  • I do not zoom while I make a video

  • Great zoom! Awesome Macro! (have this camera) Unbelievable price!

  • Awsom zoom capability, cant wait to get my hand on it. Thanx.

  • oh thank you very much for this...i want to buy this cam...this video helped me!

  • Im glad someone did it in pictures rather than video for once.

  • How good is the quality of the lens on this camera?

  • @gecmartins its pretty good, but nothing special,

  • how do i know that you didn't take a boat? *jk*

  • Pretty good :D

  • Hello...Do you know approximately how far away you where from that bridge? Seems about 200-250 yards??? Does this camera have better zoom and picture quality than the Fujifilm HS10? I want to buy either but is a tough choice . Thanks.

  • @jarheadlopez I have just measured the distance on Google Earth, and the total distance from where I was taken the photso to the bridge is 291 yards.

I have both the Olypmus SP800UZ and Fuji HS10, and I would pick the Fuji over the olypmus everytime, the zoom is a slightly longer reach on the Olympus, but the photo quality and controls are better on the Fuji.

  • @hartrockets Hey thanks for the info :) I saw some people mentioning the Canon SX30 IS...I tried it out and its great. I think I will keep the cannon since it has the optical and the pixels. I was taking shots up to 500-600 yards(according to Google Earth) and they came out crisp and clear with the right settings. Again, thanks!

  • incredible zoom! cant wait til next week when i unlock this beast

  • omg

  • Thank you so much hartrockets!

  • Hello hartrockets , sorry for my English it´s not my language. I like this camera as well as the Canon PowerShot SX210 IS. I like the 30 x zoom but I need to know how about the macro mode as I like take flowers and plants photos. Thank for your advice

  • @chichuta I have the Canon SX200 and I now use that as my main carry camera to take with me when im out. both cameras have good macro modes but I think the canon is a better camera

  • @chichuta I had the olympus and it take great macros. Although i did end up returning this camera, i now am currently saving for the canon powershot sx30is which has 35x op. zoom!! :)

  • wtf

  • @hartrockets, two question for ya.

How did you turn on digital zoom for when shooting videos?

I see no options for that under video, when i turn sound on, i cannot zoom.

Other thing is under pictures, when i try turn on digital zoom or fine zoom, they never work, it's always the conflict message. Frustrated the heck outta me

  • @OctoberAndrew HI Andrew, to turn on Digital Zoom use menu page one, under settings. then the digital zoom works on video. You cannot record sound if you want to zoom with the optical zoom.

As for digital and fine zoom they only work if you lower the photo resolution to 8 or below.

  • @hartrockets thanks for the fast reply. I assume turning on digital zoom for video recording is the same place where you turn it on for actual photo right? Under menu the 1st tab. I've set the photo to every option below 8mb and tried... still conflicting.

    Thanks for helping

  • @OctoberAndrew HI Andrew, I have another play with my camera, and found out you have to put the camera in "P" mode or "SCN" Mode, then put the resolution to 8meg or lower, then the Fine zoom and Digital zoom will work. Iauto mode etc will stop them working and give the confict error. Yes the digital zoom for video recording is the same one for photos on the 1st tab.

    I hope this helps.

  • @hartrockets thanks a lot, that worked. This Camera definitely needs a better user menu =)

When you took the photos in this video did you use the optical + digital? I've been trying with my optical zooming and can't seem to get see that far, and without a tripod i had a heck of time trying to take the pic after zooming~~

    Thanks

  • @OctoberAndrew HI Andrew, I did use a tripod to take the photos, I probably did use digital zoom, but I just reduced the resolution as I did not want to upload full res photos to youtube.

  • Insane! couldn't even see the bridge at first and it zooms so much you can see the damn screws on the fence!

  • what a killer zoom

  • Cool!!!

  • My Question is, Im in a concert I wanna record whats happening on the stage lets say adjust the zoom at 15x, Am I able to record from there with sound???

  • @MReca - Yes you can set the zoom level to anything, and record video with sound, but you will not be able to change the optical zoom setting whilst recording.

  • @MReca

  • da paura!!!!!!!!!!!

  • **

    I love this cam!

