I remember when American trucks looked tough and square now all streamlined and all the other stuff really miss the old design but I guess freighliner looses
I would much prefer the Volvo VT880 however it is not available in Australia. According to Volvo's Website they only release the Cab Over Version here with the top of the line being the Volvo FH16 700 XXL.
As far as the Freightliner goes i would love to have the COE Argosy withh the 110 high roof cab with the DD15 engine.
My favourite engine the CAT 3406 which is no longer available as far as i know in any highway truck. The funny thing is you can still get the C15 in a CAT (Brand Named) Truck.
Id drive the Freightliner Cascadia. Mainly because of the features and the fact it is an American made truck and I dont know if Volvo tractor trailers are manufactered in the US or Sweden.
Volvo is slowling prooving it's self to me, but I still am a huge fan of the cascadia. They Volvo lookes pretty nice from the outside, but the whole interior is a disapointment. The switches are fucking huge, and ugly as hell. Sorry Volvo... Step up your game.
Sorry man you can't compare those two trucks I drive a freightliner cascadia 2010 and it has nothing on the 880 class as far as room and with the vt880 that's a big motor under the hood way more motor than freighterliner has. Now for as for looks i like the nose on new freightliners not a fan of long nose anything but small nose on volvo or pete or new kw that replaced t2000 is cool to me. i believe as wide is the truck is you should give all that room to driver in driver cab and sleeper.
CASCADIA is a nice looking truck but there is a few class action lawsuits against Freightliner because of all the problems owners are having with them. The Volvo is a sweet looking truck, has more power and more driver comfort and a proven track record of being dependable
It`s like compering honda accord to toyota corolla. It would make more sense to compare honda accord to toyota camry. Same thing with trucks. If you want to compare freigtliner cascadia to volvo, you should choose volvo 670 or volvo 770.
Cascadia's got more power my dad drives a 2007 Cascadia, its got a better motor in it though, Volvo usually has a Cummins, Cascadia's got a Mercedes. and yes Volvo is a a owner operator truck, a lot more expensive then freightliner. by a long shot
@PDMcG1091 Cascadia better ?? I have a VT 880 from vomlvo with volvo engine and I-shift , get behind me in the mountains and see what that is better. I'm not talking about speed but about power.
This is not even a good comparison. Cascadia is a fleet truck. Volvo 880 is more owner op type. Nice until you have a problem. Then try to find a dealer who will touch it. Volvo has very limited dealer network in US. they are nice inside, but if you're not rolling you're starving.
Also, the Cascadia is a real lemon and it's messing up many owner/operators' lives. I own one and it's nothing but problems week after week. We're talking about net losses in the tens of thousands dollars only in downtime. One of us has actually put up a web page about all of his problems with his Cascadia, you can check that out at (triple w) freightlinerproblems (dot com)
@MrTruckerJames Is it the truck itself of the engine? I've heard these new low emission engines are having a lot of problems, but that should be the same no matter what truck it's mounted in.
comfort and safety no doubt about it..Volvo is the Best..... I have driven freightliners and Western Stars but the very first time that I took a ride On the VOLVO 780 I shift.. was a fantastic experience..now I am almost ready to get my Volvo 780
Hard choice between the two.

@MrWill1985 I hear Freightliner is made in Mexico. Pete and KW are the only American ASSEMBLED trucks. From what I hear.
