There are confirmed reports that cheetah do prey on foals and ADULT zebras,as long as cheetahs work together to hunting zebras and even elands! single cheetah had no chance with adult zebra, but foal is fair game.
I dont think its ever been recorded that a cheetah has ever killed an adult Zebra, infact its far far far more likely that the zebra would kill the Cheetah! Cheetahs are built for speed, it would catch (up) with a zebra but would NEVER be able to take it down in a million years! That cheetah must have been very hungry and desperate, they dont normally try it on with anything bigger than a Thompson's Gazelle
Yes they do chase them, i never denied that! But only when cheetahs are desperate or when the zebras have foals! And you can doubt all you like but zebras have been known to kill lions with their kicks, a cheetah wouldnt stand a chance with even a half grown zebra, let alone adults. Cheetahs have very little power or body mass (have you seen how skinny they are) and zebras are over 3 times as big as cheetahs. A cheetah simply wouldnt have the power to drag it down or stop it from running.
@Giraffe1983 Male cheetahs that form coalitions have been known to take down full grown Zebra,Wilderbeast,Topi,Hartbeast, ETC large Prey !!!! It is very dangerous for any predator to attack these animals bec of there horns, kicks. But to say a cheetah has no chance, you are Wrong ! Google it you can find pictures, There footage on google/youtube of them taking down large game......I am not trying to make you a beleiver, I am just l stating facts, and whats the truth.
@Giraffe1983 Cheetahs can way between 99lbs to 145 lbs over 3 feet high at the shoulder, you are underestimating the cheetahs capabilities. Yes it's true they are not as powerful as leopard, cougar, jaguar,lion,tiger. But these specialized hunters go after all types of small, med,large prey depending on there habbitat. Like the kalajari cheetah, iranian cheetah, african cheetah sub species. Watch documentary called Hyena princess, here on you tube you have 2 male cheetahs attacking Eland. FACT!

I've even seen a wildebeest severely injury a cheetah. Luckily for the cheetah, the people filming it were able to nurse it back to health.

I saw cheetahs chasing zebras on the discovery channel. I doubt a Zebra could kill a Cheetah either....
