  • Found a solution to my problem: Setting the devices to static IPs.

  • Nice, does this work on vista? (i have a vista laptop and a 7 desktop)

  • @M4cey I'm pretty sure they are the same if not very similar.

  • @misterpc23 Okay, thanks :)

  • @M4cey Welcome

  • im follow exactly same but cannot access drive on network ! error popup show: you do not have permitte to acess..\\john\my drive.contract....... i need help !

  • @nero986 Is your laptop or desktop password protected?

  • Yep both PCs logged in as admin, I wouldn't have any other way. I can choose full control for the default "everyone" group but it doesn't change the outcome. Really losing my mind on this... Seriously don't want to FTP stuff around my network

  • @DopeyFish Well what you could do is buy an empty NAS and put the drive you want to be a shared drive in there. Quite a few companies make it really easy to do that.

  • Yep I mapped it... It will just say that I don't have permission to access it, when I go into the permissions, I can't choose anything but the main computer - I can access the public folders but nothing I actually share myself :(

  • @DopeyFish Hmm. So you cant choose "Full control" for everyone? Are logged in as an Admin?

  • When I share a drive, only the computer the drive is on can access it. Windows sharing and network drive mounting is so incredibly broken

  • @DopeyFish Did you map the network drive?

  • i truly hate the sharing difficulties in windows, its ALWAYS a headache. I did exactly what you did on the video but the only i can share are individual folders and not the entire drives.

  • @ElAlexxis try "Map Network drive" In my computer.

  • @misterpc23 hi my friend i finally fixed the issue. this time it was partly windows and the firewall of F Secure Client Security, you have to delete all "home groups" and start from scratch with all computers you want to join the group that will generally do it. If you are using F Secure you have to go and set IPv6 traffic to "normal" and maybe even make a "rule" or "exception" for your machines at home... :)

  • I can see my drive on the network but my laptop needs a stupid password to access.

  • @Sacki57 go into the sharing settings and turn off password protected sharing

  • I would like to have FULL CONTROL of my other PC's on my network.

Eg. Copy files from them to the PC I'm working on. How can I do that?

I keep getting a prompt: "You need permission to perform this action"

  • i still can't share my drive to a win xp pc

  • its not working for drive but i can share folder help

  • @ismail13889 Ill try to figure out your problem tomorrow. I do not currently have another computer to see if i can see my drive on the network. So you can see folders but not the drive its self?

  • i take same part but the a porblem !!

  • @bdjfreestyleHD

Whats your problem? is it not working? i can try and help
