@Saffiloni Hey Saffiloni, Insanity is no respecter of age... it KILLS EVERYONE equally! LOL Pace yourself and do only what you can. I had to build myself up for a couple of months BEFORE taking on this challenge. I thought I was already in pretty good shape when I started. Boy, did I learn quickly! Insanity really IS INSANE!
Im going to be starting this workout soon. How many times in a week did you workout though? Is their a schedule for insanity or can you do it like every other day?
@mg2823 Great question mg - it's six days a week and one day off! You do this for 9 weeks! They don't call it Insanity for nothing... LOL! However, whatever works for you - most people have to modify this routine because it is that hard. Do what you can; listen to your body.
@DavidMacgreggorUSMC Hey Dave, can you say, "BURN-OUT". I'm going to take a wild guess about the USMC and ask, "What if you did your Basic Training for a whole year?" While you probably COULD, why would you want to? What would be the real benefit, if any? I think of Insanity as a wicked KICK-START. But it would be one helleva grind to do that routine all the time. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you don't train HARD. But you definitely want to mix up your routine.
@russhamel Im only 16 u can check my facebook for proof &Im not in the Marine Corps yet im still going through some of the recruiting process and getting high school over with...its been a dream of mine to become a Marine but anyway I have been doing MC PT(Physical Training)and i have been losing weight and gaining mussel mass but it pondered me would I benefit? so its a 50/50% to see witch one is better for me(keep doing MC PT or do insanity till i get sent to boot camp?)
@DavidMacgreggorUSMC Awesome Dave, sounds like you've got a plan. Just saying a year is a LONG time for something as intense as Insanity. I think even Mr. 'Dig-Deeper' Shaun T. would agree, give it a break - mix it up with some cross training. You don't have to let up - but I think for your body-mind-spirit, you would benefit TREMENDOUSLY by mixing it up. All the best to you, my young friend! Live your dream!
@russhamel Alright ahaha & thanks for the advice it will be very helpful for my future dream! OOORAHHH now im pumped up ahaha take care and take it easy :D
@aimesbson Flattery will get you EVERYWHERE! :) Thanks for your kind words. Hard to believe that it's almost a year since I did the Insanity Challenge. While I haven't done Insanity since - and more than likely will never do it again... too painful - I'm still keeping myself in great shape with other routines that are just as challenging while being kinder to my joints.
@luvmypeaceofmind Weight was never a very big issue. At 5'5", heavy for me is 155 lbs. I started out this Insanity program around 150 lbs and got down as low as 142 during the nine weeks. I could have lost a LOT more weight had I stuck to the suggested diet plan... but I was RAVENOUS and a bit undisciplined in my eating habits.
Today - 5 months after I completed Insanity, my weight is 148 and I'm maintaining that 33" waist - would like to whittle it down to 32". Eating is still the key!
Many congratulations for achieving your goal . like to know how did you get your self motivated to do this? what is the best time of the day do you exercise? I am getting inspired by watching your videos.i just need need to order my Dvd and get started i will keep yo posted for sure thank you and good luck .
@nasso60 I've got two step-daughters who were CONSTANTLY making fun of my tummy. I'm not a big guy to begin with at 5'6'', but at 155 lbs any extra weight seemed to center in my tummy. So those two girls were my STICK! My gorgeous wife is definitely my CARROT. She's 12 years my junior, so I like to keep myself in good shape for her. I keep kidding her that I'll be kicking her butt when I'm 100!
So yeah, find yourself BOTH a carrot and a stick (positive & negative motivation). It works!
@swiss86watches Tommy, on those days where you are asked to do a Fit Test AND another workout, I just did the Fit Test. Those are the important days where you measure your progress; that's why I think if you want to choose between the two, the Fit Test would be the one. Just my opinion.
Hello my name is Tommy im 25 not to be rude but how old are you? you really motivate me im in my 4 week now ur Amazing GodBless and Keep up th Good work
@swiss86watches Hey Tommy, thanks for visiting and also for your encouragement. I did the videos to keep MYSELF accountable as I had a very poor track record for finishing what I started. The Insanity Program is without a doubt, one of the hardest things I've done in my 57 years (yes, you read that right FIFTY-SEVEN). I can't tell you how many times I felt like quitting... this things really PUNISHES old bodies like mine! But I DID IT... so ANYONE can do it if they only DIG DEEPER! :)
Today's my last day of recovery week. Very nervous for Monday's Fit Test/Max Interval Circuit combo. Strongly considering an am/pm split for that. Good job man! You're an inspiration to keep moving forward with this craziness.
@slamious Thanks for visiting and for your encouraging comments! Yes, you have every right to be nervous - the second part of this workout series is INSANE! As I mentioned earlier, the only part of the schedule I did NOT do was the two days where there was a Fit Test followed by a workout. You might have a good idea to split them up... for me, since I put everything I had into the Fit Test, I didn't feel I had anything left for another hour of Insanity!
i have a question . Do you do both workouts for each day back to back or take a break in between ? for example on tuesday month 1 it says plyometric and cardio circuit. so do you do the plyometrics then immediately start the cardio circuit ?
@qrishellerichardson Simply insert the DVD for that day and push play. The routines are all-inclusive. The only two days I did NOT follow to the letter were on Fit Test #3 and Fit Test #4 which were to be followed by the Max Interval Circuit DVD. After putting everything I had into the Fit Test, I had NOTHING left in the tank for ANY extra workout, let alone the MAX Interval Circuit - the hardest DVD in the entire set! If you have the DVD set, this should be a clear explanation.
I'm 31 and i really can't do this!!! Great job!!!
