Thanks megan...i have been debating on going natural n was afraid of what i was going to look like but lookin at your video makes me want to get off work n go straight home and BC...Thanks again
I love this video, i hav been so afraid to BC because of what others may think and i know my husband will hate it he has expressed that but from this video i finally see that this is a personal and emotional choice. Thank you so much for helping me make up my mind.
You are soooo right!!! I didnt realize how insecure I was about my hair until I asked myself."Why cant I just do it???" I was going to transition for about maybe six months so at least I could put my hair up in a puff, but after three months, I couldnt wait any longer and I bc'd. I learned so much about myself as a person, and I also grew more confident while sporting my twa.
Trinidadians are black!! some may be mixed , but who isn't? and a lot of them have our hair , a lot of spanish are black as well and have our hair even if they won't admit it
@brookey2010 Baby gurl, do you! Dont focus on what others may say/think of your hair. Just by doing the BC you may encourage others to do the same. Be a leader!!!!! Don't let others dictate what you do. Trust and believe me...if you don't do it, you will seat back and wonder why you didn't do it. We as humans tend to put off doing things we desire to do b/c we care about what other ppl think. The older you get you will realize that you have to do what you like and what makes you happy.
SOMEONE ANYONE PLEASE RESPOND TO ME, THANKS. I'M 15 YRS OLD AND I REALLY WANT TO GO NATURAL BUT IT'S A HARD TRANSITION WHEN YOU HAVE TO GO SCHOOL EVERYDAY AND BE SURROUNDED BY IMMATURE CHILDREN WHO WON'T UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF WHAT I'M DOING. I'LL GO MONTHS WITHOUT A PERM AND THEN PUT ONE IN MY HAIR. IF YOU WHERE ME WHAT WOULD YOU DO? CHOP IT OR WAIT UNTIL I GRADUATE TO DO THIS? i HAVE TWO MORE YEARS.
w0w..s0 ii seen this vide0 about 4 days ag0 && really th0ught ab0ut wat yu said ab0ut just ch0pping it, && ii did.. ii did the BC && ii feel s0 relieved/ set free! ugh..its s0 amazing..thanx f0r the input l0ve =]
wow...you need to do your research before masking a comment such as this...natural hair is wonderful and actually there is less upkeep for a natural beauty than a 'made-up' one who uses chemicals on the regular to make their hair look a certain way. ;A Nappy Headed Fool' also sounds like something from slavery days! Chile bye with this comment! It should have gone unsaid and hey Megan. I did the BC two days ago and I love love love it! Yours is beautiful!
Ok so you read my comment the wrong way!!!! I TOTALLY LOVE NATURAL STYLES . I am having a hard time with keeping myself from looking"like a nappy headed fool!"I NEED HELP! I want to go natural but just have not, I have a 5 year old who i won't use chemicals on because I want her to stay natural.I need more help on how to do that.THAT WAS WHAT I WAS REALLY TRYING TO SAY.SORRY!
I have been transitioning for for 9 months and I just did the BC last night. I don't think I made a mistake, it was time, but I don't know what to do next.
UGH I have a friend...and her hair with the relaxed hair is looking a hot mess! seriously and she keeps saying the saaame thing like I'm going to wait, like wait for what? For it to look MORE of a mess. I guess I was never really tripping when I cut mine haha I woke up, looked in the mirror and KNEW that I was going to have to cut it THAT day! So liberating, and like you said...I wished I had done it sooner!
I saw you video and was so amazed. I held on to my processed hair trying to still hold on and avoid the Big Chop. But I just got fed up and did it and it felt like a million pounds came off of my shoulders. I cant believe that hair is such a deep issue. When i looked in the mirror and saw me instead of just hair with a face attached to it. It was like for the first time I saw myself.
lol...yea, you got it right sis, its Trinidadians! And you are right, we should just cut it off already!!! Im just so scared to wear it so short and Ive never wore a wig either...but one of my natural friends has been working on me so who knows...lol. God Bless! *Vee*
Awesome Video! I agree and stand behind your endorsement for the BC. It is something to be said about black women over the age of 35 continuing to get perms. I have noticed many sisters hair in this age group thinning and finally going bald, due to the relentless chemical application.I have begun to urge sisters in this age group to go natural. I did it, and my hair is thicker and fuller than ever! I am in my 40's.
my mom is starting to do that and my grandma who had the gerry curl hair is doing that, and alot of older women with perms wear these awful str8 wigs, and i be thinkin they look a hot mess, just cause someone hair is str8 dont mean they cant look a hot mess.
I definitely agree!!! But things happen for a reason. Years ago when I was thinking about BC, I was no near educated about like I am now. I think if I did BC then I would've hated it, b/c I wasn't educated (and didn't cross youtube yet). It wasn't until earlier this year I came across you tube and educated myself and then I felt ready to BC.
when i turned 16 i just got fed up with the chemicals. something should tell you that if you are puttin this product in your hair and it goes through a process of thinning your hair then its not good and den you gotta wear gloves when applying it to someones head! but i also was becoming more mature, and concious. all this equalled up to me wanting to BC and i looked it up and when i got my products i did BC. when i thought to BC i reasearched.
Yeah i had to stop beating myself up for not doing it sooner because i actually had gotten so angry with myself, but i really just didn't no how much this is me!
I know thats right boo! It does take confidence. i never hid mine. i had men on our campus changin their minds about long straight weaves. i shocked mad people on campus and ppl (girls esp) were watchin me to see if it would grow back. i did it sophmore year 2004 and never turned back!!!
I agree! Just do it!! It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I have been natural for one year and i am loving it. I always tell people its a transformation of your look and your mind.
I waited EXACTLY 3 months and chopped that mess off....and I was fly with my TWA...lol...all that transitioning for 6, 9, 12 months is for the birds....
I agree with you,,, you were one of the people who encouraged me to go natural,,, it was in June 2008 when I decided I would not get another relaxed and my last one was April 2008,,, I was so ready I JUST DID IT,,, I didn't care what anyone had to say because I was happy with it and happy with me,,, as you stated, it takes a lot of confidence to rock a TWA and I had no problem with it...
Thanks megan...i have been debating on going natural n was afraid of what i was going to look like but lookin at your video makes me want to get off work n go straight home and BC...Thanks again

Natural hair seems to be more time consuming every day,and difficult to upkeep so you don't look like a nappy headed fool.
