head into the ropes so fast, it doesn't even look like a real person. This video is awesome, I didn't know Sugar Ray was such a badass.
Pretty Boy may be a better fighter defensively, but he can only dream of throwing punches like Ray. He's the only man who deserves to be called "Sugar".
Wtf how come ive never heard of hum? He is freaking awesome. Hes knocking ppl out silly. lol, im an inspiring boxer myself and wow all u hear about is ali, friazer or even tyson. Whyyyy? When this guy was better!?

Boxers know boxing better than those who've never been in the ring.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@bolder2009 Yeah and the fact that he went close to 130 wins in his prime with only 1 loss that he avenged multiple times. It's true that he's extraordinary and the fact that people who actually play the sport unanimously consider him the greatest is enough. The casual fans can never appreciate the sport like the people who actually do it.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros Casual fans know Ali, Tyson, and some others from the golden age of the heavyweight division in the 60's and 70's, and the welterweight/middleweight division in 70's and 80's with the legendary foursome. Benitez is vastly underated. Pernell Whitaker is also underated. There are so many great fighters that you never hear about. SRR isn't really appreciated outside of boxing. Henrny Armstrong, Willie Pep are virtually unknown outside of boxing.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros But in his day SRR was a major figure outside of the ring. He was the first athlete to travel with an entourage, and he influenced the popular culture of his time.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@bolder2009 I absolutely agree man. I don't mind the multiple organizations, but what pisses me off is when the champions duck each other. Like JCC ducking Martinez. Like all the heavyweight holders ducking Vladimir. Like all the cruiserweights ducking each other. It's stupid and it's one of the reasons MMA is taking over. You have 2 big organizations there and they have a boss that sets up the fights people wanna see.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros Totally agree, even though I don't follow MMA. Boxing is losing fans to other sports, especially in America. That's one of the reason why the Manny v Mayweather fight needs to happen. I mean they are already both past their absolute prime. If the fight doesn't happen this year, the chances are the momentum will be lost. Personally its the only legacy fight available for them, besides moving up to fight Sergio Martinez.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@bolder2009 A fight with Sergio Martinez would be nice, but the Argentinian would destroy them. They're both old and past it, Manny f*cked himself up with all the moving up and down just like Roy Jones. Mayweather f*cked himself up with his inactivity and WWE stints. If they fight each other it won't be too great either. Pacman has a problem with counterpunchers, Mayweather has a problem with southpaws. It's gonna be a LACKLUSTER fight.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros No the fight with Martinez is the only other fight that would enhance their legacy. If you want to achieve greatness, these are the kind of challenges that you have to take on. The fact that it is a bigger risk is what makes it more compelling. I mean they've never fought any competition like a prime Hearns, Duran, Leonard or Hagler. They need to take on the best fight available, and Martinez is willing to fight them.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros Uncle Bob and Pacman are just today's Don King and Tyson with extra cheese. Bob owns Manny, and is probably cheating him out of millions of dollars. He is Uncle Bob's golden goose. You know how currupt the sport is. We all saw what they did to Holmes when he was about to equal Marciano's record of 49-0. We all saw how they robbed him. And how they robbed Marquez to keep the fight with Mayweather alive. They can't fool everyone.
bolder2009 1 week ago

