The department, to my knowledge, had requested rifles not that long before the shootout but were denied. This is just a classic case of how gun control fails: these guys weren't supposed to have full-auto firearms, not were they supposed to have even magazines as large as they had. I watched a show called "Zero Hour" on this a short while ago - although alot of it was done by actors, there was interviews with some of the Officers who were there, and it showed alot of real footage too. In the real footage, it is very clear the guy shoots himself. He aims up at his chin and you see smoke from the muzzle. During the show they also said that second man, who did not kill himself, was shot around 30 times in the legs by the SWAT guys shooting under the cars.

The department, to my knowledge, had requested rifles not that long before the shootout but were denied. This is just a classic case of how gun control fails: these guys weren't supposed to have full-auto firearms, not were they supposed to have even magazines as large as they had. This was during the time of the strictest gun control in the united states ever, and this is what these guys had.

I was in the neighborhood that day. What a MESS. Sad thing was, one of the mothers of the shooters actually tried to sue the city for wrongful death. She lost big time.
These were the same guys that were robbing banks left and right that year...almost all of them B of A's. What ticked me off big time was when they killed an armored car driver at the B of A in Winnetka. They deserved what they got in NH that day.

I watched a show called "Zero Hour" on this a short while ago - although alot of it was done by actors, there was interviews with some of the Officers who were there, and it showed alot of real footage too. In the real footage, it is very clear the guy shoots himself. He aims up at his chin and you see smoke from the muzzle. During the show they also said that second man, who did not kill himself, was shot around 30 times in the legs by the SWAT guys shooting under the cars.
