  • i just started playing this 2 days ago i was stupid as a kid to miss this....damnit

  • @vengence9331 This game was practicly my childhood lol, my friend and I would spend whole weekends just trying to get different endings and we managed to get 8 of them completely on our own. So yeah, it is a true shame that you missed this game :(

  • I lost track of the number I times I played through this game when I was in high school. I can't believe it's been almost TWENTY YEARS since it came out.

  • I am one of the people who played this game in his childhood.

I will tell you i still remember all these fond memories i have playing this game.

All the time i put in this game was Really worth it.

    I miss everything.

  • 6 people got lost on the World Map

  • Give a gamer a new game and he will play for a month, give him Chrono Trigger and he will remember for the rest of his life.

  • I remember I found out about this game like 2 years ago. And I remember thinking, "All the wasted years....!!!!"

  • best song in the game

  • I didn't have this game growing up. I probably picked this up when I was sixteen, maybe? Still regard it as one of the best games ever. So it's not just nostalgia!

  • Best!

  • My girlfriend's favourite, and the way I got into this game. I share @peticachorro's pain...

What an amazing game, amazing soundtrack, amazing story, really fucking innovative gameplay, can't even be compared to any other RPG...had I known of it, my childhood could've been better than it was...

I travel to 600 A.D on the DS port just to listen to this music and cuddle with my girlfriend like we always used to...so I really love this song. A little slice of my life...

  • @AngelofKaos I leave this on my emulator for an Infinite Loop effect. Chrono Trigger is rare these days :o

  • Whenever i ever hear any of this OST's .. i feel sad .. it brings memeories of when i was a child with my grandpapa.. .. i would always Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays would go stay at this house .. we would stay up all night long playing this game. I would do coffee for him ..

.. everything is diffrenet now .. but whenever i play this OST's i just .. want to go back .. i would anything to go back.

  • lol the red haired dude looks like tapion from Dragonball Z

  • @killerkuriboh0528 "red haired dude" ?? He's the main character! Play this game now!

  • @travhave lol do they have this on the PSN i want to get it it sounds fun.

  • @killerkuriboh0528 It's on the Wii shop channel. It was made before Square joined with Sony.

  • @Rellik165 o ok also i just found it on the PSN thinking about getting it

  • unbelievable what wonderful tunes they had created with nothing more than an 8-bit soundchip!

  • @solokom ...this isn't 8-bit.

  • @Rellik165 the music in the game is.

  • @solokom No, it's not. Have you heard 8-bit? The Super Nintendo is at least 16-bit. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong of that, but this isn't 8-bit.

  • Holy crap Serah Theme from FFXIII no wonder this song sounds so familiar to me. Yep I never played this game before but planning to.

  • this song look similar to the long and wiending road

  • this tune always gives me chills, no idea why!

  • Reason why i live <3

  • EPIC GAME !

  • This is the best RPG ever and even final fantasy 6 shall bow down to it.

  • @Ngamerguy78 I most definitely agree.

  • this song make me whant to forget all about chrono trigger to start a game like if that was the first time i played unfortunately is imposible to forget the best jrpg ever made....

  • This could never sound like a track from FFXIII because FFXIII didn't have music. It just repeated a shitty theme song and a bunch of out of place jazz sessions

  • This sounds like the beginning of Serah's theme for Final Fantasy XIII, does it not?

  • @alexG1159 It would be the other way around, this came first.

  • 2nd RPG I played, after Shining Force II

  • remember playing it with my snes T^T

  • im both ashamed and proud. first because i never played it so many years now..and second because i already have played 6 hours so far..in 1 day..today!! this game is truely a piece of art!!

