Would have been nice if you warned about the audio jack breaking off when removing the board. It's only held on by a small arm of the board and the audio jack is glued down. Unfortunately the audio jack ribbon cable pulled out of the jack about the same time the board broke. I don't see anyway to salvage this do you.

I got it back together and the home button works now but now I have no audio. Anyone have a spare board with audio jack attached?

hey that black cable from the battery came off nd idk the display wont ecen show when it turns on . .the ipod still works ived hooked it up to a stereo nd it still works but the display wnt even turn on idk if it has to do with the black cable that came off and i know i didnt damage anything so can u plz reply nd tell me wat 2 do id really appreciate it

When you replace the battery in the ipod touch do you lose all your stuff thats on it, like music, videos, apps ect. Also If i take the ipod and battery to an average computer store will they most likely be able to do it for me?

you can try jailbreaking it, there is a feature when you jailbreak it, you can make it have a virtual home button that you can tap with your finger in the screen for users with a broken home or sleep button.

@alexmusic07 it wont wrk. i have a 1st gen pod touch 8 gigs and since the first day i had it i jailbroke it.den my home button got stuck. now after i downloaded the virtual home button(iHome) it began working. but den my ipod jus randomly turned off a few weeks later and now it stuck on boot menu. and it goes nowhere from there. only way i can fix it is if i put it in DFU mode. and the only way i could do that is if i hold the home button long enough. and my home button now isnt workin at all.

@mislam13, i am not sure if you can still use it but try Ziphone it can put the device into dfu mode (i think)

It's important to note that on some models, the wifi antenna ribbon will tear easily, and if you try to remove the top board as shown here, it will rip off, and then it's done. Kaput. No more wifi antenna. Ever. I just did it. If only this was indicated in the video. Drat.

I'm wondering if you know of any particular things to be careful about when opening these. I've done several repairs on them sucessfully, but lately I've had quite a few in a row just totally die after being opened. It is very confusing to me. The Touch is pretty straight forward and not difficult to repair. Why would they go completely bricked after being opened? It seems like the LCD as well as the motherboard are useless, since they've been tested seperately on other iPods. Any help/ advice?

actually you just need the glass, but it is probably easier to replace the whole thing. I have heard of people replacing the glass without taking apart the ipod.
