God is a symbol, and not a real thing. In "God Hates Us". Shadows said that "God" is just a play on words. When you say something like "God Hates Us" it puts an image or emotions inside your head. That's what they are playing off of. I'd love to send you links about A7X talking about their atheism.

They have also hinted at the entire band being atheist, but Syn and Johnny have never confirmed anything. They very likely are, as Syn's father is an atheist... not to mention Johnny did choose his stage name "Christ" just to piss Christian's off.
