my interpretation is probably 95% personal experience and 5% english misunderstanding,

but i've always felt this song was about suicide, as in his *friend* committed suicide and he's left dealing with it. dealing with the sense of guilt for not having been able to read the hints properly and to stop him.

@iclandgirl I got the impression that hes singing about his suicdal(or just depressed) friend, who will do everything to feel happy, maybe even hard drugs(testing his body, tempting disaster), and though he needs help, hes not alone. Not at all!

And then at the end he sings to al thoose that have never struggled in life, and is judging people who lives "on the edge", and says "if you got no kind words to say, you should saying nothing more at all."

Thats how i see it :D
