  • Tori is an artist, through and through. ADORE HER.

  • What a brilliant version! The studio live / broadcast vidz generally have good audio and the camera work is excellent.

  • why can't she say 'golden gun'??...hmmm

  • @touber2011 the FCC im betting... they dont care the context... thats messed up! good point out...

  • @touber2011 She usually doesn't sing the words "golden gun" when she performs this live. Not sure why, just a stylistic choice maybe? But it's not because she couldn't say it on TV.

  • bahhh wish more woman would be like her with thier music and make it thiers

  • a musician's musician. a piano player that stays out of the bass players way. luv from seattle

  • Their kids would probably be superhuman...

  • @farsah14

I think he would have destroyed her. She needed a sidekick, not another superhero?

  • Nine people ride the little yellow school bus.

  • Ha! a full-on Tori experience. Her voice! And there is not a better pianist today.

  • kippenvel !!!!

  • never was a corn flake boy, i thougt it was a good solution ,haging with raisain boys, he gone to the other side, even us to you to hold, thing are geting kind of grose, and i dont sleepy bye n this is not realy not realy realy happeing yeeea ,u bet u life it is,u bet u life it is,ohh u bet u life it ,it a peel of the watch word just peel of the watch word,he know he know what going on seems we gota keep a feel now all the sweet seeds are gone gone on to the other side with my enxcylpidia kc t.

  • This was around '98, after the miscarriages. She always seemed to have an extremely rough exterior at that time (and obviously those losses had alot to do with it). You can see it in her facial expressions. She never really smiled, even in interviews.

You can also see that the only happiness that she felt during that time was the kind she felt while playing the songs. After she had Natashya, she became much softer and exuded the love/happiness she was missing back then.

  • Biggest Girl Crush Ever!!! She is beyond fabulous!!!

  • ?brilliant everyday!

  • nothing compares to tori's music. nothing..

  • The inspiration from cornflake girl came from tori's love of cornflakes, she knew that raisins were rare in the box and she did not know if she liked the raisins better or the flakes themselves, she always got upset when the box went empty and she was out of cereal so 'you bet your life it is' refers to that moment when she hopes there's still some cereal in the box and asks herself 'is there really no more cornflakes? 'Man with the goldenGun is her father with money to buy more... cornflakes:)

  • The most talented artist of our time. She's just freaking amazing.

  • Tori, is the daughter of a "disciple" she knows what she is singing about, @ the piano is subperb

  • Where can I find a version with good quality and loud sounds?

  • she is so cute

  • I hate this new autoplay feature

  • (taken from wikipedia, that's quite interesting! ;) )

  • The reference to cornflakes and raisins comes from their distribution in a box of breakfast cereal, implying that "raisin girls" are much harder to find than "cornflake girls".

  • Amos was angered by the idea that a mother could subject her daughter to such a brutal act, and the song arose as an exploration of the idea of betrayal between women. In the song two factions of women are referred to: the "Raisin Girls" are "multicultural" and open-minded, while the "Cornflake Girls" of the title are "narrowminded and full of prejudice".

  • The inspiration for "Cornflake Girl" came from Alice Walker's novel Possessing the Secret of Joy, about a young African woman going through the ritual of female genital mutilation.

  • 1 interpretation might be that it's about premarital/teen sex, and her preacher father's disbelief in his daughter's rebellion. She was never a "cornflake" girl, hanging w/ the "raisin" girls. Yes, it may also be a comment on the absurdity of taking "sides", but maybe the raisin girls are the promiscuous ones, cornflks being "proper". She peeled out the watchword! Circumcision = metaphor?

I may be wrong, but the best songs tend to have many layers/interpretations, so it's awesome either way! =D

  • I call that MUSICIAN!!!

  • wow

  • this is incredible!!!!!!

  • Love love love Tori Amos. Has more talent in her little finger then most have in their entire body. What a beautiful and creative-ly artistic woman. Thank you Tori for the beauty in your music.

  • the guy behind her is hott

  • I have loved Tori for over 12 yrs. So much of her music/lyrics relate to so much of my lives experiences; I consider us kindred spirits. She is awesome on the keyboards, has a beautiful voice and I think she is georgous to boot!

  • 5:39 I expected "rrr" and what I heard just made me laugh :D Her appearance in "Storytellers" is one of her best tv performances, she sounds and looks soo beautiful.

  • I love her music, her moves and her hair!

  • I just love watching her tickle the ivories.

  • love the bass

  • What's this song about?

  • Comment removed

  • @Fuliginosus An audition she had for a "Cornflakes" commercial (rival was Sarah Jessica Parker) in the 80s. That, and female genital mutilation.

  • @toolbandsober It was not an audition for a commercial nor about mutilation. It is about black & white, right * wrong. But, mostly it is a NEW song and off style that a copyright seeker may want to take a look at. It was an advertisement to say to him, "come out and let's play" The FBI saw what you did to your last victim. The victim is mutilated not the singer nor the song. You don't know any scam artist into that now do you?

  • @Fuliginosus... Aparently it's about female circomcision in east africa. Male and female circumcision are both a violation and an abuse. These cultuaral and religious activities need to be re evaluated.

  • @Romanusmilus Why don't you anyway?

  • Because I'm content. Anyway take it easy it's just my personnel preference. Its not for everybody.

