  • very important video.

    Piergiorgio, thanks for sharing!!!

  • That was just a little one with no chance without it mom. Sometimes moms abandon calfs for no real reason. Perhaps it was her 1st calf, they are most likely to abandon their offspring. At least it died a painless death, not one at the hand of whalers or a hungry Great White. I'm not expert, but was there no chance to try to move it to some types of aquaric center? I guess not. Bye little one :(

  • @Starbuc1 He couldn't live with the mother because he needed to eat her milk. =/

  • did something like this happen with another baby whale?

  • not sure which one you refering too, but about 25% of Japans Whaling quota is calves. Its illegal to hunt calves under a certain age even if its under the loophole of "reserach whaling". Same with pregnant mothers, which they still take.

This one calfs death is one of many, it ment alot for australians as everyone got together to try save it while realising another 1000 whales, much bigger then this one calve, die ayear in Austalian 'claimed waters.

  • I mean did a different baby whale get lost and find its way into a harbor before? I'm having some really weird deja vu

  • hmmmm maybe. Not that I can recall off my head. There was a case in WA with a calf just recently...

  • How could anyone factor cost into this matter. Money has been squandered stupidly all over Australia! We as humans acted like the sharks that Killed Collin / Collette's mother! Plenty of Milk formulars to use these days. Not one was tried! Shame to all the Negative Idiots in our World. Do we put Baby humans to sleep when they lose their mothers also! How about our Dogs & Cats,They all get a second chance at life don't they? Wake up & Smell the roses - Idiot Negative Human Beings!

  • why should they have done something to save it? yea, its a sad story... but i don't see anyone complaining about authorities not going out to sea each day to look for and save orphaned baby whales. animals die in the wild all the time, it's nature. even BABY whales die in nature. they towed him to other waters where he had a chance, but he came back. its a sad story, but do you know the costs of taking care of a humpback whale? look at wikipedia and see how much a humpback eats.

  • I don't think people should be quite so negative about it, yeah ok it is in a way murder and maybe they could have done something about it, but think more about it and it was really the nicer thing to do!

So don't have a go at me or anything about my personal opinion. If they kept debating on what to do it would have suffered longer. At least now it isn't suffering and its in happy whale heaven with no threats of any kind ^^

  • Even if they did try to feed it, and it died, at least they would have tried. And if they were going to kill it any way they are stupid not to have helped it. They should have done something, and if they had he might still be alive and he probably would have become Sydney's whale.

  • I agree, its like this. don't feed the whale and it WILL die, or feed the whale and it might live

  • NSW power grid privatisation, decoy kill baby whale

  • I would have taken my personal time to feed it, I mean what is it going to do to me?? nothing!!!poor whale

  • This little one's mother fell victim to human interference. Typically the apathetic solution (in the name of science and "authorities") is to painlessly put the whale to sleep. Allergic reaction?? We regularly feed our own babies milk from bovines designed to put on 100 pounds a month - who's babbling about allergic reactions to THAT? Shame!!!

  • They had the formula to feed her, this is so unjust. I read a comment he was saying that they knew that mother was dead, used the baby whale to distact the news to keep away an electricity agreement made with zionist elite. And didn't give her any change to live.

  • No it's fucking not, animals have to be put down everyday. Sometimes the decision is a hard one but this is one seems pretty clear cut. I'd love to hear your solution that doesn't just prolong its suffering.

  • Whine more? I don't think some of you realise how big a humpback is, the only thing that would have saved it was a miracle. That's nature for you, blame the creator.

  • Poor Colin, R.I.P.

I hope you swim happy in Heaven, now.

  • If this baby whale sees those boats as it's mother, why aren't we the intelligent species?

    WITHDRAW!

  • Breaks my heart... Why can't she be fed with the formula?! I don't understand why it's more "humane" to euthanize poor Colin than feed her the necessary formula, especially since Colin is an endangered species. Allergic reaction my arss!

This is so very sad... :.(

  • so sad

More sad because nothing is really tried !!!

Enough people wanted to help, but weren't allowed, because the danger of stress, allergie. But we will never know now eh...

    What tells us that?

  • Shocking.

  • If this poor baby was trying to nurse from a "yacht" then why oh why didn't they let those people attempt to feed him! My God, he was starving. Allergic reaction?? They were going to kill him anyways. I just don't understand. What a waste of such a beautiful, innocent creature!

  • Why in god's name can't it be saved? it's no different to any orphan animal !!

  • Update. Now Parks and Wildlife say Colin was a girl and her mother is probably the dead whale taken by sharks at Eden on the South Coast. They will test the DNA of both whales.

Justification to ease their guilt?? They can tell up anything but we saw the little whale.

  • Well done to the group of dickheads who came up with the idea to not feed it and uthenase it, someone should give ya a pat on the back, with a shovel.

  • ye and Ozzies killed the kid, murdered should be a better word. Who are the bigger idiots? whalers? or New South Whalers?

  • New South Whalers,

  • One hour after my first comment they killed him. According to our press he was dragged thrashing around and required several jabs of the needle. They had said he would not make it through the night but he did. So much for the Save the Whales. He is now lying on a beach.

  • Ummm, how about Japanese whalers killed the mom. Hmmm.

  • Not alot I can say, This is just so sad and I don't see why they wouldn't just let them TRY and if it didn't work then at least someone tried.

    Thank You Fred

  • I am angry beyond words. Sydney 7.18 am and it is raining. Mother nature's tears for a tiny whale NOT helped by humans. He is close to my home and my family are thinking of him all the time. Just to cap it off I helped by 8 year old grandson do a talk for school today on humpbacks.

  • this is so devistatingly sad...i feel nauseous right now.

  • So as far as I got it they killed this abandoned baby to avoid futher suffering. Thats a sad story but it really would be important to know the reason why the mother isnt able to care for the calf, well we will never know it now, but we already could if there where affords made to communicate with this inelligent lifeform, instead of keeping each other busy with senceless wars.

  • I have real trouble to understand what they say Fred, the backgroundmusic is to loud for me.

  • we don't need words any more - we all understand the situation and the suffering of this poor baby. I am so angry and I feel so sad!

  • be peaceful dear little Colin we will never forget
