that's the way i learned it. my only issue is that the yokomen means side of the head so wouldn't this less traditional method be more accurate? or perhaps they should change the name of the strike to kesa-uchi (diagonal strike)... w/e...
@shihonage i understood your description fine. however, my suggestion that I made when I was still very inexperienced was that due to the diagonal direction of the strike, wouldn't kesa-uchi (diagonal strike) be more appropriate a name than yokomenuchi. I also mentioned that my yokomenuchi's are done in this same way you described.
@Sparrowhawk1138 Agreed, but in this vid there is no real attacking intention. It is not a strike he is handing himself to her to get thrown. No real aiki.
your both right, a shomen uchi can always be better and more real, however if its better the nage has to be very good at not harming uke , because most people missunderstand that if the atack is harder the tecnhique should suddenly become harmfull fast and hard- wich in this video shows a little of that-
Yokomen uchi is supposed to come from center down, like shomen uchi, aided by horizontal rotation of the body to become a diagonal cut.

1. Its supposed to simulate a sword attack