  • SINGLE MANLY TEAR OF NOSTALGIA

  • @cable3E MAKE THAT A PAIR OF MANLY TEARS OF NOSTALGIA

  • amazing game and soundtrack

  • snes>all other consoles ever made

  • @samvideogamemanpro

I needed to thumb up this ! D:

  • @samvideogamemanpro I agree. The N64 I still like a lot because of some incredible games....but there were never eough. I remember having to wait for certain games to come out for so long. Nintendo lost their mojo with the N64 I think, and the Gamecube and Wii were just terrible.

  • doo doo doo doo!

  • Kinda makes me think of a world where everything is black and white and frozen... lol kinda eerie

  • @Hempelsparadox That is a horrible reason to not play a game.

  • @FolstrimHori

    1000 times this.

  • @FolstrimHori

exactly. Especially when you realize Ted Woolsey did an amazing job on this game, coping with the stupid nintendo of america rules

I'm french, and I have to admit he's been one of my favorite english teacher to date

    (^^)

  • It's my favorit song in this game.

I remember childhood that I always played it.

  • If a game like this doesn't have a fan translation I reject it. I'm glad I didn't buy the game when I was younger. I hate it when official translators think it's ok to 'localize' the game and change the names of characters dialogue etc... I have to give credit to the translator/s for this game on the snes, they were given barely enough time.

  • @Hempelsparadox Wow. You had a pretty jacked up childhood if that's the way you like to judge things. They "think it's ok to 'localize'" because it's their JOB. By the way, fan translations are usually filled with errors also. Usually there are more. That is mainly due to the fact that they don't have the original script like the official translators do. That, and they try to directly translate something that can NOT translate, which in turn, makes the wording come out retarded sometimes.

  • @Hempelsparadox (Continued) And while I do understand that the official translators don't have the official script all the time (like this game), they at least make a storyline out of what's given. Fan translated games do not keep that aspect. There. That's my rant for that. Now have a nice day.

  • @Hempelsparadox I regret the fact that Youtube doesn't allow 12 year olds, Rockin' their joint.

  • Chrono Trigger.......game pretty much changed my life.

I would not love video games if it wasn't for this game.

The game soundtrack is one of the best conversions of emotion into music I have ever heard.

  • I remember way back when when I first played this game. It was at one of my relative's house and I didn't have the game yet. For some reason, I played for like an hour or so and for the longest time afterwards (my parents wouldn't buy me the game), I had this incredible longing to play this game unlike any other.

I don't know whether it was the OST or the game itself or both, but it gives me an incredible feeling of childhood nostalgia that I can't experience elsewhere

  • ♥ .

  • Ahhh great childhood stuff!

  • It seems to me that there is such a meaning behind this song. this music just completes the game.

  • snes-genesis era was the best...the only games that get me to that 90's feeling are the mario and zelda games

  • I feel deeply sad for having not played it when I was a child...

  • @peticachorro me too, when people see me playing a SNES emulator, they think i'm cheating or makes the game easier, I do use save states tough, but to save quicker for when I need to leave

  • @peticachorro I feel exactely the same =(

  • @peticachorro

Why? That means you have the great luck of being able to play it for the first time after most people!

I actually haven't played either chrono trigger or Zelda 1, Mario 64 or Ocarina of time.

And Man, I'm planning to get myself a whole Nintendo collection this summer and play the shit outta these games!

  • @Donkeygamers You better! Those games are the golden games! How in the world did you not play those ever?

  • @MrFavorite01

Because I didn't have an N64 back then. I grew up when the N64 was new, and I think I can remember how Ocarina of time hit and everyone seemed to be playing it.

I think my first gaming experience at all was some spyro game on the N64 when I was in a big store where my mother was shopping and they had a wall with consoles there for the kids to play. I think I can remember that it was awesome!

But my first own console was actually the Wii and I wasn't so much into older games then.

  • @Donkeygamers

Then I bought an Xbox 360 but I quickly realized that I barely ever played with it and that Nintendo is da shit, so now I'm trading the Xbox away to get all the nintendo stuff and maybe some atari an sega consoles later.

And boy, it's sure gonna be great playing all those games!

