LaMotta also had more ringcraft than people think. He had skills, knew how to bait guys to come to him by playing possum. They he would come out of a crouch with 8 to 10 lefthooks no exageration.

Ray Robinson said Jake was the only guy he ever got arm weary punching at. Then Jakes eyes light up and he whips a hook to Ray body that brought tears to Robinson`s eyes.

I have just finished reading the book. The book is just as powerfull as the movie. Lamotta is still alive and in his right mind. That shows how strong a human been that man is taking in account the number of fights he delivered and the kind of punishments he took over the years. He didn't live as a monk neither.
