@Rereman86 Lucky! I used to live in Des Moines before I moved to Arizona 7 years ago. I want to move back but can't because I don't have any money. :(
Sam, you did a good job! especially using the Indiana Jones soundtrack as your background music.
I was looking for a place to visit this summer 2011 and found your video clip. Wish you would introduce about the people and culture at Des Moines. Let me know if you are interested to be our tour guide :)
i used to swim at that pool in 1968..also liked to hit the Salisbury House once in awhile. Liked the lime pits too...back then it looked like the moon!
I hate living in des moines. THERE'S NOTHING HERE. The art center is good for like 15 minutes of entertainment, as is the science center. There's some nice rich neighborhoods, though. The capitol is the ONLY thing worth traveling here for, though. All in all I hate living here, and can't wait to get out.
@xelapat Trust me my young friend, i left DSM in 81, for Montana then Riverside, Ca. SoCal. It sucks. It's always hot, sweaty, dry and dusty. On to about July everything has a fine layer of grey grit on anything green. The air smells like chemicals and smoke 90% time because the hills are always set on fire.
It takes an hour to drive 12 miles in rush hour. That's two hours of off work time doing nothing but sitting in yer car. If ya move, dont move to SoCal!
I live in colfax near desmoines and to me desmoines Is like heaven. Colfax sucks

I grew up in Des Moines (50s and 50s) and it was a marvelous place to live then, too.

Actully I'm pretty sure that the Principal Building in Des Moines is just a little bit taller than the First National Bank Tower in Omaha