Cheap shot or not, he was just target practice for Mayweather
bolder2009 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros The time of talk has long been over. Its time to get this fight done and dusted. I'm telling you, this match up will be a cloud that overshadows their career if they don't get it on. 20 years down the line, they'll say, "who did they fight?" There are other fighters coming up who will replace them. If they want to be remembered, then this is the moment. Its overdue but on the other hand its right on time. May 5th is as good a day as any, to make it happen.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@bolder2009 Pacman just agreed to take less money. Anyway, you're spot on about Tyson. He also ducked Foreman. People talk of Tyson like he beat everybody, but the truth is that he lost to the best fighters of his generation - Lewis and Holyfield. And he ducked others. Back in the day Tyson's opponents were advertised as a big challenge but there was no internet so people couldn't look it up and find out he's facing cherry picked guys.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros haha he wernt in his prime against evander or lennix! he would have knocked them suckas out so quick, they'd have wished they were drug dealers! dont judge a fighter on a couple of losses!
khanz2k 1 week ago
@khanz2k Those are not just a couple of losses. Those are the BIGGEST fights in his career. Those are the BEST fighters of HIS GENERATION. There not ordinary losses like he was winning a fight and got caught or something.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros listen, he fought them when he was out of jail, depressed, rough, etc... he had so much problems and clearly wasnt focused. and how could you say the fight with lennix was a 'huge' fight! did you see tyson and how he looked? he was obviously in for the cash, look at his earlier interviews when he talks about lennix. just look at tysons career in the 80's then make a judgement.
khanz2k 1 week ago
@khanz2k I've seen matches from his whole career. He looks good in the 80s knocking out people who have negative records. At the time they were promoted as a big deal in order to make Tyson seem unstoppable. Tyson's good but he's nowhere near the invincible machine popular media makes him out to be.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros he fought massive beast players what are you onabout! he was the youngest champ now what can you say about that, he himself thought he would lose that fight. why didnt lennix call him out 10 years before they fought? he was a chicken! Tyson was the most ruthless fighter ever. his defence was impregnable ;)
his speed when he was young would devastate any boxer around! please listen to yourself and realise the error of your ways, watch his videos!
khanz2k 1 week ago
@khanz2k Dude I've watched dozens of Tyson matches. He's a great swarmer but had trouble with bigger guys (he was pretty small for a contemporary heavy) and his cardio was shit. He's the youngest HW champ it's true but the best heavies prime around 30 so the guys who were his age like Lennox, Riddick and Evander weren't in their prime yet. Sure he was fast, he was 210 lbs! You can't expect the 250 lbs giants to be as fast. Read bolder2009's comments below, the guy is knowledgeable.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros dozen aint good enough he had around 37 fights before he lost. all his fights were with taller bigger opponents and he schooled em all. his cardio was not the best but he compensated with his raw power and speed early. he had don king who ruined his life, he went jail, just like Ali and screwed his life with women and all sorts. Evander was a dirty player and got to tysons head. tyson just showed who was dirtier. and he dont know nothin mayt, research!
khanz2k 1 week ago
@khanz2k Dude I've seen all his best fights. He did school a lot of guys before 1990 but he was fighting cherry picked opponents. Once again, read bolder2009's comments under this video (from a few hours ago)

@DestroyerAlexandros he just came out of amateurs what do you expect? still, he fought hard and had about 80% or more knockouts in 3 years! once again, look at tyson documentary or summa, watch his defence video, speed video etc. if not then i cant say more, i respect your judgement.

khanz2k 1 week ago
@khanz2k A highlight video? Come on man, that's purely subjective. Just like saying "Tyson was the fastest heavyweight". Of course he's fast, he's 215 lbs. That's what MIDGET heavyweights weigh nowadays. To me a guy like Pulev is faster because he's technically slower than Tyson but is nearly as fast even though he weights 50 lbs more than Tyson.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros to be honest all his fights were so fast, a highlight video is showing it all anyway, they were all 1st rounders.
he weren't a midget mayt, he was a beast of a man! no way you can compare Pulev (unheard of) to Tyson.
Just think of this: Only two fighters will be remembered in the history of boxing, and one is Muhammad Ali, and the other is Mike Tyson. i'd say case closed but, your just not accepting anythin are ya?
P.S nice little conversation anyway :)
khanz2k 1 week ago
@khanz2k The reason these two will be remembered is because they were MONEY MAKING MACHINES, media sensations. I've been to gyms all over Europe and nowhere is Tyson considered the greatest heavyweight. In the pubs, among the casual fans, Tyson is a demi-god. Tyson appeals to people who wants thrills and sensations. He was very exciting, but boring slobs like Klitschko and Lewis will beat him at any point in time, any shape any day, even though they're not so popular among casuals fans.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros dont say Ali was money making machine, he was the greatest of all time.
Lennix and klitschko wouldnt stand a chance. if you look at tyson fights, all the opponent did was hold onto him but when the ref split them tyson unleashed the power!
nowhere in hell tyson would lose to these rubbish so called champs. boxing has gone now, the 90's was the last era of pure talent!
khanz2k 1 week ago
@khanz2k Don't believe the hype man. Boxing is as alive as it's ever been. Boxing gained popularity in Eastern Europe which is a HUGE talent pool. Look at sports like tennis, the Olympic disciplines. They were invaded by talented Eastern Europeans. The only reason Americans say boxing is dead is because there are no good American heavyweights. It's more alive than ever. But Tyson looked good against average competition. Tyson didn't fight Riddick Bowe and he ducked Foreman blatantly.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros heavyweight division has nothing in it, just boring old klitscko's.
i think that the most exciting weight is around welterweight with the likes of mayweather, paquiao, khan etc..
tyson won the champ of the world how was he 'average'? he had an outrageous private life believe me the things he did messed his performance up later in his career, look at the shape of tyson pre 90's and post 95.

