  • What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

  • This is a cool video. Thanks.

  • why is this gay song on half the vids i see?

  • For someone who thinks they did horrible I think you did pretty good. You don't actually need to use that much of the lapping compound on the valve. A little bit in a few spots is enough.

  • you didn't use engineer's blue to chec for a decent seal

  • What was the tool you use to cut the valves

  • Was this a junk engine block that you tired this on ?

  • @1972FordF150 Yes

  • whair did you get those tools and how much did they cost

  • ok

  • Whats going on people, i am rebuilding my own head at home and just wanted to know the name of the tools he is using to grind the vavle and valve seats. Thanks you.

  • You missed a step...Put the engine in a vise...

  • Telmy prise please

  • cat costa freza?

  • Cat costa frezele pentru chiulasa, multumesc

  • thanks for the information

  • what a bodger, put it in a fking vice for gods sake

  • id put that bitch on a drill press, haha i guess it wouldnt be very acurate with your hand, sweeet vid tho,

  • id put that bitch on a drill press, haha i guess it wouldnt be very acurate with your hand,

  • oh ya dont follow this everything is all over the place, he cant keep the head still, the title should be, HOW TO PRACTICE A VALVE GRIND ON A F*&^ED HEAD

  • Tutorial -Something that provides special, instruction, Your video is not a tutorial. you said it yourself, you didi not care. I work 5 years as a tutor so i know what i am talking about. Also I am in school for small engine repair. It will be good to change the title of your video.

  • money, something i dont have enough of

  • it seals the valve onto the seat but obviously not this one

  • @bobodd5 haha

  • ok so what does the lapping compound do?

  • nice wrk dude!

  • when you lap the valves spin the stick as fast and as hard as you can untill you have to lift it for a sec.

  • it's a lot better to just explain it as the procedure follows than just with this music..

after everything else, there should be a test to see if the valves seats properly and does not leak.. a vacuum test would be best or just pour a small amount of gasoline on top, a lot of mechanics does that when not having a vacuum tool..

    hate it btw..

  • Forget about the valve seating technique, just slap on a Holley 750 carb and a Roots blower when you're done.

It don't get more tutorialish than that !!

  • pink floyd, money. money is something i dont have

  • Fix down that bloody engine before starting. Well this video is better then many around. Vice gripping of valve not good but you at least avoided the guide section. Cutting the seat and valve drops the valve closer to the cam follower so you might have to grind a little off the length. Finally dont lapp the valve so much. The term is lapping not grinding for a reason, a few swirls should be enough or the seat/valve faces are crap to start with.

  • Note to viewers: NEVER EVER stick a steel valve into a steel-jawed vice like he did in this video. It WILL ruin the stem. And Mad, save us the trouble of responding to me that it was a junk valve used for demonstration purposes and that you didn't care. ...some moron won't realize that. And ANYTHING worth doing (tutorial videos) is worth doing right. So don't get so bent out of shape when people respond that you've done something wrong. BTW: I really did like your vid, thank you.

  • @maddvideos0 its cool this kid obviously just figured out what youtube was and wanted to become a troll nice tutorial

  • haha nice song choice!

  • What brand of valve tools are they. Does it come as a kit and were can you purchase it.

  • I thought it was good

  • thanks for making it alot more clear to understand

  • If the engine ran well after rebuild then it was not a bodge! Good video, thanks. I did read once that the valve and seat angle should be one degree different (45 deg. seat and 46 deg. valve angle or the other way around) but never have I had verification or a reason for this. Anyone out there know the answer? Cheers, Carl.

  • @Beetlebank It's so that there is a line of contact when the valves are cold.

  • nice choice for music.

  • That's a neway valve seat cutter kit. Hang on to your checkbook.

  • yess!!!where can i buy this tool kit?!!!! i looked in sears, kragon, auto zone, pepboys, they dont have it just the grinding paste & suction wood sticky things)=<.......

  • Hmm, just wounder were I could buy that valve tool kit??!

