Philip Quast is wonderful but I don't think Anthony Warlow disappoints either! These are my two favorite male voices on Broadway and it is wonderful to hear how they come together.

its amazing...the reason this song is so thrilling is that it tests the average baritone and tenor the the reaches of their range.....philip quast does both parts equally well. god i love quast!
I actually have a recording where Quast sings the other role in this song. He pulls them both off really well! Also, Anthony Warlow has a wonderful tone. :) Love love love
I was just in this show at my high school and played Ben Weatherstaff and Major Holmes. It's a great show, this is a great song, and this is the best I've ever heard it performed. Bravo
@erikullestad Really?!?!? This isn't Les Mis. This is from The Secret Garden. Although Phil Quast was best (IMO) as Javert, he was in plenty else. This is gorgeous stuff.
That last note never fails to bring goosebumps...had forgotten how much I love this song...and especially these two performers!! Awesome, simply awesome!!
Hearing Quast sing anything else than Javert is a much minor problem for me than hearing anyone else singing Javert - for me no one could even equal Quasts performance!

arcadesfire and lilkittehs34,
Philip is amazing in everything he does. If YOU are too limited to see him as anything more than a character he once played, then that speaks more about you than it does his talent. Enough said.
Seriously? We weren't insulting him at all. Philip is my favorite actor/singer. I'm just stating that Javert was the first character I ever saw him as and it became my favorite performance. It has absolutely nothing to do with his talent (which he has an amazing amount of, by the way.) Please stop being so sensitive.
i've never seen this musical, but this song makes me want to see it. it's so beautiful! it's great to see Javert and Jekyll/Hyde singing a song together, they are both amazing!
Philip Quast and Anthony Warlow are utterly amazing.
And who else thought of Snape and Lily Potter the first time they heard this? Just from the name and the focus on her eyes and the unrequited love thing.
I was actually thinking of rewriting this song to be Harry Potter related (making hazel into emerald), though besides Snape, I was wondering who would sing the other part.
I love Philip Quast, but I prefer him with sideburns and a trenchcoat. :) I don't really like his curly hair here...he reminds me too much of Marius Pontmercy! :/

how can you compare this with anything else known to man? And anyway, Lily Potter's eyes were GREEN, not HAZEL. But I will admit, the first time I heard the song, I thought the same thing.

Philip Quast, seen here, understudied it on Broadway, and was in the chorus. Here we also see Mr. Warlow, doing his usual beautiful job...even if it is a little too obbligato for my tastes, giving WAY too much value to some notes that should be hit straight, not scooped, and sung more separately.
I've never heard Philip Quast has done any role on Broadway, not to mention understudying. I know he starred in the West end production of Secret Garden around 2001.