Can you imagine Hagler stalling like this?
bolder2009 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros If Manny can't make his own decision because Uncle Bob owns him and is protective of his asset, then I don't wanna hear talk of 'pound for pound' or 'fighter of the decade'. It means nothing when you haven't tested yourself against the best, most skilled boxer of this generation.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@bolder2009 No, that's Mayweather's case. He's the one who hasn't tested himself. He didn't fight Cotto, he's scared of Pacquiao, he won't fight Margarito or Martinez. He wants to fight 21 year old Saul Alvarez next. Boxing went down the toilet because the promoters chose to reminisce of the "good old times" instead of promoting the current fighters. They could have made the Klitschko brothers IDOLS of this generation by promoting them as "the most consistent champions" (continues)
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros The problem with the Klitscko brothers is that they don't excite the imagination. They have been dominant but they haven't had any fights that have caught the imagination. Boring to watch, but they do what they have to do. They get the job done in the ring.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros I don't believe he is scared of Manny. Mayweather is the best defensive fighter, best counter puncher, most skilled boxer, and if you look at the way their styles match up, there's nothing about Manny that would cause Mayweather any serious concern. If Mayweather has any fear, its the fear of losing his 0.
bolder2009 1 week ago

He is P4P smoke and mirrors.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@bolder2009 or they could have promoted Vitali as "World champion in two sports" (he was world champ in kickboxing too). But no, they had to hate on everybody born after 1975, they had to keep ranting about how the heavyweight division is "dead". Compare that to MMA, where Alistair Overeem was champion of Dream, Strikeforce AND K-1 kickboxing. They immediately promoted him as "world champion in multiple sports" and made a billion on their next PPV.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
Anybody saying Manny Pacquiao would beat SRR should stop watching the sport. Manny Pacquiao has been built up my the media and Bob Arum and has fought tailor made opponents that have little boxing ability in terms of defense, counterpunching, speed and so on. The only time in the past three years he fought a skilled boxer like Marquez he deserved a loss!

@DestroyerAlexandros You have to be kidding me. That's just dumb. If SRR fought today he would have all the advantages that fighters have today so that 'training and condition' argument doesn't wash.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@bolder2009 Yes, if SRR fought TODAY he would have access to the same stuff as Manny and Vladimir. If he was the best then he'd be the best now. But what pisses me off is the "experts" who are usually 80 year old people who think if Joe Louis was transported to present time with a time machine he'd beat Vitali. That's irrational and it's holding the sport back. The MMA guys don't have illusions that Don Frye will beat Alistair Overeem. The tennis guys don't have illusions (continues)
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros The point you were making was that Manny would beat SRR because of evolution. Well lets put Manny back in SRR's era and give him the smaller gloves, and let him fight under the conditions of that era. It could be argued that if SRR was fighting now he would be even greater than he already was with all the modern advantages. 12 rounds instead of 15. Bigger gloves. The benefits of advancements in sporting science to improve efficiency, etc.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@bolder2009 Of course, my philosophy is that if you put a GREAT athlete in any era he will be great. The Klitschkos too, no matter how much Americans hate them. SRR was the best in his time. You put him in the 90s with modern training and equipment he'll still be the best. But to think that you can transport him from the past and he'll beat Pacquiao with his OLD training regimen and his OLD nutrition is ridiculous. It's a whole different game today.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros As for old 'experts' and there opinions, well who is more credible, someone like that clown Skip Bayless who knows nothing about boxing but thinks Manny is the beginning, middle and end of boxing? Or someone like Jerry Eisenberg who's been watching boxing for most of his 81 years and has seen more great fights and fighters than any of those ESPN clowns put together?
bolder2009 1 week ago

This is a weak era in the HW division.
bolder2009 1 week ago

Todays 400m hurdlers acknowledge him as the greatest.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros Sugar Ray Robinson has one of the greatest resume in boxing, in the welterweight and middleweight division. You can only judge a fighter by how they performed in their era against the best of their era. Every fighter that steps in the ring deserves respect but Manny and all his catch weight victories do not convince me that he is as great as the media has hyped him to be. I mean his defining fights were against Marquez and we all know what happened there. The truth hurts.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@bolder2009 You're right. What matters is how you do in your own era. It's like comparing Da Vinci and Aristotle. All that matters is that each of them was the brightest person in HIS generation. That's why arguments like "weak generation" don't work. No generation is weak, especially in the best paid sport in the world. There will always be millions of up-and-comers hungery for success. Pacquiao beat Marquez in the 3rd fight though according to the stats.
DestroyerAlexandros 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros But in reality anything can happen, so they should just get the fight over and done with. Its an embarassment for boxing. The fighter that I respect the most right now is Andre Ward. This is someone to watch. Maybe not as exciting but he is building up a great legacy by taking on the best of his divison and cleaning it out, outclassing them with superior boxing skills. If he keeps on going the way he is, he'll definitely be a future hall of famer.
bolder2009 1 week ago
@DestroyerAlexandros Da Vinci is exhibit A that proves the present is not always superior to things that have gone before. I mean we still ain't fully caught up to him yet.Your talking about the greatest creative and inventive mind we've ever known. Some of his ideas, and inventions from the 15th century were not even realised till the 20th century. He anticipated so much, his only misfortune was that world took centuries in somes cases, to catch up with his visionary endeavours.
bolder2009 1 week ago

Its been dumbed down.
bolder2009 1 week ago