If I'll get my 3DS before the N64, I migh end up playing ocarina of time on that one, but I think I'd prefer playing it on a TV like it's meant to and instead play chrono trigger on the DS.

  • @peticachorro Hey man, I used to feel sad for not experiencing things when I was a child, either. But looking back, there are many things that I experienced when I was a child that I absolutely loved. I choose to focus my attention on those things when I look back. I'm in the same position as you; did not play Chrono Trigger until I was nineteen. In the future, I'll look back and think "I'm glad I experienced that when I did." There truly is no time like the present.

  • @themike9221

Great comment. I'm not that old, not yet 30, but I look back sometimes and think that my best years are behind me, thinking I'm too old to take up something new or that I should be farther along in certain things. I need to remember what you said...there being no time like the present.

  • @peticachorro I agree and thumbs up'd....but I think that when I played it as a young teenager and even a young adult it is still amazing and I dont think I missed a memory!!

  • NOSTALGIIIIIIIIIC!!! ♥ Man, I totally forgot how amazing Chrono trigger's soundtrack was.

  • love it

  • i missed this game.. no i missed it, never played it.

  • this song is tooo good.

  • When i go sleep i always put this song.

  • epic (: !

  • Listening to this song remind me alot of when i was a kid

  • The first time I heard this , i thought it was beautiful

Today , it is also beautiful !

  • so peaceful

  • I remember the first time I heard this track, emerging from the forest in the past. Instead of rushing off to the next part of the story, stopping and letting the world music loop over again as I ran loops around the map. Just like in real life, sometimes its good to just stop and take it all in. 15 years later and this music still has the same effect on me

  • Should I get this game.....?

  • @GaraOFtheeFUNK Helll yess! Alot of people think this game is better than Final Fantasy 7 and I agree with them. I really really like FF7, that's saying something.

  • @tubenachos Does the game run on a HUGE timer like pikmin? I heard it does. I hate that.

  • Comment removed

  • this song makes babies smile and adults cry

  • I remember watching my grampa play this game. . those cold nights i went to sleep over at his house. Hearing this music just made me feel warm and safe. Drinking coffe with him. Ahhh. Why did it have to change.

God. I wish i could just go back in time. Get away from this world that right now is just... i will always remember this.

  • This song is definitely my favorite song in the entire game and one of the best in the history of video game music. So awesome.

  • Back then, I learned the piano JUST to play this song and 'Frog's Theme'. Now these songs help me get girls too, thanks CT! lol

  • This and Frog's theme are my favorite tracks of Chrono Trigger, but they're all so awesome.

  • Juro que me segurei pra não chorar. Obra-prima da Square! Saudades!

  • this game was pretty much my childhood game from ages 4-13

never beat it back then but still all of the music just kinda puts me in my happy place :)

  • Let's go of a tear...

  • @i7Gam3r No! I will not! Men don't cry...oh forgot it....it's the 90's...and I miss it! Waahhh!

  • I started playing this game a few days ago and just as I heard this theme for the first time when first entering the overworld of the past. It was then I realized that this game was gonna be like nothing I've played before. Even tho its 15 years old. I'm 13 hours into the game and I'm absolutely loving it! All the different worlds and experiences are just mind blowing. But this theme is still my favourite and it my new ringtone :)

  • @SonPan1 haha awesome to hear it, this game truly is timeless!

  • Fabuleux :)

  • don't make them like this anymore, all they care about now adays is amazing graphics n making it look real, i just want a good storyline, good characters and amazing music

  • I just started playing this game for the first time and it pulled me into it right away with the music. It was with this track that I had to stop for a few minutes and listen to the track...absolutely moving. Can't wait to get deeper into this game!

  • Amazing.

    <3

  • i realy realy love this game!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • sniff...i love this game!!!