  • That zoom is a Mother fucker

  • q legal essa camera, o zoom é incrível!

    vlw

    ;D

  • Some Great Pics shows of the Zoom well you can use the Optical Zoom with Video you Just have to turn of the sound recording in the set up and then you can use the full optical zoom for video.

  • A telescope and a camera in one!

  • hey hartrockets, that 30x zoom is like freaking binoculars!!! amazing!!! anyway, i wonder if this is also waterproof?

  • @fartcious the camera is not waterproof, it will probably be ok in light rain but I dont think it will be very good in heavy rain or if it falls into water.

  • @hartrockets ohhh.... alright... thanks!

  • @hartrockets I has this camera during an outside concert-in the POURING RAIN (lol) For nearly 5 hours!! and Guess what-- didnt ruin anything. It was perfectly fine lol.

  • The camera has a 30x optical zoom and a 5x digital zoom, you can use both to take photos or videos. Both were used in this video

  • @hartrockets I hear you cant use the zoom with sound does that include the digital zoom?

  • @STRIKER520 you can use the digital zoom when recording.

  • What about the 5x optical zoom. Did you use it in this video ?

Is it possible to use this extended zoom while making pics/videos, like on the Panasonic FZ38 ?

  • sorry I meant 5x digital zoom...

  • the camera is a 14 mega pixel camera

  • How many mega pixel does it have?

  • So you've said that the sound has to be turned off while using the zoom on video recording. Do you have an external mic that you can plug in and have the audio with the video or is it completely clear that no audio can be recorded while using video? I am thinking of buying this camera but I'm trying to learn as much about it before I do. Thanks for the videos you posted so far. It has helped me narrow down my list to just four cameras with your help! :-)

  • HI Locoken, yes when recording video and using the optical zoom, theres no sound recorded by the camera.

If you want to record video with sound you cannot use the optical zoom which will stay fixed, but still will still have access to the digital zoom.

theres no socket to attach a normal external mic.

does your list contain the new Fuji HS10? I have one on order and should have it early next week, if so I will post a few videos here

  • @hartrockets Actually, all the cameras I have on my list are Olympus cameras because I'm fed up with all other brands. I have the C-770UZ that just gave up the ghost recently that was a good little Oly camera. It was only 4mp with a 10x optical lens and took better pictures than two Canons I recently bought. The first one was the PowerShot SX20 IS. I got maybe 3 pictures out of a 300+ that I could actually be happy with. I took it back and got the T1i DSLR. It's just too much camera for me.

  • @hartrockets I need a camera that is compact because I go hiking alot and need something smaller. I don't mind the T1i but I've already invested over $1000 and to get another lens (Macro) I'll be spending anywhere from $300-1100.00 again! I'm just wanting something compact. I was happy with my little C-770UZ for over 4 years and now I'm thinking I should have stayed with Olympus. The pictures just seem to be more to my liking with Olympus cameras. Let me know how the Fuji turns out!

  • @hartrockets Just did a little research on the Fuji HS10 and the high speed movies at 1000 fps sounds intriguing! Slow motion photography has always been of interest to me. You'll have to do some videos and show us how that works out. I see that the resolution goes down the higher the fps, but anything is better than the video I was taking with my little C-770. Pixelation galore! I will wait to buy until after you have posted something on the Fuji, Hart. Let me know how you like it!

  • HI Locoken, if you want a really great compact camera have a look at the Canon SX200 (not the sx20) its my current compact camera and takes fantastic photos and 720p video. it even takes better photos then my SLR! with a £1000 lens. another slightly older camera to have a look at is the Casio EX-F1, I use this to take a lot of high speed videos, all my high speed videos on here were taken with it. Hopefully the Fuji HS10 will be out on Monday and I will post videos by the end of the week,

  • More photos on my web site gallery page. Visit hartrockets . co . uk. All photos were taken handheld last few are blurry due to slow shutter speed oas photos were taken on overcast and wet afternoon

  • @hartrockets your website isnt working

  • This is great. Can you please do some other test and upload them?

The photo in full zoom seems a little blur, please do some other photos in full zoom.

    Thank's

  • Astonishing!! Is that with or without a tripod?
