Indigenous words incorporated into Spanish doesnt constitute speaking an Indigenous language. In fact, Indigenous words were adopted into English too: Chipmunk, hickory, husky, moccasin, powwow, raccoon, skunk, squash, totem, wampum, wigwam, etc. Thats great, but that doesnt mean speaking English is any substitute for my heritage language. Finally, Nahuatl and Mexica make up only a fraction of Mesoamerican culture & language. Many others contribute to language borrowing & should be recognized

I love chile, tomatoes & guacamole on my tacos, & to wash it down hot cocoa, & chew some chicle, while watching the coyote & roadrunner afterwards, under the shade of my avocado tree. its good that parts of the culture still survive. but if the people don't KNOW that it is the native culture then the only benefit is that a later generation might figure it out. but you can't go halfway. you can't preach the language and not the religion / culture. but what you are saying, i believe, is the first step. spanish AND english are slave languages and without speaking our native tongue (and going to church) we are still slaves.
i like strudying languages all over the world, especially their grammars, and Nahuatl grammar is VERY MUCH like other native american languages. It's no secret, just ask a linguist.

tamales, frijoles, tortillas which are made from corn an indigenous plant, sweet potato, chile peppers, avacado, chocolate milk mmm dip with bread. these are not European foods. this is stuff my grand parents been cooking for generations
There's a big difference between using a few loan words that are *derived* from the words of a certain language and actually being able to speak that particular language. The grammar, syntax, and morphology of Nahuatl are entirely different from Spanish. Compare English, which has many words based on Latin and Greek, but show an English speaker a text in Latin or Greek and he won't get that far. Likewise, a modern Mexican would be able to understand very little (if anything) of a Nahuatl text.

I believe everyone born on this continent should be proud of who they are no matter what their background.
I always encouraged my kids who are part Navajo to be proud of their roots (Indigenous, European, and Jewish)