  • Trunks looks like Crono except that Trunks has purple hair and looks constipated

  • this music is played while you're ascending from earth to heaven when you die <3

  • Favorite track in the whole game, hands down... <3

  • @TheLastMinecrafter and second comes frog's theme, I think I have a crush for medieval stuff

  • Nintendo is NOT going for the hardcore gamers. That didn't work for them for a while. Nintendo SAYS they are going to take the hardcore gaming thing a bit more serious. Of course. When asked, what are they going to say? That they are going to please everybody, for sure.

Nintendo "won" this E3 cause they presented their next gen HW. They will probably lose the E3 when the other companies do the same.

Hardcore gaming is not being as profitable as casual gaming. No reason to go back to it, sadly.

  • unforgettable game :)

  • @Boonypoo Nintendo is still seen as a great company. The new console will focus more on hardcore gamers. Have you seen the whole e3? Nintendo was deffinitly the winner. Just check what they all anounced. Nintendo gets things done. Cant say that about microsoft and sony.

I mean comeon. A new halo trilogy?

  • *listens to the track*

FUCK THAT I'M TAKING OUT MY OLD PS1!!!!

  • FUCK OFF Hilcrhyme

  • @Boonypoo

    "Nintendo and Sega"

    "no fanboys"

    Buahahahahahaha. Yeah right.

  • @EmperorFishFinger Hahahaahah xD Awesome dude =P that is one big fail xD

  • Awesome.

  • So glad this came to the Wii's Virtual Console

  • <3

  • Great song!!! everyone check out me playing this on the keyboard and let me know what you all think! :)

  • i started playing this game recently, its so great

  • i feel eerie listening to this song, it makes me remember my childhood when i was still a little kid, when i don't know how cruel the real world outside my house is, and i'm playing this wonderful game every and a whole day :D

and i think i prefer the game as it is now. it is the simpleness that made me always love this game, modern games often can't give a long lasting memory to me no matter how good the graphic or anything is. so if there is a remake, i think it won't be as good as this one

  • @senocapism There's a remake on the DS... I lost my SNES cart, so I might have to buy it... T^T

  • @senocapism You're absolutely right, 100%. Except I'm glad I didn't play this game until I was like 21. I tend to get super nostalgic, and with this sweet music, it would be depressing to think back to the good old days, haha.

This is my favorite piece from the game.

  • @senocapism Developers didnt have the tools to make awesome graphics. Now they do and thats the no.1 priority. Imagine if this game had been made today. It would nowhere near be as good. Back then developers depended on music and story and gameplay to make it an epic game. Which this is. Not bloody graphics

  • @gilgammesh1

yep i completely agree if chrono trigger was made today it would probably suck ass :( such a pity

at least we have nippon ichi software and bandai namco (square soft and enix "died" at 2003, Atlus has no money so Atlus just translated game, capcom doesn't make rpgs generally etc).

  • @senocapism what happens when you get older and realize that life isn't eternal? that's what this reminds me of.. life is wonderful in youth and REALLY scary when you get older and come to the realization of your own mortality.

  • I'm going crazy or is this the same song that plays at the title screen of Final Fantasy XIII? When I started playing FF XIII, I remembered Chrono Trigger at the same time!

Check this song here on youtube and compare: Final Fantasy XIII - Title Screen Music

  • @eusoualan nobuo uematsue did disc 2 and part of three of the music collection because

yasunori matsuda got sick from his stomach ulsers due to high levels of stress

  • hey guyz this game cant be as awsome in good graphic and u know why =)

  • @hurlubu Because remakes ruin everything?

  • @MrPivotjuggalo it would appeal more to the newer generation and hopefully lets square distinguish the difference between the amazing games they made back then to the trash they make now. Remakes do not ruin everything.

  • @theburnttree77 Well in some aspects remakes of certain things ruin the game/movie. I just think that this game is kinda too perfect to remake into 3d, but thats just my opinion.

