  • I always thought "People are Phoney" would have been a much better title....

  • Wow. 54 was a dud year! Annie Oakley? Did we really watch that? But boy were the western popular. What was western night? Friday night? Saturday night was all the variety shows I think.

  • @2agray There were westerns on several nights. At this time they were on Saturdays and Sundays. I remember seeing ANNIE OAKLEY on Sunday afternoons along with THE LONE RANGER. This would have been around 1955/56 to my memory.

  • Captain Midnight also refers to the male phallic part.

  • Check out Sid Melton ("Alf Munro" on "Green Acres") in that clip of "Capt. Midnight". And "Flash Gordon", directed by the immortal Gunther V. Fritsch. (Who??) Art Linkletter - R.I.P.

  • @elc1960 Nowadays, Capt. Midnight ("A private citizen who has never ceased battling his country's enemies!") would be thrown into Federal prison as a vigilante and mercenary! :-(

Does that segment of "Flash Gordon" remind anyone else of the opening of "The Doomsday Machine" on "Star Trek"?!?

  • Thanks for this priceless post!

  • When Flash comments on the planet dead ahead why does he look th left?

  • LOL dyslexic I guess!
