awesome... thanks for posting. Regardless of how disgusting or gooie they look they are there for a BIG reason most of which is to filter the oceans from toxins, bacteria etc... lest we forget, 2/3 of the Earth is Oceans and seas hence the added need for such amazing systems. Lets protect.

i don't understand why everyone is "disgusted" by this. They are beautiful creatures and have their place in life. I wonder how useful it'd be to grow life on the gyre? I'm not quite sure how well coral would grow out in the middle of the ocean but I wonder if it'd be possible to turn it into a floating reef.