  • Ebay?

  • I'm am goin to guess that is a briggs and stratton 3.5 Hp vertical L head... (I've worked on enough of them)

  • correct

  • What engine is that ?

  • It looks like an B&S lawnmoverengine.

    A sidevalve.

  • what angle is for which valve

  • 45 is normal preformance and race use 30 or 90 degree cut

  • @jayguy173

45 on both the valve face and the seat rite?

    Cause i don't remeber 100% :P

  • yes the seat angle has to match

  • nice i just hav 24 valve, lol.

  • Why bother lapping the valve and valve seat if you re-cut the valve seat? Wouldn't it have been better to use new valves or reground the valve to perfect match the newly cut valve seat angle(s)?

  • where did u get that tool?

and what exactly is it called?

  • what do you do if you have a bad valve guide

  • Um.........replace bad valve guide with a new valve guide.

  • That tool is great is the guide is still good. Where did you get those tools? Also, do you have a procedure for repair on the guide itself? Thanks

  • De guideas are pressed in you have to press them out and press new guides in

  • very good video man that is profeshinal

  • Great video, now I know how its done. Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • WHAT? NO leak test?

    Good job on the video.

  • Excellent instructional video. It is very

professional job and nicely done. Not sure where you get these tools to do my own valve jobs, just using the "lapping" portion which I believe is good enough.

I'm using the Permatex valve grinding compound to "reseat" both the valve and the seat.

  • does anyone know what setting the intake valves means? I took my KTM 125 four stroke dirt bike to a shop and they said i have to set the valves or pay them $200 to do it... i was just wonderin if anyone knew what that mean or knew how to do it. thanks

  • i think they talk about the valve lash.... not sure but its really easy and take 5 min.......

  • apears to have been carried out by amateurs!!!

  • permatex prussian blue......... works wonders never did a 3 angle on a small engine just interference angles 44 and 46 and so on.

  • What is the music?

  • Pink Floyd - Money -> album "Dark Side Of the Moon"

  • what is that tool u used called? and where could i find one?

  • Sorry wasnt specific the one u used to cut the angles.

  • neway valve seat cutters

  • oh ok thankyou and what was that grease like stuff you used twoards the end?

  • That would be lapping compound, its used to make sure the seal between the valve and seat is perfect.

  • if you'll notice he said he knows he done a quick bad job so dont bother commenting. He's just showing you the basics in quick version.

  • I always use a serdi machine and it's got a vacume punmp to show that the vale and seat is sealing which works well. It's good to see that you are interested in this type of work

  • you didnt cut them deep enough... unless you get rid of the wear ridge its pointless to grind the seats...

  • nice job i need 2 know the name of this tool it`s fantastic

  • Word of advise: Vise.

  • Word of advice. Vice in U.K.

  • I hope your are thousands of miles from me a bad amateur!

  • shows a lot about your perents

  • very nice video man

  • Don't worry, the video was just fine. Maybe miniman works only on lawn mowers. Racers have been lapping valves forever. What is the brand of the tool.

  • i dont remember the brand. we just had to do this for school. we used their tools. i think they were called neway.

  • Well race car engines only need to run properly for a day and can be pulled down and worked on. I like an engine to at least last it's waranty.

  • Sorry spelt it wrong, its called synchro seating. I've been doing valve services for over 20 years and still beleive its the most accurate way of doing it.Aso I have never lapped a valve in a seat in my life. What do you use to set the tappets after the job is done?

  • the shop i worked at always lapped the valves in, its personal choice really, i liked it cause it shows the contact pattern well.

  • I use bearing blue to show how the contact pattern.

  • ah, yeah that works too, i was never good enough at it to be sure with blue, but i can see how it would work

  • that's the roughest way to cut the seat. you didn't even have the barrel in a vice so it wouldn't move. heard of sincro seating?

  • yeah i know, we did this as fast as we could. it was an end of the year project.

the barrel was in, you just cant see it.

and no i havent heard of that
