@Hanklink1014 i love the animations that apple does for some reason. it makes it fun when i use my ibook. and all the colors. i know that makes me sound very simple minded, but when your in college and have been working on a paper for a few hours its fun to have a humble computer interacting with you. :)
I was able to find this particular operating properly by means of roulettecash-org, My partner and i was doubtful at first, yet they let us use the program for no cost.
Apple pays an extreme amount of attention to detail and polishes their products immensely. It's hilarious how 11 years later, Microsoft's current operating system doesn't even come close to most of the stuff shown here. I'll be extremely happy the day I own a Mac.
@JJDinomiteLives 10 years is a long time. 10 years is like a hundred years as far as technology's concerned. The fact that Apple achieved something like this back in 2000 is incredible.
wow. ten years this OS has been kicking, and i've only just started using it for the first time a couple of days ago when i got my first apple machine.
WOW...this was in 2000? People are going nuts over insignificant little things in the OS that we don't even notice today. I know it was revolutionary back then, but it's really incredible at how archaic operating systems were just 10 years ago. Now the iPhone/iPad OS is changing the way people think of an OS. In 10 years, the iPad will look archaic.
@vantageIIx I know it was great in comparison back then. It's just that recently I've been thinking about movies that I went to see in the late 90s/early 2000s, and what the world was like at that point in time (because I tend to use movies as marker points in time for whatever reason). It just feels weird that in the year 2000 technology wasn't more advanced than it was. The last decade has just passed by so fast that I guess I forgot what it was like.
@prgwbtd i know what you're saying lol. i find it hard to believe that just 10 years ago i was playing shockwave games over a dial up connection on my win98 p3 laptop. after i watched this video i was amazed at seeing how advanced this operating system, even though it looks like nothing today, was compared to what i thought was incredible at the time. especially how ugly windows 98 was compared to cheetah's streamlined interface.
this is very kagged. It was very hard to watch and I really tried to pay attention but it got veru confising, especially during the demo parts because he was talking about something but doing something else in the video.
I dont know. I just think that to earn an honest living, people should either have real jobs.I'm not entirely sure that Pirillo doesnt have a job, but for the amount of time he spends on live feeds, it would appear not.
I dislike how he has all the latest gadgets, either bought from his non-job, or donated by companies. Reviewing things should be a priviledge, to see brand new technology before everyone else, not a job. leave that to the guys that work at Apple, Yamaha etc
Damn, he makes more money in advertising then most people do working full time. How is that not a job? it sure seems like alot of work to be his hobby, doesn't it? Would you prefer he work a gas station? TELL ME NO LIES. jk
The apple in the middle wasn't actually a menu at all but just decoration. They were going to do away with it altogether but decided against it. In any case the apple menu in OS X since 10.0 largely serves a different function than it did in pre-OS X. In OS 9 and below you could change the contents of it.
I just recently switched to Mac from PC. I have used PC's since I was 4 years old. I have to say that the interface and usability is much better on a Mac. Macs are still too expensive, but it is worth it if you do video or really want your computer to last for a long time.
Unfortunately the audio is not synced. What is my suggestion that you can open this video in two tabs, and adjust the sound in first one with video in the second. That can be helpful if this unsynchronized audio angers you.
BTW, the difference is about 9 seconds. I managed to open twice this video with 9 seconds difference, and I had greatly synced picture with sound. Just in case if you would try to do it guys. :]
I agree that Windows is the prime OS out there, but you gotta give Apple credit. He was announcing this in 2000. What was Microsoft doing in 2000? Coming up with another gaudy UI Operating System called Windows 2000.
I just noticed that the Apple menu is nonexistent, with teh Apple logo being at the center. And the Application Name list is represented by teh icon itself, from what I see and my guesses are.
Yes. There were changes by the time 10.0 launched and then more changes (and stability upgrades) for 10.1 almost immediately.
The OS has evolved very subtly since its introduction, so I don't quite remember specifically the changes back then (I've been a user since its introduction).

Sometime around 2002, my aunt bought an iMac G4 with OS X installed. My opinions of Mac and Apple in general changed pretty quickly after I used that particular machine ;)
if they did that, apple wouldn't sell any computer, & OS X would become buggy and bloated, who wants Mac OS X on UGLY beige boxes, its like saying that I want the guts of a Ferrari in my Audi. It certainly doesn't cost the premium that Ferrari charges to actually make those engines and components ... why won't Ferrari just open up and license their technology to other car manufactures? its the same principle with Mac OS X and why it shouldn't be set free
It's funny to see what most amazed the tech crowd then, because they know what the most technically difficult things are. Note the erupting cheer at 5:09.
