They seem like they aren't as good because they are using Ping Pong equipment, instead of their normal equipment. I saw this on ESPN, its all Ping Pong Brand equipment.

The russian Was about 40 in the world ittf ranking before. This was for making table tennis easier to watch for the people who don't know anything about real table tennis.

Lot of really good players were playing it. Also because it has the same price money as real world championships...

Enjoy it for what it is. These people would destroy anyone playing with sand paper. This was on US National TV.

This is a sand paper tournament like in the past before cushioned rubber took over. Totally different game (but these people are also top players with cushioned rubber). If you haven't played with sand paper .. you have no idea how incredibly talented these people are.

This is quite the way people used to play table tennis until the 1950's. They do NOT use inverted rubbers (with sponge), which would provide a lot of spin and speed.

The coverings of the rackets chosen in modern table tennis are way more related to high tech! So, this might look boring compared to modern table tennis world class, but on hardbat these guys are very good. ^^

This must be some strange, shirt pips only tournament. They are actually fairly decent. I don't know if they are good enough to be in the final - I am pretty sure that I have seen better players with shirt pips. What is sad is that there hasn't been one world class table tennis tournament in US in decades, prize money for actual TABLE TENNIS US open is only a few G's, and no world's big names ever come to it any more... In the light of that, this looks more like a bad joke((
