yes best keep the discus a lot of space and they are quite hard to keep!

Nice Plant aquarium. However, the discus are in poor health. They look sick and stunted. Discus are not meant to be kept in a planted aquarium. Rarely do you see any healthy discus in one.

plants are beautiful, wish mine looked that nice; I tried a 216 watt HO fixture along with a DIY carbon dioxide infusion and all I seem to be able to grow is a reddish brown slime covering everything. Finally gave up on the plants and put my original 48" plant light back. My plants are low light plants hopefully they will survive. My Discus seem to be doing great, just can't seem to have the same success with my plants.

im starting a 55 gallon freshwater community aquarium with mollys, platys, gouramis, swordtails, and a small type of peaceful tetra (neon?cardinal?)... how can i mix these types of fish to make sure the tank isnt overstocked?

@NYYROCK well if you are a beginner i recommend you don't do this. your discus won't appreciate living with all those "community" fish

@NYYROCK Hey I love fish and nice combo! I recomend you add a pleco in the mix. He will keep your glass clean. Because Neon/Cardnil tertra are schooling get about 10-15 of them. Get 5-7 mollys or platys or swordtails and buy about 3 dwarf gourami.

yes u are very correct they are closly related to angel fish. NEVER EVER EVER MIX THESE WITH AFRICANS EVER they are extreamly delecict an hard to keep as they need very soft water. if u would like to set up a tank with them ask me an i can help u

Nah thanks 4 the offer though. I hate checking the waters hardness and pH. And making sure its ok. I like africans cuz they are easier to keep. U just set the tank up and forget it. I dont check the pH or nothing like that. Its kinda stressfull, and u have to spend alot of money on chemicals.

i have some discus and one just recently died from not being able to eat. One of my other discus is attacking them when they close to the worms. Does this trait go away after time or do they always do this?

well my friend, after months of research and countless hours in the lab i have made a theory based on some convincing evidance. the discus fish naturaly are rather agressive fish, especially when they are no other species present, my advise is to isolate the most agressive one, and slowly introduce him back to the tank, good. ps: keep close watch on your ph level, and the NO3^2- low

they are dead now, the guppies. The discuses have formed 3 pairs so far, all went on crazy sex sprees, and are now apparently retired from breeding, and break up as well

I would not recommend a small clutch of discus living in a tank smaller then 70 gallons. Water quality will be tricky and these fish demand water on the soft side.

Discus - is fish which is interesting to keep, grow and watch to. But about this viedo... discus are too little, with bad shape and size. No colour and I never say that their happy. Even plants could look much better. Good luck in trying to improve something.
