Yes, I played lead guitar on this "I FOUGHT THE LAW" back in 1962.
I have a story about "I FOUGHT THE LAW." On July 21, 1986, an article was published in The Arizona Republic about Bobby Fuller. It stated that in 1956 Bobby joined a band called The Royal Lancers. In 2000 I contacted Bobby's brother, Randy, about the article. Randy said that the name of the band that Bobby joined was The Royal Coachmen. Randy got goosebumps about our version of "I Fought The Law" and our band, The Royal Lancers.

@SUNTECHSAMFSC The guitars are what give this one a Holly-esque feel. I find it similar to Buddy's rendition of "Brown-Eyed Handsome Man." Anyways, you should put your stuff on iTunes. I'm sure there's people who would love to hear the Lancers.
My Father (a Policemen) came home from work one day & said to me: "Jimmy- I picked-up Your Guys today in the Ambulance (meaning 'You' Paul, & some of the Lancers...Apparently you'd had a minor accident??
"I FOUGHT THE LAW" was the most requested songs at all the rock 'n' roll venues in Wisconsin. After Buddy Holly died this song was recorded by Buddy's back-up group, The Crickets, on an album. We decided to record it on a single, and it was a good decision. We played at a booth at the Wisconsin State Fair doing 45 minute sets every hour, 12 or more hours per day. Our first and last song each set was I Fought The Law. It sold extremely well locally (#1) and regionally and provided a lot of gigs.
@SUNTECHSAMFSC Thanks for the info! Are you a member of the Royal Lancers? I've never heard of this version before, but I really like it. Who knew such an obscure song from an underperforming Crickets album would make it so big? It's also interesting to note the similarities between this and Bobby Fuller's timeless rendition, despite Bobby probably never hearing this version.
Awful Elvis wannabe imitator. Became a car wash attendant a few weeks later.