  • I don't understand Square Enix. They realize what a great game this was and what a huge cult following it still has to this day, but they will not capitalize on it. We want a legit remake/sequel. And the DS doesn't count. Same with ffvii. It would be huge! But instead we get FFXIII-2. Did anyone ask for that? Well I guess Square Enix is trying to preserve the purity of these games. Nobel, but disappointing.

  • love it

  • The harmonies in this song are ridiculous. I feel goosebumps shoot down my arms every time I hear this. =')

  • Most recent update for MSPA had this track's pizzicato strings mixed with Secret of Mana music and the flute from FF6's Terra's theme, along with a few original additions. Not sure how this bodes for Terezi.

  • Sadly I have never played this game before..I'm glad I know about it now because this music MAKES ME WANT TO PLAY IT. GAH, SO BEAUTIFUL.

  • Someone should play this with a trumphet!

  • IMA SOO HAPPY WHIT THIS MUSIK

  • Feels like home

  • thumbs up if u agree with below minus all da hate >:3

  • Stop being a bunch of nostalgic pricks.

Stop saying this is the best game, yes it was good but it wasn't the best.

Do we even need "best"? What happened to having fun?

This game doesn't need to be remade with "HD Graphics" because it's not going to make the game any better.

    Squaresoft is now mistwalker,

Also no one cares about CoD it's all just stereotypical lore.

  • @falconriffle The 2D sprites is the essence of the game as well as the non orchestrated 16-bit songs.

  • @BTDiLmarinen Though, that said, did you hear the orchestrated versions out there?

It sounds pretty damn good, by any standards, whether it's today's standards or those of old.

  • @falconriffle Thanks for the super duper cool tips.

  • one of the best games ever created. it's story, so deep. a love tale, an action flick, a story about the fight between good, evil, and time itself. truly a classic.

  • 1 person never played chrono trigger *cough* the best game of all time *cough*

  • I finished the story of the game, on DS and... That game is so awesome... Some themes almost make me want to cry when I think to the story (I know its totally weird... AND I'M NOT GAY!)

Say what you want, but WE NEED MORE GAMES LIKE THIS ONE!

  • Why i ask why Square is not making such geat games like in old times?

  • If there's anyone else out there who constantly replayed this game just to stop and listen to the beautiful music tracks for a while, besides me...thumb this comment up!

I feel like reliving those glory days, now...I'll just turn on the ol' SNES.

  • @ifnsman heh.. indeed, I like to go at places because of the music, and I keep listening with my group immobile x).

  • @ifnsman buddie i hear ya "glory days" indeed

  • I won't buy my children a PS6 or Xbox 1080. They'll get a Nintendo DS with jewels like this, Pokémon Gen. 1, Megaman 2 & 3, Golden Sun 1 & 2 and Zelda: ALttP.

  • Couldn't they just get Golden Sun 3 for the DS?

  • @koopashell10 imo, golden sun 3 DS music was SOOOO horrible... nowhere near as good as music from CT or CC

  • I CAN PLAY THIS ON THE PIANO :D

I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF

  • @hannahnelson80 You can, I ensure.

  • And following what I said, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes proves that an amazing remake can be done without the original design team. Lol

  • Sadly, despite the fact that damn near everyone who originally created CT wants to do a remake, the majority of the original design team save for the obvious like Akira Toriyama and Nobuo Uematsu are working on that P.O.S. FFXI Online >_>.

If for any reason a remake does happen, regardless of whether it's the original design team that remakes it or not, I may be the happiest gamer on the planet the day I first get to experience Chrono Trigger all over again.

  • Can anyone figure out the instruments used in this?

  • This is the best song of all times.

  • I didn't grew up with this game, since I was born in the PS1 era, but recently got this game for my DS and it's easily one of the best games I have ever played. ( And I have played a lot of them!). So far this is my favorite music in the game.

  • the music gaming playlist

    sites.google.com/site/myutubeclub/Axl-googlede58176f04add403html

  • why is this theme so familiar...?

  • Lol Akira Toriyama.
