I still have this on VHS. I usually pull it out every few months and watch. Great to see such a positive response to this movie I always thought nobody knew about.
To those suggesting a remake, I heard a Bill Allen radio interview just a few minutes ago (from earlier this year) where Allen said the production company is still trying to acquire all the rights to release it intact, and that when/if it does get released, a sequel could be starting around that time.
Someone gotta re-do this, but cross it with "Bring It On" and maybe "Transformers"... just CGI the crap outta it and have it be nothing but explosions and fantastic asses... oh, and BMX....
wow , its a blast from the past . now that you guys talk about the dirt bike kid i remember the movie now . RAD and DIRTBIKE BIKE KID were the best movies . i was born in 1981 and they dont make movies like the used to . lol now im on netflix looking for the dirtbike kid . they dont have RAD on netflix , boooooooo.
I saw this movie back in back in 87 or 88 because it was when my parents first got cable at our house and it was on HBO i believe and man I still love it!
This movie is dope. Last Friday, I went to a second hand store and was their for about 2hrs. Looking for this movie and TRASHIN'. The had like two tacks filled of old school VHS tapes. No luck tho'.
:(... DIRT BIKE KID was dope too. That's tje kid from that Christmas movie where he shoots his eye out.. Lol.
8 people were never allowed a BMX as kids! this film got me into BMX'in and i still rode my Haro up until a few months ago! (i'm 36) thanks for uploading this trailer :-D
The funniest part is how, that's how I found out about the Dirt Bike Kid!...Was by watching Rad. No v.h.s. I watched as much as RAD...music, style...story = 80's hit! Loved it. Thanks for posting

My favorite movie when I was a young was The Dirt Bike Kid, and I'm pretty sure there was a trailer for Rad on that VHS that I rented a lot. That's how I found out about Rad which I also loved as a kid.
@coryandnicole Listen thats funny you say that. I guess they went the opposite with both. I got RAD on vhs, and the preview is for the dirt bike kid. that kid from Christmas story. wow. that is funny. I still wanna see dirt bike kid soooo bad. Rad is the best movie of all time I think..;...
@dtimm612 You know what's funny? There is a trailer for "The Dirt Bike Kid" on the rad vhs. I remember watching it a few times just before the movie starts. Good times.
OMG I saw this helmet at the store and was like sweet it has built in speakers for your IPod or MP3 player and was like I need this for when I am riding my BMX bike so I can crank Break The Ice and Thunder In Your Heart. It was one of those skater helmets.
@adrianvino yes like he said 100 to 200, but realy depends. my eastern was 515$ but thats because its one of the best eatern bike frames, so it depends on your style i guess
Last year, Columbia Pictures found and assembled all the original cast members to perform a live-action rendition of "RAD" when Chuck Norris couldn't find a copy of it on DVD.
Probably one of my youth highlights! I was Mophead boy in the movie. It was filmed in my home town of Calgary, Canada and I got to miss the first few weeks of my first high school year! Great memories If they ever make a seque, I would love for Mophead to return in some way! Especially with my big red mullet!
What makes this movie stand apart from every bmx movie made to date is that it came out WHEN bmx freestyle hit the scene .. There will never be an era like that again.
Its impossible... the newer bmx scene is full of riders having pissing contest with eachother on who is smoother.. back then they were creating the sport.
Oops! Finger slipped. In case anyone was even reading my post, the end of the sentence was that my dad taped over the movie with porn. Lol...not sure which was the better movie.
I woke up and this movie, for whatever reason, was the first thing on my mind. Definitely a classic! Cheesey as Hell, but I watched it EVERY DAY after school. I think my dad taped over it with some
Man i used to watch this as a kid with a friend, then go hop on our bikes and try and pull backflips. Of coarse we never landed one, just keep falling on our backs hahahaha
actually managed to torrent a copy of this months back for a friend/BMX enthusiast. The scene where the cop is chasing him through woodyard.. is pretty funny. Also managed to grab cannon ball run 3.. AKA SpeedZone thats a hard one to find as well, Eugene Levy, John Candy.. & many more.
This Movie is on DVD, i own it. It comes with the soundtrack also.. look for it on EBAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I know, i was born in 82, and this movie was the shit growing up. i tried to bust out some tricks on my DYNO. I failed. lmao
why tha hell isnt this movie on dvd.this is my childhood movie.I was born in 81 and man this movie kept me out gangs trouble the whole 9 yds.why cant they make positive movies like this n e more. These days n movies thers nothing going on accept fools gettin blasted or some chick getting bang to some cheap ass sound track
"BART FART" HE SUCKS CREW JONES FOR LIFE BABY! and I wonder if uncle jessie know aunt becky was all about this crew guy before they met and moved in with the tanners?