  • My point was that I don't think it was an abuse to me or my culture as MsMosquito stated. And I beleive it wrong for somone to push there beliefs on a whole of society

  • She's a GODDESS...and l repeat this loud and clear ..GODDESS...perfection, beautiful at the extreme, seductive and so talented, her music is running my vain, through my whole body and sinking deeply into my soul...Love YOU TORI !!

  • SHE IS THE BEST!!

    LOVE HER!!

  • I know there are a lot of talented female singers/musicians out there but a vast majority could learn a thing or 2 from this extremely talented woman if they just stopped worrying about whether they're pretty or not and write some music that stands the test of time instead of the soulless passionless garbage that only gets released because they happen to look good....Susan Boyle being an obvious exception of course :)

  • @merman7474 Susan Boyle...really?? Could you name something more comercial than that person?? Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • @merman7474 would you say the same thing if Tori looked like Whoopi?

  • @merman7474 Yes, but the meaningless stuff makes execs rich and tori just confuses them. lol

  • @merman7474 Thank you for that comment. It's ... a good reminder actually. It's for people like you one does (make music)... if one finally does....coz one decides it's time to stop being caught up. ;)

  • hot hot and hot!!!..love the song and tori lol

  • one of the best songs ever,an exremely talented woman. ill love this song forever

  • This is an example of a Sublime but Properly dressed Professional Female Singer! She furthermore is a cunning pianist and feel its instrument and play it energetically to such a degree! 5 Stars, without wandering!

  • At her physical best here...just beautiful...

  • Exquisite.

  • Is she married?..Cuz she is perfect

  • yeaah she is. I remember because she has mentioned having a miscarriage.

  • You are perfectly right! Perfect and Proper! She is an example of this!

  • she's great

  • great piano work!!!!!!!!!!

  • Za! Now thats a performance.

  • Tori is fantastic in concert. Saw her in Kalamazoo years ago and East Lansing. Being from Battle Creek, I always liked this tune.

  • I love Tori, and the guy on the guitar is pretty hot to me x )

  • Whops, I ment bass.

  • I should never have changed my looks if Tori fans love guys looking like him :)

  • Haha, yeah x) Bad move.

    and it never gets old.

Wish this could've been a cd version!

    Always cheers me up.

  • me too!! I just favorited it so I can :)

  • @Imxoneofthefallen

Do you have the double cd "To Venus and Back"? There is a version of "Cornflake Girl" on the second cd that is almost exactly like this one!

  • Absolutely love love love this song. Very Emotive Subject.

  • Gosh I love this woman

  • wow, I loved her for 15 years now and she STILL amazes me!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOVE HER !!!!

  • WHAOW as usual .

  • best. performance. ever.

  • Of which year is this performance?

  • Probably 1998 or 1999.

  • Einfach ein Wahnsinn. Eine tolle Sängerin und diese Live-Version ist toll.

  • Ein ein Wahnsinn!!!!!!! Ich liebe diesen Song und sie natürlich :-)

  • One of my favourite songs by her. So great, and amazing! Especially this live version. She's definitly worth seeing live. I hope to see her again sometime soon!

  • God, she's so beautiful! This is when I fell copmpletely in love with Tori. Pele introduced me to her, but Choirgirl sealed the deal. Look how beautiful she is! And so talented! Rarely do you get both.

  • My favourite ever version of this song. Amazing.

  • Saw her in August on South Beach. Great show.... just a great show.

  • seeing her on the 6th of september, a month and a day!!

it's such a shame i didn't get the chance to see her during the dew drop inn tour 96 because i would have loved to have seen it-but i was only 6 XD

  • I'm seeing her in concert on the 12th of November!

    Can't wait!

    <3

  • Where? Pls tell me!

  • Utter original and utter classic and a national treasure! I wish I could talk with her.

  • Under the Pink was definitely the highlight. Got to see her live in '96. Awesome! Her versions of "Angie" and "Smells like teen spirit" are also noteworthy! She's a queen. A little dissapointed about the nose job, however.

still love her, "welcome to england"s pretty good

  • I'm thinking facelift or botox. Not a nose job. Either way, it's gross.

  • I keep coming back for more.

    So good..

  • gosh im new to tori amos but I wish I knew her back when she was making amazing music. Let's face it, her recent stuff fails! I listen to her older stuff and im amazed. im young (17) so i missed the tori train but I still love her music (older stuff though)

  • i agree. I just don't think she'll be able to top the genius of Choir Girl, Boys, and Under the Pink

  • I know how you feel. I was lucky though because when I was growing up my mom was really into Tori so I got to hear all of her older stuff (like Under the Pink) when it was just coming out. Now that's all I listen to of hers.

  • another great Baltimore native.Check out Linda Perry or Santogold

  • Same here. I'm the same age and I myself am just starting to listen to her.

Just love her piano solo! She looks like she is having so much fun while she plays, it's inspiring!

  • She is the only woman on earth right now who has real musical talent and yet all we hear on the radio is teenybopper bullshit that has no real meaning.

  • I wouldn't go that far. There are plenty of incredibly talented female musicians out there. you're right about all we hear on the radio being bullshit though. The fact is, most good music requires the use of your brain, and the pop baby food music that is being played is just easier to digest. It's intellectual laziness. That and the performers are usually hot, which sells products. Pop music is pretty much just advertising.

  • When you get a chance listen to Linda Perry or Adele or even maybe Santogold. Rob in Baltimore

  • 2:16 - 2:22 = falling in love instantly. What a woman, what a talent and what a passion. Unbelievable.
