A wonderful book? I have it and I read it, and it crumbles under the weight of the truth. It is not accurate, biblical, or could even be considered a good work. If you ever watched or heard James White and Dave Hunt debate, James sticks to the text, while Dave, gives you his opinions and feelings. Wake up Christians!!!!!

Hunt is a 3rd rate expositor at best. He doesn't actually read source material but goes to 2nd hand resources at best. Very lazy and irresponsible work at best. True christians who are reformed would not say that every church who doesn't have a "calvinistic" theology do not preach the gospel because I believe they do. However i do think they could have some more accurate teachings in their sermons. I think I can speak for all who go to a reformed church that we don't associate ourselves as "calvinist" as if we follow a man for our salvation. In my opinion Hunt does not adequately cover some of the most complex truths in the Bible. His research and arguments are very one-sided. His attempt to disprove Calvinism is driven by a wrong understanding of who God is.

I think his book will divide men who have not studied the subject in depth. Hunt's theology is not the foundation that a biblical church should be built upon; in order to be most effective for the Kingdom.

I would suggest reading Phill Johnson's response to Hunt's book.

There are 2 different lines of Scripture in the Greek. There is the Alexandrian - Egypt line(used by the Roman Catholic Church), or Critical Text which is a false text, and the Received Text, or Antiochon line that was presrved through God's church(Antioch, where they were first called Christians-Acts 11:26). We are saved by grace rather than our works.... but to merely will is simply not a work, and it gives us no reason to boast. I am not sure what is so hard for many Calvinists to understand about that. Romans 4:5 very clearly makes a distinction between faith and works.

If Calvinists really believe that everything which happens is according to God's will, then it really doesn't make much sense that they get so upset with Dave Hunt for disagreeing with them.

If everything that happens is according to God's will, that would have to mean that what Dave says is also according to God's will, whether the Calvinists agree with him or not. In that case, there is really no reason for them to be so upset with Dave or others who disagree with them.

A further hint. Details of what God has decreed in the secret counsel of his will does not instruct us how we ought to live. Only prescriptive commands are revealed, we subject ourselves to the whole Word of God. Obedience includes promoting truth and resist false teachings.

The real question is why is God "willing" Dave to speak out against Calvinism, perhaps for the same reason he (God) tolerates Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses. So true Christians can distiguish truth from error.
